This happened before Jungle Inferno.
Sure?, haven't noticed it before, do you remember when it started happening?
Surprised no one seems to give a shit about this - these are normal balance changes in a generic update
this could be the start of something beautiful
I think those were bug fixes.
Sure?, haven't noticed it before, do you remember when it started happening?
Yep. Around Spring/Summer.

One is a bugfix for something that only exists as a bug because of some under-the-hood fuckery with giving Pyro increased knockback and lower fall damage rather than having the item be straight up
+Is a jetpack
-Isn't a gun
The Atomizer got buffed but moreover they neglected to fix the actual problem with it. The damn thing needs to be fully brandished before offering its benefits, otherwise quickswitch scripts can and will be abused to the fullest of their potential.
I'd argue that fully brandishing needs to be a global thing for weapons that offer some passive (be it positive or negative) while drawn. The code already exists for the Half-Zatoichi's honorbound schtick, it should apply to the likes of the Atomizer, Gloves of Running Urgenty, Powerjack, Bushwacka, Thermal Thruster (moreover so players can cancel the animation to swap to a different weapon), Escape Plan, Eviction Notice, Claidheamor, etc

holy shit
[editline]14th December 2017[/editline]
never thought I'd see the day!!
I'm guessing that Atomizer change was just to make it so that the minicrit gimmick actually does more than the regular bat, even so this proves how simple it is for them to push out small individual balance changes

Duel season ended? Those titles have always been there.
People whine that Valve doesn't do rebalances in normal patches and when they finally do it no one cares. Poor Valve.
Probably because it's a negligable change lol. Nobody's ever going to use that minicrit mechanic.
Duel season ended? Those titles have always been there.
IIRC since dueling was released the leaderboard when loading into a map has always said "Top duel wins this season", never just "Top duel wins", and for a span of 87 years it was getting to be a pretty long season.
Duel season ended? Those titles have always been there.
It's a joke, they just removed the "this season" part to make it clear that it's an endless thing. There's not going to be another season or anything.

Multiple seasons would be fun, though.
I think those were bug fixes.
They specifically said "Updated" and not bug fix. Both of those were not bug fixes but balancing changes in a normal update.
Which still confuses me. Next week is Smissmas - who knows what itll be - and they push out a patch with a bunch of long requested changes and even some tiny balancing? Normally they keep those for the big patch aka Smissmas in this case.
I thought about this as if it confirmed that some balancing is going to be in Smissmas, since in the past some balancing changes did slip through normal updates sometimes - but those werent mentioned. The fact that these were mentioned is making me curious.
Then there is the thing where they fixed some bugs that mostly competitive players complained about that were a thing for years. Maybe it's a cheeky hint, eh?
Just seems off.
So... should I strike Duels off my List Of Valve's Dead Children? They are clearly supporting it again, with this huge amount of work that went into updating the feature.

Thing is, these "balance changes" were made to actually reflect the Jungle Inferno patch notes. And the PBPP change also was just a fix because it said "Up to +7". So there's no real balance changes.
Guess which big bubba just got a name tag as a drop
Probably you killed the robot Pyro, then it switched to Demoknight on the next sub-wave and technically it was credited to the same bot, just with a changed name.
I actually threw a Gas Passer and then immediately died, so I'm assuming the Gas Passer's "explode-on-damage" might have killed me. Usually the "owner" (the Pyro would could have reflected it) would be the one credited.

You are indeed correct, my bad. That's a shame, too.
However the rest still stands, we usually have a period of silence.
Invisible medigun bug seems to be fixed.

I'd say give it a bit more time to be sure... It didn't happen super often with me, so I'd rather play it safe and give it more time being coming to a conclusion that they resolved it already.
So in yesterday's update they added text if you try to open the ConTracker while taunting, and in English the text string is "You cannot open the ConTracker menu while taunting", but it's broken somehow so it says
"#TF_CYOA_PDA_Taunting". Can anyone who plays in another language see if it's broken for them as well?
Also, I can rate posts now!

Not broken for me.

I launched the game in Spanish and it just showed me the English string instead.
After a quick ctrl+F through some of the translation files, it looks like `tf_english.txt` was the only one updated with the string.

So, anyone making bets on when smissmass drops this year?
It basically has to be next week, since Monday's the holiday.

The Steam Winter Sale begins on the 21 December - Thursday.
As far as we know they never release Major Updates on Sale days and/or after - logical conclusion would be the 20th, then.
As far as content assumptions go it seems to be going from Comp, to Contracts, to absolutely nothing with a png of Dave Riller winking at us
I'm not a betting man, but if my life were on the line, I'd guess we get Christmas cosmetic crates, a few community christmas warpaints, a set of contracts for said crates/warpaints like the Halloween update, and MAYBE a bit more tuning of weapons that were overtuned or left in the dust by Jungle Inferno, namely PBPP, possibly Pyro flame mechanics, and Gas Passer.

You forgot a real nerf for the razorback, and the biggest balance breaker right now, the diamondback.
You forgot a real nerf for the razorback, and the biggest balance breaker right now, the diamondback.
Didn't the JI Razorback nerf completely fix it in Highlander? And I only ever consider the 6s whitelist, so the Diamondback, while it does need to be completely reworked, wasn't a priority to me.
Yeah but that nerf didn't do anything about it in regular play. Or that it's a counter weapon for a counter class, and one of the few weaknesses sniper actually has.
The JI changes were actually a straight buff to the average pub sniper. Nobody overheals the 5 snipers per team anyway.

Changes made to the game should be for competitive. If you're having problem against the Razorback Sniper, get a Medic friend and destroy the Sniper. Your Medic shouldn't even have to use Vaccinator. Sniper's main counter is Sniper, not Spy, in competitive play.
