I just experienced the most childish thing in MvM: So we made it to the final wave, and one of the 3/4 high tour players tries to votekick me cause i'm "not doing enough damage as an offense class", the vote fails and for the next few waves they decide to fuck over everyone because of me. I've seen people who are salty before in MvM, but these people were so salty that if they fell into Niagara falls all the water would be drained in an instant. It was like watching a bunch of children throw a tantrum in the server. Sometimes I wonder how people who act like this in-game are in real life :v:.
I've met people like this couple of times in MvM so far. It's mostly the 100+ tours people.
Had a medic with 800 tours week ago, he joined the game and just said "lol, we dont have a demo" and just went afk and refused to play.
We kicked him and easily finished the tour.

Above is a server community that ran Minecraft, Gary's Mod, Ark, but most importantly, TF2. Sadly all that's left is Tf2's servers, which will also be shut down February first. Why? well the others servers died I assume because of lack of interest, but the Tf2 servers were active and loved by many, though the admins had different views about them. You see, there were Harvest, Turbine, Payload Rotation, and Dustbowl, but the admins seemed to only like one of these when I talked to them, and that one was Dustbowl. Now, this was only some of the admins views, the other few I have no clue about, as they never got on the discord so I could see there opinions on the matter.
So anyway, after a while the Dustbowl and payload shut down. I do not know the reason, but I think it had to do with money. Then most admins started leaving and the ones that were left stayed on turbine. Soon all stopped playing. I was confused about why so I joined the discord they had to find out why. It seemed they were only wanting to play Dustbowl, that is the few that got on to talk. They acted like ctf and koth were a sin. Now this doesn't bother me, but the fact that they never resigned from staff did. They just stayed staff while playing Overwatch. Now the owners might like more maps and modes, but i have never seen them on in the 2 years i played here.
Now here's the good part. Since they were shutting the Tf2 servers down, they thought "why not bring back Dustbowl for a few days?". Well when they did, I have scarce seen anyone play it, including the admins who "loved" it. They didn't really say why they were shutting these down, but i assume it was because of the lack of interest, not from people, but from staff. so in other words R.I.P the servers where me and CyclonatorZ had years of fun.
Man, sorry about that. I found out a few months ago that during my two-year-hiatus from TF2 the community server I used to play on (Schlachtfestchen.de) got shut down due to similar reasons. It was one of these servers that had admins online every evening and they would play all these custom maps and add silly server plugins... Good times. RIP, probablyaserver.com.

You think that's bad? Imagine being a fan of Mecha the Slag's servers before he started working on A Hat in Time. There were 5 or 6 different servers, they were almost always full, the community was thriving, even the Slag forums where basically awash with people. Parkour Fortress was just released and blooming with a bunch of amazing community maps, and the future looked bright for TF2Ware as Mecha was working on it and things were coming along well.
Then he started work on Hat in Time. Everything stopped. Every Slag server died and is currently dead except for Parkour Fortress. There's no clear evidence he'll even come back to TF2 modding, TF2Ware, PF, and Advanced Weaponizer are all up in the air and have been for at least 3 years now.
The servers weren't just gone, they were left on, but nobody's there. That's the worst feeling, you can come back and see the servers again, but there'll be nobody around to play with.
I'm not saying Mecha is a bad person or the enemy for chasing his dreams, but a big part of my adolescence in TF2 was in his servers. The Snowman event, the return of TF2Ware, the goofy serverside purchaseable skins, playing on Mandrillmaze with 20 other regulars, it's all gone and may never happen again.

Parkour Fortress #1 is the only live server they have now, and it still somehow "works" mechanically but lots of other things within it are broken. Regardless, the server still ranks #225 in GameTracker.
Mecha will never come back. He basically left his community and closed the forums without a word (which left everyone with a bad taste of mouth, because there's no forum archive of it anywhere), and the only thing standing is the Slag Loadout from which almost all of its items are unusable. Looking back on it, the A Hat In Time badge from Slag feels really bittersweet as well, which you obtained by giving it a thumbs up on Greenlight (back when it was a thing):

All of the Slag Regulars have moved onto other things or into Red Sun Over Paradise, its spiritual sequel. You could check that community out if you'd like, they're cool, either the staff or community members make content regularly as well, but it can feel rather shitposty and cliquish, moreso in their Discord, so it doesn't feel like Slag, having more of its own identity than anything, so it's not for everyone. players have almost no animations
all cosmetic items disabled
minimum graphics quality and then some
basically no particle effects
no viewmodels
very minimalistic hud
yep, looks like comp footage

Can't forget the lack of editing and sound besides really jarring music that cuts in well over 20 seconds in and over-used meme.

The missing animations are because demos are broken
actual great players usually have zero cosmetic and they just look like default classes
I wish this wasn't the case, as most who don't use cosmetics like to talk about how they are better than you and how TF2 should had never added hats, also i swear most people like this play sniper, and ONLY sniper.
I heard from one guy that he took of all of his cosmetics when pubbing because people pocket you/focus you/hit you with frying pans in spawn when you've got 3 unusuals on. When you're playing on a pub you typically don't want the entire server to know that you've got 8k hours in the game or for them to identify you as a particular comp player.
How long would a speedrun of the Jungle Inferno Campaign take?
Any% and 100%.
I seriously have no idea and kinda wanna try it out.

It's true. I'm a Spy main, and I definitely play proportionally more aggressive around less-fancy players. I think a lot of people underestimate you when you don't have any colorful warning signs equipped, just because there's so many incredibly bad F2Ps in the game.

N/A because that's not how TF2's contracts work. They can't be speedrun. They rely on complete RNG, enemies, maps, contract paths, right down to kills, random crits, etc
It'd be like trying to speedrun a MOBA. It's literally not possible.

as much as a you can build a competent team and blaze through 2fort and turbine/defense bonuses.

you don't "speedrun" sub-missions in a multiplayer game that is completely relying on live opponents
At least you can speedrun something in tf2. :v:

The only way you could kinda do it would be to get a party of 6 good players and pub stomp your way through the contracts. Even then it would take a good amount of time since the contact bonus objectives are designed to be a bit of a grind.
geez you guys are really angsty about the word speedrun, let me reword it then:
How long would a single session - on average - of completing every single contract in jungle inferno take? Like a rough estimate, basically.
I saw some people throw around 10 hours, but that seems kinda extreme.
Doing all of the bonuses I think would probably take a good 20 hours.
I have this weird vivid memory when I was screwing around with the tf2 models in the model viewer super long time ago. Why is the MvM community full of assholes. I queue for MvM and get put into a match, 3 people leave instantly and me and the other 2 random guys wait for over 30 minutes for other players. Queue footage of random people joining and leaving or sitting afk and then disappearing. When a group of 3 finally joins, they start freaking out and saying "You've been stuck on wave 1 for half an hour??? You guys fucking suck!!!" and then tried to votekick us. Uhh no we've been waiting for players in this apparently dead game mode?
Unless you have 5 friends to play MvM with what the hell are you meant to do. Australiums are probably only so expensive because of how much a pain in the ass MvM is instead of rarity.

We can't really say how long. What about the time to find a casual match, or RNG due to crits and such. It could be anywhere from 10 hours to ∞.
People are generally unpleasant in Mann Up MvM because they try to get profits out of the rewards and Two Cities is just dull and unenjoyable in general, so yeah, it's much better to play it with friends.

It's....immeasurable. You can't measure the time it takes to complete these contracts. It's just not feasible. There are too many variables. At best you can assume they'd take a long time. Maybe you get a bunch of really good teams that let you breeze through the contracts and their side-missions. At worst you get shit teams that mean you have to spend hours on end. You literally can't measure it. If you wanted you could farm them with friends but even then it's still immeasurable, you have to factor in finding empty servers, making sure the servers stay empty so you can complete the contracts, whether or not your friend(s) are quick enough to get back to you whenever they die... there's hundreds upon thousands of tiny variables that make it literally impossible to measure.
Also going "wow u guys sure are butthurt about the word 'speedrun' lel" when -you- made the mistake of assuming a game like TF2 could be speedrun'd is childish.

Using all stock or gibus should be a great way to generate salt if you are good at the game.

any% wouldn't take long. pretty much any contract can be baseline finished in a match if you're good and it's not a complete roll.
regardless it's a multiplayer shooter and that sort of run wouldn't make sense in the slightest. it's like when a game has a hard/specific multiplayer achievement, and there's threads posted on advice to get it and the responses range from people who serendipitously stumbled upon it and people who have been clamoring at it for weeks with no success. your mileage may vary.

This is true, but after 20 minutes of you doing good even without any hats, you will still get focused.
It's the TF2 mentality, you're destroying someone? Good, he will only focus you ignoring every objective and every other player and will purely just go for you.
I play alot on my alt account, I noticed that people with expensive items are gonna go full mad against you If you kill them.
Also on a sidenote, It's really funny when they switch to the same class you're playing and use the same weapons trying to show you that they are better at "this" than you are lmao.
Why don't we just play TF2 and not try to "speedrun" it.

I get some consolation out of making good players switch to a bad class like spy just for me. i'm making it easier for my team in a way.
