But TF2 is a much more competitive game than overwatch
pyro is so good now i'm a 6s pocket player at ok-ish level, and I've been having a lot of success replacing my soldier with pyro on specific maps, mostly gullywash but it's been somewhat good on reckoner/viaduct too. I think pyro is in a really good state now, since before he only really had viability on defending last and a couple of fringe moments, tbh I think right now a really good pyro is probably fulltime viable to an extent, since I'm not all that good on pyro The flame changes make the primary so much better to use. I don't know much about the flail technique as my sensitivity is too low to make use of it without it destroying my hand, I'm only really waving when I'm trying to hit multiple people, but I can tell you it's very very usable against good players even without it. (e- point I'm trying to make here is that if/when it gets fixed pyro will still be in a great spot)
That was the best Competitive Grand Final past 3 years.
also true though I wish they'd had some of the old casters who moved to overwatch (

A Bug that needs to be addressed. I'd also personally like the thermal thruster to get better switch speed, but take normal fall damage as well. So bombing on Pyro is more functional in less horizontal jumps, and the nearly free mobility of the jet pack is removed. Seriously though, why does Pyro get nearly free mobility on weapons lol?
On the topic of Pyro, things I'd want changing as a quality of life improvement over the already improved Pyro: - Make focusing a single target with all flamethrowers deal better damage than flailing like an idiot. - DragonFury's projectile hitbox to be reduced. (I don't hate the weapon, just feel using it is way too easy). - Jetpack switch away speed to be instant after a launch, but still return to the usual switch away animation if unlaunched. - Hot Hand (I know it's a joke weapon, but still) to grant faster melee speed on successful chained hits. [sp]*insert fists of the north star joke*[/sp] - Flamethrower visuals to be partially transparent so combat with a Pyro on the same level isn't so jarring.
A bit late but:
If they can mess with addcond, why haven't we seen anyone spawn mannpower powerups? That'd be fucking hilarious seeing how when you die it'd be given to the enemy team. That's a hack I wouldn't mind. :v:
It doesn't work that way, cheaters can't give themselves conditions. It's a feature in various cheats nowadays to have a "Reset Conditions" feature that is basically a client-side hyper-speedhack that works for 0.1 seconds but basically gets rid off of any time-based limitations or conditions. This includes instant CP capping, instant taunting (this used to crash servers due to instanced_scripted_sequence entity spam, now fixed), being able to walk through spawn gates when closed, abusing small/medium health/ammo pickups by picking multiples of it (on their game, the map goes "faster" and therefore multiple health and ammo kits spawn, giving them full health if they spam the cheat) and more, and people who use it will do a distinct "burping" noise. You can read more about it here but there is not much to it.
I make that sound when my ancient PC decides to stutter and do nothing for a good 5-10 seconds. I guess the sound is triggered when all the packets I should have been sending arrive all at once?
While the expectations for Smissmas are extremely varying I certainly hope they add some taunts the talented folk of the secret item creator society has put out, this one being my favorite.
I reaaaaaly wish the team would fix all the visual bugs that occur when you force viewmodel fovs past 70 90 feels so much better but I hate seeing weird things like extra hands or inside my characters arms I usually end up just hiding them completely unless i'm playing with the original
I make that sound when my ancient PC decides to stutter and do nothing for a good 5-10 seconds. I guess the sound is triggered when all the packets I should have been sending arrive all at once?
It's supposedly triggered when your TF2 is unresponsive, and when you come back that sound will be played. In a cheater's case their PC isn't unresponsive, just (ab)using the cheat, and very likely you'll hear that sound multiple times coming from them. My theory is that the burp happens because in their PCs they "lagged" for a great amount of time (it is technically a speedhack of sorts) and then they come back with all of their conditions removed and such.
that burp noise is wierd, i've always heard it in various source games after coming back from huge lag spikes but never thought much about it it sounded more like a gasp to me, like your character has been stuck unable to breathe and when you finally reconnect it's like they just surfaced from some water
that burp noise is wierd, i've always heard it in various source games after coming back from huge lag spikes but never thought much about it it sounded more like a gasp to me, like your character has been stuck unable to breathe and when you finally reconnect it's like they just surfaced from some water
The soundfile is called "pl_drown1.wav" and if I'm not mistaken, under gameplay circumstances it plays after you come back to get air if you're drowing in water, so yes, you'd be correct to call it a "gasp" of sorts, but I call it a burp since that's what everybody else calls it, at least under a cheating context.
That might be why I associate lag with suffocation.
Do you guys think that the next tf2 comic will come out before 2020?
Do you guys think that the next tf2 comic will come out before 2020?
I don't think it will ever come out, so no.
#70 #80 crates do not exist.
Smissmas 2017. What are we hoping for? All I want for Smissmas is the competitive overhaul, and balancing of the rest of the banned 6s (and highlander) weapons. If Heavy gets an update, I want it to be here too. Today is the 7th, so, according to previous Smissmas updates (whether or not they're called Smissmas), we're around 2 weeks out, as seen here.. 2016: dec 21st 2015: 17th 2014: 22nd 2013: 20th 2012: 20th 2011: 15th 2010: 17th 2009: 17th
I doubt we'll see a Heavy update now, but optimistically we'd get comp overhaul and some more rebalances, and that would make it a great update

There are two things that could happen in my eyes: Comp, or nothing. Nothing because Jungle Inferno released 2 months ago and it would be insane to expect them to wrap up the heavy update in 2 months. Comp because it was cut from Jungle Inferno and obviously has a good chunk of work done to it, with a lot of stuff even slippin' through Jungle Inferno. I wanna believe in Comp but I'm actually kind of leaning with the pessimistic side for once, because The way Jill said this makes me think they want to make it flashy. An Update only featuring Comp probably isnt up the standards of flashy the TF Team is imagining. But we'll see soon enough, they cant delay Christmas afterall.
The way Jill said this makes me think they want to make it flashy. An Update only featuring Comp probably isnt up the standards of flashy the TF Team is imagining.
I absolutely freaking hate this. Every single update they push out needs to have some stupid gimmick or something just dumb. I just want basic updates and tweaks so the game isn't a mess all year round.
Nothing because Jungle Inferno released 2 months ago and it would be insane to expect them to wrap up the heavy update in 2 months.
Not really. Most of Heavy's issues can be fixed through balance changes. Pyro had to have the janky fire particle physics completely overhauled. It took me less than an hour to come up with a list of heavy balance changes that was well-received. Implementation shouldn't take 2 months.
It feels like such a waste to have systems such as the Replay and the Coach features and not have them fixed for the Casual and Competitive modes. Replays because, after the competitive remake, people are going to share their best moments that they've done in a serious setting (if it ever becomes a serious thing, that is), and even in Casual you could still use it to share silly moments as well, not to mention that the Replay UI is easier to use compared to demos, which are more rudimentary. It could also increase TF2's exposure to other people due to an influx of new videos on YouTube, gfycats, and so on. The Coach feature has a lot of potential as well when it comes to teaching newbies, moreso considering how much new and old people have came after the Jungle Inferno update, and calling a coach could help them learn and refresh things. The new UI that came with the Jungle Inferno update could also accomodate coaches better with a "Be a Coach" tick/selection which you could choose to coach a party, DotA2 style. Feels a tad sad considering that only a few days of work would only be necessary to make them work, since all they'd need to do would be to enable replays on every TF2 Valve server and fix the few bugs that demos have, enable Ad-Hoc connections only for coaches/let them join in on a queue to join the server, and so on. I'm probably the only one that feels like this, but it would make TF2 feel more polished this way.

Coming up with a list of changes is fine but executing and testing them can take a long time. Besides there is more to a Class Update than balancing.
i got a plaid stickybomb. tbh it looks like scotch tape lol
If you have the censored version of TF2 and want to have your TF2 filled with gibby goodness as TF2 is finally uncensored in Germany, here's what you need to do to actually get the uncensor: https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/7i1deo/steam_support_removes_low_violence_filters_for/

Why not let the community test good ideas, then change them *often* with feedback?
You're acting like all updates these days are going to take the time JI did. Nobody bothered with it, so they scrapped it.
I think I just threw up in my own stomach.
You're acting like all updates these days are going to take the time JI did. Why not let the community test good ideas, then change them *often* with feedback?
I certainly don't hope so but you are acting as if there is nothing else to do in these 2 months. The reason why they don't do that has been explained already. On paper the idea of a tf2 beta is pretty good but in execution it ends up falling flat - Look at Overwatch. Has a lot more players yet the PTR is often dead.
They tried that with the TF2 beta. They also tried weird shit like each class having twice as much health. Nobody bothered with it, so they scrapped it.
Yeah, they tried to do it with the TF2 Beta but apparently it was even worse then just doing it themselves...
