Dumb x 3 Johnny Joe C. Blades Blackavar Dumbed by 3 Facepunch <best> balancers who thinks easy to kill and counter classes are too OP. Funny, I'm actually so glad that Valve actually listens to people who have a clue who they are talking about instead just casual players.
Yeah at this point I ignore their bandwagon ratings.
We all know that the whitelist is mostly due to people unable to accept change. This isn't new. That's the community, not the game itself.
No, they accepted changes like Thermal Thruster and Gloves of Running Urgently. For a small amount of time, Bonk was unbanned. After testing, they realized letting Scouts get behind the enemy (forcing the enemy to chase) was still a problem, even if they were vulnerable after the effects wore off. BASE Jumper was also unbanned, then after testing, the weapon remained problematic as you could still avoid an airshot or two by deploying then undeploying. There are many problems with all the weapons that are banned. Acting like the 6s community just doesn't want to accept change is ignoring problems with all of those weapons, and pretending the TF2 Team knows better about balancing than many of us. Crit-a-Cola would be fine if it was just "give minicrits, take minicrits", but the TF2 Team was stubborn and decided making it more powerful was a good idea, when it gives the Scout a free shot for massive damage before the downsides take effect. Et cetera.
The TF2 team obviously isn't really amazing at balancing the game either, then, as there are still 26 banned weapons in 6s. And from the JI change explanations, it's obvious they were looking at 6s as the format to balance towards. And it's the competitive format Valve supports. So I guess nobody can balance.
the parachute is perfectly balanced with the loss of a shotgun literally anywhere else. 6s will never-not ban things. maybe it's time you evaluate weapons for what they are rather than rely on a list created for a specific game mode.

Therefore, the game must be balanced for it and nothing else. "The 6s community is small". When Valve ramps up their support after overhauling the official matchmaking system, that will change.
not to mention had the gunboats came into the game very very late (like 2017) then 6s would ban it for being too easy to bomb enemies with. 6s uses items suited for their fun and not always because of what the items are compared to stock. otherwise shit like degreaser and ironbomber would have been gone ages ago.
BASE Jumper was also unbanned, then after testing, the weapon remained problematic as you could still avoid an airshot or two by deploying then undeploying.
Potential BASE Jumper nerf, equipping it makes you take 25% more fall damage, to deincentivize dodging projectiles by undeploying it in midair?
Potential BASE Jumper nerf, equipping it makes you take 25% more fall damage, to deincentivize dodging projectiles by undeploying it in midair?
Maybe. Personally, I think having it slow your fall just enough that you don't ever take fall damage, and having it deploy on every jump (cannot be undeployed), as well as still reducing air control would make it balanced. This allows the Soldier to stay in the air for bombs longer, eliminating the fall damage they take, while making airshots significantly easier as the real downside.
not to mention had the gunboats came into the game very very late (like 2017) then 6s would ban it for being too easy to bomb enemies with.
The Gunboats themselves changed how 6s was played at its core. No longer did you require lots of healing on 2 soldiers, instead you could leave one to perform tasks similar to the Scouts. Difference between Gunboats and the new Base Jumper and Mantreads is that Gunboats only increased the frequency of the jumps rather than increase the threats of said jumps via clever air control. The low health cost of jumps does pose some issues though, as it's a much larger buffer to bomb with that the pocket/demo has to contend with if they have hopes of defending their Medic. Whether that's considered a good thing or a problem has yet to be considered and I'm sure I'd be put on a pike if I were to propose that the damage resistance only applied for health lower than maximum (ie non-overheal).
not to mention had the gunboats came into the game very very late (like 2017) then 6s would ban it for being too easy to bomb enemies with.
6s would be an entirely different game if gunboats didn't exist beforehand. There probably wouldn't be 2 soldiers. [editline]26th January 2018[/editline]
Dumbed by 3 Facepunch <best> balancers who thinks easy to kill and counter classes are too OP.
Besides Sniper, which classes are you talking about?
doesnt really matter, their feedback is still important dont have to be a cook to know a meal is shit etc. etc.
No. Feedback from irrelevant sources, such as players angry that their objectively unbalanced crutch was nerfed (see: historical dead ringer) are required to be ignored by any rational game developer, that's just the nature of the business. If the loudest vocal minority had their way with TF2's balancing over the years, regardless of how good or bad thier ideas were, the game would have died shortly after it went F2P. That's just the reality of it.
Dumb x 3 Johnny Joe C. Blades Blackavar Dumbed by 3 Facepunch <best> balancers who thinks easy to kill and counter classes are too OP. Funny, I'm actually so glad that Valve actually listens to people who have a clue who about what they are talking about unlike casual players who get dominated by someone and instantly cry that the class is too OP.
And we're all very glad valve doesn't listen to some pompous, high-open sniper main with "massive legend here" on his profile and who thinks his medals from a free league make him better than random people on the internet at balance. Oh wait.
So if the standard casual player is awful for balancing (obviously), the top players shouldn't balance because they don't know how to design a game, mid-tier studious players like me shouldn't balance, and the TF2 Team doesn't do very well at balancing, who the fuck should be making balance choices? :v:

You know apparently there's a dev on the TF team who is so good on Sniper he gets hackusations, guess we won't see Sniper nerfs for a while :v:
I've been having a lot of fun on powerhouse maps lately. Getting a few pals together to work together to win is really satisfying. Something about working and plotting to break the stalemate is fun to me.
I've been having a lot of fun on powerhouse maps lately. Getting a few pals together to work together to win is really satisfying. Something about working and plotting to break the stalemate is fun to me.
Powerhouse is a garbage map from a balance standpoint, but it's by far one of the best stalemate fuck around while still trying to win maps in the game. it actually can be completed without a huge gap in skill between teams unlike 2Fort and Hightower, and the spacing of the map, its walls, etc allow for pretty much every class to shine in certain situations. basically it's really fun.
Just had a truly magical moment a few hours ago. Was screwing around on a LazyPurple server, and a hacker came waltzing in. Of course, the first thing the creature tried to do was aimbot as Sniper, but every one had mirror mode activated (meaning the attacker kills themself), so the hacker constantly kept killing itself for several minutes. Then the whole server starts trolling the hacker, blocking it in spawn and spamming taunts at it while it futilely tries to grief the server-base, spinning around at 1400 RPM, changing offensive names on a dime and bringing in a new account every few minutes, and getting pissed off when it learns it was being recorded. Soon the Admins get in on it and start teleporting it into walls and such every time it respawns. This continues on for a whole half an hour and a map change of an entire server just antagonizing and griefing this hacker, to the point where it started renaming itself to pieces of "real life info" like social security numbers, name, and age in some insane, backwards reverse psychology attempt to grief. Whole server was sad when the fairy finally ran away for good, hoping it would come back for another session of Christmas. Hopefully a video of it will come out at some point. TL;DR You hacked in the wrong neighborhood, motherfucker.
Vid's up. Friendly warning, offensive names included;
Everyone seems to have guilty pleasure maps, even though we know well balanced maps are "better" there's nothing like the inane stalemates of powerhouse or dustbowl for getting mindless hitmarkers tbh
I've got a fetish for setting up sentries in uncommon and oddly specific locations on 2Fort.

The item schema for TF2 apparently just replaced itself with the item schema for CS:GO.
