I suppose we could make a new Medigun, but I'm not really sure where we would go with it. If Quick-Fix were finally fixed as a weapon, Kritzkrieg would beat Quick-Fix, Quick-Fix would beat Ubercharge, and Ubercharge would beat Kritzkrieg. All Vaccinator does at the moment is beat Kritzkrieg on a dime, and doesn't really have a place in the rock-paper-scissors that is Medigun choice. And I'm not sure what concept of Medigun could be given that would improve upon a strength or weakness of the Medic. A couple of ideas (may be bad): Split Healing Medigun: (+) Multiple targets can be healed and ubered (-) Healing and uber effect are split between targets (50%, 33%, 25%, 20%, etc) (-) Medic is not ubered upon Ubercharge Note: The Ubercharge involved is the standard Medigun Ubercharge. Generally, the effect of this weapon is 100% damage resistance from all sources. If you were healing 4 people and ubered, they would all gain 25% damage resistance from all sources, and the Medic gets nothing. Defense/Offense Medigun: (i) On Reload: Switch between Offense and Defense (i) Uber is split into two sections, 5 seconds each (+) During Offense ubercharge, target gains 25% reloading and firing speed, and does minicrits. (+) During Defense ubercharge, target gains 50% damage resistance from all sources. (-) 25% reduced ubercharge rate Notes: In 6s, switching between offense and defense is a key part of the game's strategy. This weapon allows the tactical Medic to keep their team from dying, and push into the enemy when a pick is made.
These are both far outclassed by the standard medigun's ability to flash other people imo. I see the ability to bring in 3 ubered people in a push would be useless because they would just immediately pick your medic and you wouldn't be ubered long enough to do anything. The offensive/defensive gun also seems like it wouldn't be worth it to me. 25% longer charge time to have the option of a worse version of Kritz or a worse version of Vacc. I think unlocks should be simple, like the kritz. Gives crits instead of invuln and charges faster. Simpler to balance, easier to learn, and everyone on the field knows exactly what it does just by looking.
I really liked this idea I read in SPUF a few thousand years ago, to separate Mediguns and Backpacks. The Backpacks would provide Über type (Default, Kritz, Superhealing, Damage negation, auras?), while the Medigun/Nozzle itself could switch around other stats.

Stock backpack with kritz nozzle would mean you'd get a stock medigun, but the only difference is it builds ubercharge faster. It would be a straight upgrade over all stock. Meanwhile stock backpack with quickfix nozzle would literally just be the quickfix except you have full uber. Sounds like a balancing nightmare and I'm not really seeing any benefit at all.
Vaccinators are also deeply annoying to snipers as well. Want to support your team by taking out someone and the enemy uses a vaccinator to stop your heavy from aerating his team? Well, tough shit, bullet resistance to you too, sniper. This is of course outside their popular use on pocketing snipers for the garbage play on 2fort too.
I kind of wish there was a sniper primary that had the ability to pierce damage resistance similar to how the Enforcer is meant to. In fact, give that stat to the Classic on-headshot and it'd suddenly be a meta choice to deal with a Vaccinator Medic; lord knows the Classic needs a buff anyways.
after using quick fix for 6 years I also just realized it's an awful medigun that gets nothing done. a tiny wee bit more healing is never worth the overheal loss. the locomotion mimic is a worthless gimmick even if valve makes it seem like such a big deal. megaheal isn't even good and gets outdamaged by alot of things. that thing needs a rework to focus more on fast healing and less on stupid gimmicks.
I find that the usefulness of Quick-Fix goes down the more active players are running on the server. Mostly due to more players = higher chances of high damage output in a shorter time frame. VACinator is sort of in the same place too. Since more players means more chances of running into multiple sources of damage that could decrease the usefulness of running it.
This post got me thinking, for any game that did a promo with TF2 and is now defunct, Valve should add the promo items to the random drop table and make the old ones vintage.
I find that the usefulness of Quick-Fix goes down the more active players are running on the server.
yes it's interesting that QF is likely the only weapon in the game that's stronger in 6s and weaker in pubs
I believe there are/were a few other weapons like that. It's just Quick-Fix is one of the more obvious examples. I still believe wee booties ( before it was nerfed ) were another one where it was more viable the less people you played against. Less players means you could probably deal with them with just the sticky launcher regularly and less reliant on the grenade launcher. Thus you could swap off the grenade launcher to wee booties for the health increase and movement speed increase to make it easier for you.
you better buckle up for tonite then As far as the future goes: Are people interested in a Facepunch TF2 MGE/Multiduo/etc. tournament with prizes?
What prizes are we talking? Will there be random crits? Do I get a participation award for when I get eliminated in the first round?
Does anyone have the video where the spy comes out of the water from ctf_well, says "you have done well" and then the video ends? I really want it.

I've seen alot of people trying to do this on Attack/Defense maps exclusively. Also haven't met a single catbot in like 40 games so far. Confirmed ded?
what if the vaccinator's base resistance while being healed was raised to 20%, but the mini-uber instead of raising resistance any further, gave players a bubble that gave them 20% damage resistance for 8-10 seconds (that doesn't stack with base healing resistance) and gave them a quick burst of health, allowing a medic to quickly buff a player and go back to healing others that need it, yet at the same time making it basically the anti-pocket medigun, requiring you to switch between players quickly to actually get use out of your ubers
https://probablyaserver.com/ Above is a server community that ran Minecraft, Gary's Mod, Ark, but most importantly, TF2. Sadly all that's left is Tf2's servers, which will also be shut down February first. Why? well the others servers died I assume because of lack of interest, but the Tf2 servers were active and loved by many, though the admins had different views about them. You see, there were Harvest, Turbine, Payload Rotation, and Dustbowl, but the admins seemed to only like one of these when I talked to them, and that one was Dustbowl. Now, this was only some of the admins views, the other few I have no clue about, as they never got on the discord so I could see there opinions on the matter. So anyway, after a while the Dustbowl and payload shut down. I do not know the reason, but I think it had to do with money. Then most admins started leaving and the ones that were left stayed on turbine. Soon all stopped playing. I was confused about why so I joined the discord they had to find out why. It seemed they were only wanting to play Dustbowl, that is the few that got on to talk. They acted like ctf and koth were a sin. Now this doesn't bother me, but the fact that they never resigned from staff did. They just stayed staff while playing Overwatch. Now the owners might like more maps and modes, but i have never seen them on in the 2 years i played here. Now here's the good part. Since they were shutting the Tf2 servers down, they thought "why not bring back Dustbowl for a few days?". Well when they did, I have scarce seen anyone play it, including the admins who "loved" it. They didn't really say why they were shutting these down, but i assume it was because of the lack of interest, not from people, but from staff. so in other words R.I.P the servers where me and CyclonatorZ had years of fun.
To add to Mr.Geebs post, I will say that ProbablyAServer was one of the purest TF2 experiences you could have before Meet Your Match. Back years ago, the server list was already dominated by trade/idle, custom gamemodes, and servers with terrible plugins, clans, paid slots, and so on. PAS, on the other hand, was strictly vanilla TF2, and on top of that it had a pretty decent community. They actually had even more servers than my brother mentioned - I believe there was a CTF Rotation at one point - and they would occasionally run maps that had just been introduced in an update. I'm pretty sure they ran Snowplow for a day after the fallout from it not being included in the finalized End of the Line update. To see the whole thing sunk by the owners and staff, even though the servers they have left still are populated throughout the week, really brings a tear to my eye. With its passing, the TF2 I knew when I first started playing is finally gone. What's left is a game that plays well but is utterly missing the sense of community and warmth it had years ago. And I say this as someone who likes casual matchmaking a lot.
PAS were one of the best community servers I played on. Really sucks to see them go.
Grey said the problem with valve's structure is "no one knows anything" he said he asked valve devs about source 2, and they just kept referring to other devs, which started going in circles. VNN said he has similar stories but keeps them private.
You mean nobody knows what's going on when nobody is in charge/gives any sort of direction? WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT!!!
Who would have thought Gabe Newell's son, of all people, would be so willing to spill the beans about Valve's sorry state. The whole interview also seems to paint a picture of a current day GabeN who is powerless to change the direction of his company, and washes his sorrows away in endless Dota 2. Which doesn't make a lick of sense, since he owns the whole damn thing - but that's the impression I've come away with nonetheless. Is he just a tired old man who can barely speak for himself anymore, let alone Valve?
a game that plays well but is utterly missing the sense of community and warmth it had years ago
damn. I think you hit the nail on the head right there.
There's legitimately nothing I wish more than my old favorite community servers. I honestly wish QP and Casual never existed, and were instead replaced by a superior Server Browser system with ratings, reputation, etc. Only matchmaking I'd be interested in in that scenario would be a Competitive Matchmaking system that actually follows 6v6 class limits. I actually have a friend who frequents a community server I occasionally play on. He makes golden content like this that, imo, epitomizes the kind of fun that you can only get on a community server. Still sad community servers are shutting down I think I played the probablyaserver turbine one some. Just airshot a pyro, he lands on my head, deals 140 damage in about 0.5 seconds. Skill class.
deals 140 damage in about 0.5 seconds. That's lucky compared to my experiences.
That reminds me of Cactus Canyon during yesterday's Facepunch event, where the Pyro named Gay Luigi mmphed his phogistinator and proceeded to kill over half of our team in about 2.5 seconds.

yeah ban anything that kills me. dying fucking sucks. also how do i fly as demostrations man
yeah ban anything that kills me. dying fucking sucks. also how do i fly as demostrations man
haven't we been over why sniper is more annoying than the other classes, don't bait this conversation again

What old style skins would you like brought back as war paint? I'd like: Liquid Asset Sandstone Special Top Shelf High Roller's Dressed to Kill Coffin Nail Killer Bee Red Bear Butcher Bird Airwolf Blitzkrieg Corsair
"what's this, a utilitous uber tool that allows me to feasibly counter a sniper? lol no fucking banned enjoy snipers dominating every sightline for the rest of your competitive career until you get fed up and quit because the meta fucking sucks"
Vaccinator isn't banned in 6s because of Snipers, it's banned because there aren't many players. Demoman and Scout are completely shut down by Vaccinator, as are most Soldiers (they're usually running Gunboats). In other words, it's not fun to play against. Anyway, just like I think Sniper is bad design, I think Vaccinator is bad design. There's a lot of balancing this game needs.
