if they put a timer on hightower and whichever team's cart was the closest won (with sudden death if both carts were at the base of the tower or the same ramp), the map would be infinitely better (because it would actually end), and "hightower culture" would finally end

hightower isnt popular because objectives are too difficult, its popular because its perfect for hide-and-seek, sniping and "trolldier"
So I want to make a few small alterations to the default hud, can anyone give me the instructions for these changes?

Is it really? Hightower is one of my least favorite maps for sniping. There is no front line to hide behind, anyone can come at you from anywhere.

Yeah the needle guns all need a buff and I'm hoping they get one in the next balance update. It's going to be hard to balance them to not make them too good but good enough to compete with the crossbow.
The first buff they should get is passive reload like the crossbow and flare guns.
I think one of them could have something like reduced afterburn damage and reduced fall damage to help keep the medic alive.

The reason people play hightower is because the game takes billion years to end.
Looking back on the [URL="https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Team_Fortress_2_Closed_Beta"]TF2 Closed Beta[/URL] that happened during 2009, apparently there were two nerfs tested for the Übersaw: one with -25% damage penalty, and another one that on hit, it inflicts 25 damage to the Medic.
The damage penalty nerf would backfire since that would mean that the Medic could get more über off of a player, but the "On Hit: -25 health" seems interesting since they wanted to make even more high risk for the Medic since über is a powerful tool. None of these changes were ultimately implemented, but it's interesting to read that the Übersaw was going to get nerfed, and then it has gone unchanged for 9 years ever since those nerfs were tested. It's still not what I'd call a balanced weapon, but a medic that takes 25% über off me while sacrificing 25 of their health to do so would actually make it more exciting and maybe a borderline BM move, and people do want to keep that excitement.
Another interesting addition to note was the first GRU beta, which was supposed to take 100 health off the Heavy (200 normal heath, 300 health with overheal) and have a mediocre melee option while making the heavy 30% faster on wearer. It's funny to think how the GRU we have now does also sacrifice temporarily your maximum health for speed, while that version was "permanent" in that sense and even then it would've been competitive-accepted. Maybe.
What do you guys think of the beta weapons in general?

Tbh looking back at TF2 Beta, I'm sure Fire Retardant Suit for the Spy would fit at the moment considering how overpowered Pyro is. Spy is literally defenseless against Pyro right now.

Dead Ringer/Spycicle make you pretty much impervious to Pyros. You won't have your weapon half the time... but it does work.

I disagree, the new afterburn is a godsend for Spies.
not to mention the stupid bits like cloak further reducing status effects and damage by 20% is still in effect.
as is burn disabling healing for a while :hurr:

Oh, not to forget that a dead pyro can still hit you for 80+ damage.

I'm curious, why do you think these are bad changes? I'm not saying they are [I]good[/I] changes, and not even the cloak's damage resistance and status reduction is stated anywhere, but I never see anywhere why they're bad other than they're "dumb".
Afterburn reducing healing is only really effective against level one dispensers, so it's not that even useful in the first place...

Somehow they test run a normal item and modified the item schema to show a golden pan.

the point is valve shoves all these bad changes for an older state of the game, only to forget about them forever when the rest of the game changes yet again.

They didn't forget about the healing reduction, in JI they changed it from the fire particles to afterburn, and reduced it from 25 to 20%

Ever wanted to relive the moments spent on rd_asteroid, ctf_sawmill, or even 5gorge?
This Saturday, on the 27th Jan, 6PM EST, you can! We will be hosting a Server event in which we will play the lost levels of TF2. We will be rotating the maps in a 30 minute cycle.

I was playing Banana Bay for the advanced Spy contract a few days ago and noticed something. The clouds move/the skybox rotates on this map! The skybox on 2Fort used to rotate apparently, but it's been broken for years.
