Was it ever said how old (at least approximately) are the TF2 classes? The only definite age I can remember is the Scout's: in the description of his "Track Terrorizer" item, he is stated to be 23 years old; therefore, he was born in 1945 (1968 minus 23). As for the others, all I can guess is that the oldest mercenary is perhaps the Soldier.
My guess is Soldier and Engineer are probably the oldest while Sniper is the second youngest.

Junction would probably work better in CS than it does in this game.
I actually like Junction and was hoping this was real, shame on you
Junction was actually praised for it's level of detail at TF2maps.com, back when it still was new. But as with most cramped maps, the gameplay proved itself infamously bad.
When has smissmass been historically?
When has smissmass been historically?
Recent years have been the 20th to the 22nd, the Australian Christmas updates were the 17th and the 15th.
Junction would probably work better in CS than it does in this game.
you'd have to play with with nothing but engies and snipers.
What the story about it being an Ex-CS:GO map?

Also on a side note, I kind of wish they'd take the spawns in Harvest and redo the spawnroom sections so they're better then what we have now. More or less make it that the spawn room area is larger perhaps and the doors are more spaced out so demomen can't lock down teams lol. I still love Harvest, have for years... Easy map to get into and quick to get to the middle to fight the enemy team.
thats the joke Junction is the worst map available in team fortress 2 and I cannot believe the creator of this *harvest* and this *borneo* and this *cat person* Created the Abomination that is the Ex-CS:GO map junction
I don't think Heyo understood exactly how a fun TF2 map plays back when he made it. But we all make mistakes! That's how we learn, after all.
I don't think Heyo understood exactly how a fun TF2 map plays back when he made it. But we all make mistakes! That's how we learn, after all.
I support this statement whole hardedly. People don't start off as the best, they become it.
I'll be honest I like some of the shitty maps because they play differently than the standard, but that's the only reason. 2fort is a guilty pleasure.
I'll be honest I like some of the shitty maps because they play differently than the standard, but that's the only reason. 2fort is a guilty pleasure.
Hydro is my guilty pleasure, I just find it fun due to how unique it is
Cool story bro about Junction. Prior to Gun Mettle, I had never played it. In years of TF2, I never once encountered it. Not long after GM dropped, /r/tf2 had a "what is the worst map in the game?" vote. Junction won handily. I thought "hmm, if it's so bad, I'll have to check it out." I did search in the server browser (remember that thing?) for cp_junction and found a Valve server (remember those?) running it. I did an ad-hoc join (remember when we could DO THAT?) and went to spectate (DITTO.) I saw explosion spam everywhere, sentries in horrible spots, and a general shit show. I noticed a soldier with one of those new skinned rocket launcers. Huh, Sand Cannon, Elite Grate, imagine that. It's strange, too. (I don't remember the wear level, it had plenty of scratches.) Oh. The owner renamed it "Sand [N-Word]" and put SP: Demomen killed on it. Aaaand I'm done with TF2 for the night. Also, while I have no idea how a map as bad as Junction got into the game, I'd like to point out one thing: Harvest is not that good. It's ugly, consisting of 794 shades of monkey shit brown. It's miserable to play the objective on. I had to slog through the Harvest contract three times. The contracker lost my progress the first time, and then I did it again to help a friend. I hate that map. The sniper sightlines are bullshit, bombing soldiers are endlessly annoying and post-JI pyros are terror incarnate. Heyo has made some great maps. Harvest (and Junction) are not among that list.
I'll be honest I like some of the shitty maps because they play differently than the standard, but that's the only reason. 2fort is a guilty pleasure.
I agree on having differentiating gameplay maps on the menu, it's not a sin to get bored of something you feel oversaturated with. Badwater is a good example. It's seen as a good map, a lot of people play it on Casual, but after about 2 matches on it I feel like mixing things up and playing Goldrush instead. Most of you probably aren't as scatterminded as I am, enjoying single maps for a lot longer. But you'll definitely know when the time comes. One of my red flags to change maps is when I feel like shoving that roof engineer's sentry up his ass.
I did an ad-hoc join (remember when we could DO THAT?)
Ad-Hoc is back though. Kinda, you can join your friends in-game and it actually works, too. It belongs in the same group as Hightower, awful, awful maps, but they are fun to goof and DM around in. Junction on the other hand is just bad and makes me wanna off myself, Id actually prefer Hydro and still cant believe it isnt in the misc section of the map browser some peoples first tf2 map has been junction, people. Pyro: ??? Demo: I'd have to guess mid to late 30s, just by his looks. Heavy: According to Meet The Director, his father was killed in the Bolshevik Revolution (1917-1922) when he was a child. So given those 5 years and the fact that it just says "child" and not any particular age, I'm just gonna say Heavy is early to late 40s. Engineer: Had 11 PhDs and spent 10 years working in Texas. Assuming he started at age 18 with a 4 year undergraduate degree, and was brilliant enough to earn 2 PhDs at a time, every 2 years (essentially 1 PhD every year), then the Engineer would be 43. Assuming he did not earn multiple PhDs at one time, he would be 54 years old. Both are equally plausible. Medic: It's been stated before that Medic is not a Nazi, so instead of assuming he was born directly after the fall of Nazi Germany (which would put him in his 30s, he definitely doesn't look that young), let's assume he was around 18 in 1942, halfway through WWII. That'd put him at 44 years old. Easily believable. Sniper: Hard to tell, but in the comics his parents appeared elderly, so I think it'd be safe to assume he's somewhere in his 30s to early 40s. Spy: Old enough to be the father of Scout (who is 23), and assuming Spy had Scout when he was in his mid 20s or early 30s, that gives us a range from somewhere in his 40s to somewhere in his 50s. I'd air on the side of mid to late 40s.
Pyro is actually an mummy from ancient egypt.
Pyro is actually an mummy from ancient egypt.
Or is he an alien from the future?
Pyro is a haunted asbestos suit, there's nothing inside
I think Harvest is good. All classes can thrive in it. The point is difficult to defend, meaning whoever caps first doesn't have an enormous advantage (lookin' at you, Lazarus!) You can still get around even if there are two good enemy snipers. There's no nigh-unassailable sentry lock-down spots. They should connect spawn's left side to the building so you can't spawn camp from the roof, but still. It may not be perfect, but it's a legitimately good koth map and I'm surprised to see it dissed.
some peoples first tf2 map has been junction, people.
It was my first back in 2009, didn't stop me from enjoying the game and still having fun on it to this day. I'll admit it's incredibly cramped but that's always been part of the appeal, managing to push past C is satisfying once you finally manage to get the upper hand.
But Hydro is in Misc.
I was refering to Junction
Scout: 23
That is wrong! Im assuming youve got this from Track Terrorizer? That has been deconfirmed. All we know is that he is atleast 26 years old in the comics as seen in The Naked And The Dead. We dont know how old he is in-game, though.
Scout is 23 in-game, anything post-MVM is in 1972, hence Scout being 27 in The Naked and The Dead
So from what I recall about junction it's main downfall is its theming. Can't even remember how it plays.
you aren't annoyed by snipers having free reign from basically their spawn?
The sniper class is a problem itself, however, on Harvest wherever a sniper sets up shop, you've still got a path to get around behind that sucker. Unless of course they get all the way to sniping at your spawn, but I've already conceded that spawn-campability is a bit of a problem for Harvest.
Scout is 23 in-game, anything post-MVM is in 1972, hence Scout being 27 in The Naked and The Dead
And where do we know when the Scout was born?
