Weapon model/silhouette clarity is still a thing, as much as a meme as it and actual class visual clarity have become in the TF2 fandom. That's why they only chose the specific weapons they did for new skins.
I was just doing the flare gun contract and I accidentally ended up killing a scout with after burn as I pulled out my flare gun. It gave me the point and I completed the contract even though in the kill feed it said the degreaser killed him.
Actually, I wonder if the "Get kills with this weapon" contracts only check to see if you have the weapon out instead of having to deliver the final blow.

It does.
You can have a sentry kill people while you hold the shotgun out. Cant remember for sure but i think "finishing off" a player counts as well.

The only time you need to know if he's using the stock shovel or market gardener is if the soldier is rocket jumping straight for you... and about 99.999% of the time I think we know which melee it is going to be...

I noticed that my weapon skins still took a second or two to load the other day. We can only hope Jill will be able to bestow TF2 with the texture hinting in the Christmas update.

In what way do you need to tell the MG from the shovel? If you're fighting someone on land, it makes no difference other than he can't get random crits with it and it fires slower, which is 100% good for you and not something you need to be aware of in general. If he's trying to market garden you, he's obviously using it too, nobody jumps at you with a stock shovel.

In the way that it's a different weapon with different stats? Complain about it having almost no different stats all you want, it's still a basic artistic rule you have to follow. Visual clarity.

In other words, whenever there's a chance to game or exploit a system for free TF2 stuff or games on Steam and the like, a certain amount of unscrupulous people will do it, and often end up forcing the hand of Valve or a community site, shitting in everybody's cereal and ruining nice things for all users.
Not quite the same, but similar - remember the Steam Sale events from like 2010 and 2011 that had a bunch of cool rewards like sets of extensive minigames and challenges, being able to get free games, someone winning an entire Library of Wishlisted games etc.? Don't remember the details, but the whole ''use coal to craft/obtain free games'' system was exploited by certain users who ended up hoarding the majority of gifts and goodies, and we've never gotten anything similar in Steam Sales since.
Of course, it's possible that the stingy Valve of recent years would have cut down on events like that even if they hadn't been exploited, but I bet it certainly was a factor.
Wow, finally joined a hydro server and to be expected many players were just clueless on how it worked.

Its more of a "i could use this chance to fullfill this map's contract" instead of "to think i still have to beat hightower to do hydro's".

not sure why Dragon's Fury completely bypasses the Fists of Steel resist
The FoS has some really odd behavior with flame damage. I was helping a friend complete a FoS contract, and he was in turn helping me finish a Phlog one. When he had the FoS out and I damaged him with the Phlog, my mmph meter filled up REALLY quickly. Something on the order of several times faster than it should have done. I haven't tested the FoS vs the Dragon's Fury, but it would not surprise me that combination was bugged as well.

that's normal with Enforcer.
but FoS resists anything that comes out of a firearm. At least it used to.
