Pyro does an utterly absurd amount of damage now, and valve has refused to fix it for several months now, asleep at the wheel.
What if it's just a test for Valve to get more of that data.

Beyond that, yeah it helps to have some profile stuff set up that nobody can imitate. Also add nicknames to people you know.
What if they make the default flame particles function similar to the idea of the Dragon's Fury? You're rewarded with more damage for focused fire. But instead of relying on ticks of afterburn to boost the damage, it increases and decreases with the accuracy of the flame particles. The dragon fury's damage is only boosted once, but the fire rate increases. The default flames would remain at the same speed, but damage increased with every consecutive particle on a single target, crits not included.
Currently a flame particle at close range does 13 damage, so if you connect 10 particles, it does 130 damage. Because of the size, you can flail your mouse and kill multiple people in pretty much the same amount of time it would take to focus one, since there's no punishment for missing.
What I'm thinking, is that the damage would increase like this:
4→6→8→10→14→16→20→22→24→26 for 150 damage, ignoring afterburn.
If you miss some particles, damage looks like this:
4→6→8→miss→8→10→14→miss→14→16→20 for 100 damage, ignoring afterburn.
For comparasion, the dragon's fury:
25→75→75 for 175 damage.
Only 3 hits to kill a squishy class compared to the flamers 10 hits, but without airblast and a harsher penalty for missing.
What do you all think? It would slightly increase pyro's damage on focused targets, but heavily punish the behavior you see in every pub now. Please tell me if I'm just an idiot and it would never work.
I have never been targeted by a scammer ever because the most valuable thing I own is a Strange Professional Killstreak Australium Stickybomb Launcher.

And of course, flames would still pass through enemies and still calculate damage based on accuracy.

I like this, but I think it would be better if missed particles reduced damage by a couple of notches instead of staying the same; not resetting, of course. This would increase the skill ceiling and lower the skill floor.
Wouldn't that require each particle to be individually tracked by the game though?
Wouldn't that require each particle to be individually tracked by the game though?
Instead, maybe they could add some kind of "burn" value to every player, which goes up each tick they take flame damage(separate from afterburn), and goes down each tick they don't. Then the value multiples by my proposed flamer base damage, 4. This would also ensure that friendly pyros can stack their damage at the current burn value.

I don't have too many high value items (1 unusual and a few stranges that are worth some money like the Gunslinger and Kritzkrieg) but I usually get at least 2-3 a month.

At least once or twice a week, I just say you have to leave a comment on my profile before adding me, or else I automatically decline. Usually for some reason this child proof tactic works.

Whenever I had an unusual up for sale, at least once every other week. Oddly, after I added this to my profile description:
[t]https://i.imgur.com/GGHFPtQ.png[/t]
I never got another scam add, and I've had it for at least 3 or 4 months.
I always assumed scammers just tried everybody, since adding and messaging takes at most 5 minutes per account.
I don't accept adds from people unless I know them or have seen them somewhere. Private profiles/level 0 are ignores no matter what.
I've never had anything valuable in my inventory for a long time (though that's about to change pretty soon), though, so that's probably why I don't really encounter scammers even when I do accept random adds.

I only ever get scam requests when I start using outpost to do trades...
Tossed up my unusual taunts and maybe my weapon skin ( still debating on it ). People add me, say they want to chest if my item is glitched or duped and want to get an admin involved... I generally just shrug and decline at that point... Can't you use backpack.tf to check for duped status on items? I can always jump in game if you want to see if it's glitched or not...
Hell, I don't recall ever hearing about glitched taunts now that I think about it...
I've gotten 2-3 people requesting an admin as of late, always from a friend request usually pretty early in the morning if I refresh my outpost searches then.
Off the top of my head:
• Double check you've got everything in the right folders.
• If you've created new replacements.vmt files, trying adding the directory they're located in to the /materials/replacements.txt file, if you haven't done so already.
• Make sure whatever maps you're testing have been added to the /cfg/mtp.cfg file.
If it still doesn't work, then I guess it's either that your VMTs are set up incorrectly, or the game just won't let you replace/add replacement.vmt files.
Could you perhaps throw up a download link for some of them for other people to test?
so i penta-checked all three things mentioned, and gave it a 6th try but no dice. what im thinking the issue is, is that the vpk files are checked for valve signiture, as i know when i do mine i'm creating a whole new vpk. So i guess no adding or replacing files when it comes to these kinda scripts
i have the files, how would ya'll like me to drop them?

Which files are you trying to replace? AFAIK no VMTs are locked with a signature like the item schema (though the base VPKs are signed with Valve's private key to check for authenticity). VPKs in the custom folder don't need a signature unless you're trying to use them on Skial servers.
It might also be because any files packed in the BSP are loaded last, meaning they will override any mods you have while the map is loaded. It might work with older maps where the textures and materials are stored in the base VPKs, but for maps that include their own textures you will be unable to replace them without repacking the map (thus causing the map to fail the consistency check when connecting to a server playing a map with the same filename).
I think I'm following what you're asking but if I'm missing something let me know.

Yet another argument for removing halloween restrictions.
You'd be able to identify furries a lot more easily though with them wearing dog heads and shit 24/7.
As much as everyone hates tiers I gotta say unboxing cases is a shit ton more interesting than crates
crates is literally just "get trash OR AN UNUSUAL" while Cases are a lot more varied in value *and* trash, especially with bonus items

As a unrestricted yeti heavy, sure why not.
The TF2 team should take a second and look over recent cosmetics and remove halloween restrictions based off the recent relaxed approach of choosing cosmetics that they added over the year.

most items were submitted with knowledge that they'd be restricted. Leave it at that.
we have more pressing matters than halloween restrictions.
Yes we do Metaru like mentioning that in almost 8 hours we'll be running an event on the TF2 FP Community server(specifically the USA one). 5 maps will be ran. 5gorge cactus canyon sawmill asteroid and well.
