While on the subject of weapon viewmodels, I'd love it if the TF2 Team gave us an option to disable the gradual loading-in of textures on first-person weapon models. Call me a graphics whore, but it's so ugly and jarring to me 2+ years after the change, and it gives a really bad impression - like a graphics glitch. Not to mention the blurry, low-res outline when placing buildings, christ that's ugly now. I can (and could before) run the game maxed out and never drop below 60 fps, plus I haven't noticed it improving fps in any way when they introduced the change. I also don't think it was the reason for the stuttering during the first seconds/minutes of joining a server, I'm pretty sure that is caused by all the assets/models being loaded in once a player joins a crowded server. It still happens (though less so than before) and I doubt turning max-res weapon textures back would make a huge difference stutter-wise. I would love it if it's possible to allow optional disabling of the function for those that don't want it, though I suspect it's hard-bound to how the game loads all the textures and assets nowadays, so it's likely not just a line of code or two they'd need to change. Still, not much (noticeable) gain for a very severe visual downgrade.
PLEASE. This has been bothering me since the day it was introduced to the game, and I hate it so goddamn much. It makes some weapons look really, noticeably ugly the first time you pull them out, especially things like the GRU, the Sapper, the Disguise Kit...
I still wait for them to fix the lower viewmodel bug with picking up weapons, they still use the non low viewmodels when you pick them up from the ground even if its the same weapon with the skin or festiviser.
Fun fact, an attribute called "min_viewmodel_offset" is actually what controls the weapons being lowered while using the min viewmodels setting. Weapons that don't have this attribute (because they don't have such setting enabled) will appear "raised" (or normal) because they don't have this attribute.
Wasnt there a console command/launch option to deal with the textures?
We must threaten Jill with XCode so we can finally get our texture hinting
After noticing the thruster had no lower quality lod models, I made a list of all the c_models without them. https://pastebin.com/eNDUSuDG Hope they add them at some point for better performance.
Has anyone else been seeing Soldiers with the Escape Plan be visibly marked for death despite not having the weapon out or being actually marked? That's not just me, right? I've been seeing it a lot since JI but I don't think I've seen anyone mention it.
Happened to me even with GRU pre-JI.
Yeah, I'd see it occasionally pre-Jungle Inferno, but it seems like almost every game now. And always Soldier. Never Rescue Range Engineer.
Aparently you can still force/cancel the Contracker animation into a taunt. but you can't use it the other way around [t]https://i.imgur.com/ud5iV9H.jpg[/t]
Happened to me even with GRU pre-JI.
I believe I'm in the same boat here. I've seen it even before JI...
Texture and code politics bore me. Instead, which items do you think will get in for smissmass to(week)morrow?
to(week)morrow?
...what?
...what?
Toweek as opposed to tomorrow is used as the running joke around here whenever we think something is going to happen, but then also remember this is valve we're talking about here. It broadens tomorrow into "sometime this week, for real this time guys". See: previous MUS before jungle inferno.
Trying to do the cart bonus on Banana Bay is so annoying holy crap.
Going by the History book and given tomorrow is the Steam Sale, tonite should be the nite.
Apparently the lmaobox Discord got taken down tonight: [t]https://i.imgur.com/QYW09uS.png[/t] While this is amusing, it's symbolic victory more than anything else. Unlike nullcore, the lmaobox website has a forum where users can be shitheads to each other and, uh, discuss cheat features. Speaking of nullcore, the dev is clearly having some trouble with his cheat after it got detected by VAC. First the NC site said the cheat would be back on Dec 8th, then between "the 8th and the 15." Now the current tagline is "Expect huge content update by the new year."
Returning to TF2, I've began to enjoy classes other than Scout. Starting with Heavy and now practicing Demo, I'm getting a hang of direct hits & arials. This spree felt great: [T]https://i.imgur.com/NgW3MaC.jpg[/T]
Tonights the night.
its beginng to look a lot like next week
I bet some will disagree and it goes against tradition, but I would prefer weapon skins over new festives this smissmas. The stuff I have seen on the emporium the past few weeks have been just so amazing, it would be just dumb to let those pass by.
Warpaints for heavy snacks. We already have it for mackerel so there is nothing to lose.
its beginng to look a lot like next week
Its Wednesday and people are already calling it off are you serious
Its Wednesday and people are already calling it off are you serious
I've called Flurry out for being overly optimistic before, but I'm with them on this. It's pretty much a given that this would be the week for it to drop. They added the Smissmas tag as an option for item creators in the importer and most of the past Smissmas updates fall on the week before Christmas. Usually near the end of that week. Dec 21 2016 - Wed (Smissmas 2016) Dec 17 2015 - Thurs (Tough Break) Dec 22 2014 - Mon (Smissmas 2014) Dec 20 2013 - Fri (Smissmas 2013) Dec 20 2012 - Thurs (Mecha Update) Dec 15 2011 - Thurs (Australian Christmas)

You were a little nuts during the slog to Jungle, but this time you're level. Even I think comp changes might drop in a best case scenario since they said they have been working on them when Jungle released.
hoping it's today just because I have work tomorrow. :v:
Yeah even if the next update is just a festiviser for all war paint weapons and a regular patch we'll get it this week. Hopefully we get the missing comp update too.
So, I'm literally two stars away from the australian contracker, and both of them are defense contracts on shitty maps. It got me thinking, and I've only just now realized what many people figured out the day the update launched: whoever was in charge of making the contracts just glanced at the stats and plugged in the top nine most played maps. Absolutely no consideration was made as to whether it would be a good idea to do this (lol, tdm_hightower), which makes me think this particular TF2 team member probably doesn't play the game much.
