10 year old game with a dev team that literally introduces new items, functions, and designs solely to say that they did and then don't touch them again
It kind of feels like a new person that learns to mod a video game system they got. "Oh man, what if it had a sticker system?" "OH MAN, WHAT IF WEAPONS COUNT KILLS TOO?" "oh shit, what if you could put skins on certain weapons?" "Dudes, stick with me - decals on cosmetics" "YOU CAN ONLY SEE CERTAIN ITEMS AND MAP MODIFICATIONS WITH CERTAIN COSMETICS"
That type of thing really gets my blood boiling, especially considering that these gimmicky and ADHD-fueled features are added in place of changes that are actually important. Meanwhile, said important changes take unreasonably long to arrive, if they arrive at all.
the design here is not the point, the problem is it not properly tiling and it lacking a phong mask.
there isn't anything wrong with a geometrical camo design, if he did it properly i would have not said anything.
and the minigun doing that is due to the UV of it, many skins will not tile properly on the front of the ammo barrel of the minigun.
neo tokyo is a really well made war paint and it tiles perfectly normally, and for the team colors... for some reason the team didn't add the blue version of it, it's not really the fault of the creators.
here is it happening with another pattern that tiles perfectly normally:

EDIT: just found out the miami element skin has the same problems with geometrical teams... and i just also realised you weren't even talking about the tiling of neo tokyo there, you were talking about the team colors... lol i can't fucking read.
Bomber Soul doesn't tile properly either, which sucks because the warpaint itself is cool, but it looks shitty on every single weapon because it clips at the edges.
but you didn't
Does this mean I can make war paints and unusual effects?
I wish I hadn't booted up TF2 for 5 minutes yesterday morning - got a Jungle Jackpot Case that sold for like 2 cents of profit, while I could have waited for the Smissmass update to drop and likely receive a weekly Winter War Paint Case that sold for like 1.5 euro yesterday... Now I have to wait for nearly a week to get another War Paint Case...
I know I sound like the cheapest bastard, but since I've cut down on TF2 spending a lot in recent years that new Case could've funded a few of the new hats or War Paints easily...
I kinda wish major updates with new Cases automatically gave one of them the first time a player launches TF2 after the patch. When something like this Smissmass hits while there's older event Cases still in circulation, there's a huge difference between getting one of the old Cases (worthless now) and one of the new ones that sell for good money in the first hours/day or two.
I don't understand the obsession Valve has with the balloonicorns and pyroland.
(This list is in no order)
-Two elite grade items that are just balloonicorn (Combustible Cutie and the Balloonihoodie)
-Balloonicorn taunt (The Balloonibouncer)
-Christmas variation of balloonicorn (Reindoonicorn)
-A whole freaking case for the dang thing (Pyroland Collection)
-They made a freaking pyroland room into their office (Just google 'valve pyroland room')
-Balloonicorn merch in the official store, a whole freaking section for it https://valvestore.welovefine.com/feature/ballonicorns.html
I would understand if this was a big thing in the community and everybody was into it, but it's not. Everybody here just seem confused as to why they're doing this, and they're not even doing anything to it in-game, like improving the pyrovision or something.

They know a portion of their audience is furfags and horsefuckers so they tend to cater to them.
and despite all that obsession, pyrovision only supports like 15% of the maps only due to laziness / unawareness
i geniunely grew hate over pyroland due to valve doing this stupid nonsensical obsession over it, valve in general obviously doesn't care about tf itself much other than nonsensical pyroland bloating for some reason, pretending like if tf2 is still their big primary game or something.

Or it could be most valve devs still love the tf universe but are tired of developing content for the game?

pyroland's not the whole tf universe though

Probably because it sells, or maybe they started something and they don't want to see it fade from existence... Like some of the features in this game. Medieval mode for instance.

Guess that requires effort on Valves end.... Or can that be done by map creators too? I presume it would be wouldn't it?

There's actually a file you can download to enable Pyroland on all maps. If I recall, the only thing that dictates whether Pyroland is possible for a map is the map's name being in a certain Pyroland text file.
I'm well aware. However this must mean there is a Rainy day backpack icon with a ribbon on it.. that somehow gets used. Sometimes. And it gets reset.
no it doesn't. cases are like skinned weapons - instead of having a pre-made backpack icon texture, they generate one on-the-fly by rendering the model. this is necessary for skins of course because each one is unique, but it's pretty pointless on cases. also, since the cosmetic cases all use a shared model with multiple skins, the ribbon is just a bodygroup that's turned on for smissmas cases. apparently, when it's rendering other cases, it gets switched on by mistake sometimes.

You can turn it on for any map, but it will be incomplete in most. Pyrovision alters textures in a certain way, and that texture remapping was only made in regards to certain maps.
To my knowledge, that remapping can't be defined by mapper or user, so we're limited to what exists. It looks kinda odd when only half of the textures in a map are Pyrovision.
I got kicked for trying to kick a obvious cheater :vs:
Screw my team Im more salty that my contract progress wasnt saved

They wasted money building a life size pyroland in their office space so to deal with the buyers remorse they force it on the community.
Remember when everyone thought Pyroland opened up the chance for more silly cosmetics cause they would only be visible in Pyroland?
Jesus you guys act like it's the end of the world that tf2 has silly hats when that was a thing since 8+ years ago

We can never have good things. People are willing to complain and bitch about everything, no matter how good/bad the update is, there will always be people who do not like it.
Viking helmets are actually 60s: in 60s there were movies containing medieval stuff.

The only reason you ever post is to object to someone having a criticism over the game, namely the artstyle.
I think you should consider the fact that the artstyle is fragile enough to define a difference between pyroland-locked cosmetics and outright fulltime pyroland inspired cosmetics.

What a ridiculously bad comparison.
Do these visually jarring and purposefully unfitting hats (so they can fit into pyro land, which is meant to be a stark contrast to the main game) resemble any of the original items added to the game?
I think freakin' not. Its time to confine these items to pyroland/halloween for a more consistent user experience.
If they were made for pyroland, put them there.
Because who the fuck cares anymore? What you gonna do, force them to remove the added hats from the game? It's too late, enjoy it while it lasts. Valve does not give a crap about our opinions and will keep adding the hats they like.
Deal with it, ignore it, disable pyrovision, whatever, It's not gonna change.

What a strong belief system. Give up, cave in and not bother saying anything. Very inspiring.

What else do you expect from Valve after all of these updates? Just to listen to us?
Pathetic, if so. It's not happening. Even the old devs complained about the art style of the game before, they ignored that, our complaints are not gonna do any impact.
What can you do however is tell the "famous" hat designers to stop adding crap that is appealing to "pony" and "furry" playerbases, one guy contributed to 10 hats this update, that means you could protest against him.

It's not a matter of expecting them to listen, i'm well past that point. It's a matter of shifting public opinion- which IS what valve listens to. Whether or not that happens, the day everyone gives up and stops because they can't be bothered is the day the game officially dies because it's no longer held to any standard.
A "what we're up too" blog post soon would be nice.

I don't know how we're gonna change the public opinion, since it's overwhelmingly against ours, we're one of the rare people who hate hats that do not fit the artstyle.
I mean, check TF2 workshop, It's full of balloonicors, furry hats and the list goes on. People also vote for them, reason they go to the front page and are being seen by Valve.
It's sad.

Says the contributor to the balloonicorn hat lol.
