Everyones gonna tell you that theyre just rare but after the shit Valve pulled with golden wrenches you have to be stupid to trust them. Im not letting that go.

Lighten up, brother. New Years is about to come soon, and the team has been awfully generous with some updates as of recently. Have a little faith in them now that they got JI out of the way. Maybe next year Heavy's update can come sooner than we all might think!

Its actually been quite a long time since a golden pan drop right now, so if you play a lot of mvm you could get lucky.
Its basically a timed drop like the golden wrenches, there's a pattern for sure.

Gimme the x10 needlegun for heavy.
Doesn't have to be entirely physical like sandman balls, just a minigun that has a projectile arch similar to a needlegun and that'd be golden.
Plus he is the [B]'Heavy Weapons' [/B]guy, so I'd like to see him wield something that isn't strictly a minigun.

I like how you get control/strafing after using the thruster, something like winston's jump from overwatch is more limited in comparison.
What about a Jetpack that replaces the Minigun on heavy?

I can shed some light on this, but it may not be anything you didn't already know. Energy Orb is one of the original 4 unusual weapon effects. Valve still have not released a new set of weapon effects (something widely anticipated prior to Jungle Inferno.) The the fact that they did not release new effects (or new achievements, or a host of other missing bits) leads one to believe that they ran out of time with JI. Given how understaffed the TF2 team is, this really isn't a surprise. 470 days is a long time, but not for such a skeleton crew to work on such a nightmare of spaghetti code that is TF2.
Energy Orb was only ever unboxable from Gun Mettle cases. This included Scatterguns, Pistols, Rocket Launchers, Shotguns, Flame Throwers, Stickybomb Launchers, Miniguns, Sniper Rifles, Medi Guns and Revolvers. I should point out something important at this juncture: unusual weapon effects are not one particle effect, scaled to each weapon. Each iteration is its own effect in the game. That is (for example): energy_orb_minigun; hot_shotgun; cool_sniper_rifle; isotope_scattergun. It makes sense why Valve would do this. The Source engine is already bending over backwards to render all the shit they've throw in the game and having to scale particle effects would probably break it completely.
When Tough Break arrived, Energy Orb was not included in the list of effects. Back then Valve did not LIST the specific effects a case could produce (they did that relatively recently.) I remember discussing the lack of new EO weapons with a friend of mine at the time. Eventually we figured out there were no EO TB weapons. The theory now is that since TB weapons included Wrenches and Knives, Valve couldn't get the effect to work with them and canned it. Apparently they can't have effects enabled for only certain types of weapons. Related, I get the feeling the unusual effect lookup table is a complete mess. Note that unusual non-hat equip region "misc" items have been disabled since just before Halloween 2016. Ostensibly, the reason for this is to avoid glitch items like the unusual Hunter Heavy and Coffin Kit. In practice, who knows?
With the arrival of JI and War Paints, we got some much needed flexibility with skinned/unusual weapons. The number of weapons is HUGELY bigger now and all of them can be unusual ...with the same 3 effects we've seen since Gun Mettle, 2 1/2 years ago. Worse still, many of the weapons look really stupid with certain effects. Isotope is terribad on the Powerjack. Hot is really poorly positioned on the Degreaser. There are numerous other examples where the unusual effect is sloppily applied to the weapon. Again, it's clear the TF2 team ran out of time while working JI. Getting an instance of the 3 weapon effects on all of the weapons they wanted to add would have taken ...another 470 days.
Clearly, there are other problems with unusual weapon effects than just poor positioning. As of right now, it's impossible to get Energy Orb even out of Gun Mettle cases. I had a long discussion with an other fried of mine who is also an obsessive nutter. He showed me an untradable EO shotgun which he surmised had been unboxed by the owner. I concluded that he bought it off the SCM, from a seller with a private backpack.
As far as I know, there are no new Energy Orb weapons being unboxed, and there haven't been any for quite some time. Exactly why is only something Valve can answer. I'd say it's probable, even likely, that they didn't *mean* to remove EO from GM cases, but did so as a side effect of releasing War Paints.
The end result here is that Energy Orb is the [url=https://backpack.tf/effect/Energy%20Orb]rarest weapon effect,[/url] by an order of magnitude. Strange EO weapons are even more rare (roughly, 1 in every 10 is strange.) For-profit traders don't particularly like them, but the handful of nutters like myself do jealously guard the weapons we have.
Last tidbit, Energy Orb isn't even a new particle effect. It's just a Scorch Short projectile, elongated. It sure looks cool, though. Valve/10.

I'm not THAT well known, they have to notice the war paint first
what heavy could really use right now is a single shot weapon as a primary. a true sidegrade for the minigun mechanic just like the DF did.
