With Trade.TF dying, so does the human side of trading. Now all that's left are instant respond 24/7 bots and scrap.tf / mannco.trade / stntrading.eu it's a real shame it's hard to trade with an actual person anymore.

Not that human trading is worth keeping anyways, it's literally only encouraged scammers, I'd prefer an only trade offers system any day of the week.

Geel if you're reading this. Please make an update bot like trade.tf had and make update item list page when update is released :))
Problems with TF2 in late 2017, off the dome: * Still no method to funnel traffic to community servers other than the 2007-AF server browser. Gaben's beefy hand held most community servers under water until the twitching stopped. * Pyro is a goatfuck of WTF mechanics, at least as much as he was prior to Jungle Inferno. Flame thrower spazzing counters Scout and Heavy. The Dragon's Fury counter engineers. * NullCore got detected (EAT IT, fuccbois) but sadly lmaobox premium is currently not. I can't confirm this myself, but supposedly the lmao dev has added many of the features that made NC popular with cheaters. Also lmao is like 1/3 the cost. * Valve's comp mode isn't even a bad joke anymore, it's just dead. * Casual sucks more than it doesn't. 60 seconds of waiting for players + having to reload the map after EVERY ROUND means there's often as much downtime as there is actual game play. Round end leads to an exodus so the next one has a 3 vs 8 game. * Speaking of Casual, the fact that at the end of a round of (say) Pipeline, 2Fort or fricken Harvest is a votable map mean picking game mode is a joke. * Sniper is no fun to play against, 10 years and running. * Some how the "nerf" to Crit-a-Cola is actually a buff. The removal of the speed boost means it's easier to game. High skill scouts are absolute wrecking machines with CaC. * This is a minor point, but it irritates me to no end: The application of christmas lights to many new weapons is lazy AF. The Tomislav has a simple spiral around the barrel and grip. They didn't put ANY lights on the ammo drum. Festivizers are $3 on a good day and $5 on a bad one. Fuck's sake, Valve. * Heavy (the tank class) remains a butterball with a bunch of nerf guns. Solo heavy (my preferred way to play, ca. 4 years ago) is never a good idea. Pocketed Heavy is still OP in pubs, but in my experience it rarely happens. Medics prefer to perform medigun proctology on soldier or demos (or *shudder* pyros and even scouts.) Really the only strength Heavy has left is that he doesn't have to reload. * I'm a man in my mid 40s. I'm not sure I'm going to live long enough to see the Heavy update. Based on how the Pyro update, I can only imagine what it will look like anyway. (Huo Long Heater now does 10DPS aftertburn, consumes 5 ammo/sec. Tomislav spins up in .2 seconds, but does 50% damage. Brass Beast deals minicrits against airborne players but takes 5 seconds to spin up.) * We've never going to see another CRATE again are we? Still waiting on a strange Short Circuit (that tracks projectiles destroyed.) Also, I'd really like a strangifier for the Eureka Effect. It's the last Grord weapon to not have one. We could also use a strangifer for the Vita-Saw. Not to mention there's a shit-ton of strange parts that I'd like to see re-released. Broadly, there's two macro issues that plague TF2 more than anything else: * The TF2 team is woefully understaffed, by a factor of 10. For the legion of flaws the other games I've played this year (Paladins, GTAV, Destiny2) one thing is clear to me when I play them: these games were developed by large teams where people had specific jobs and bosses that told them what to do. Valve's "flat" structure (with a round man on top) does not work for a company their size. * The second major issue is Valve's tendency to double and triple down on their bad ideas. No matter how much the community rejects something they stubbornly stay with it. We're never getting anything like QuickPlay back again. Tiered cosmetics are here to stay. We're never going to get new items to craft. Valve's comp mode will never be anything but stillborn. Valve will never support the community competitive scene directly. A friend of mine asked me what I'd do for TF2 if I were super rich. I told him I'd give Jerma and Nathan Vetterlein $10,000 each to do a multi-day streaming event where the two of them played TF2, with and against each other. Neither of them are spectacular at the game, but they're both great entertainers and beloved by the community. I'd arrange for giveaways of various TF2 baubles during the event. I'd get them to cut a YouTube promo for it doing their Scout and Jerma voices. I might even try to get the promo animated in SFM. Jerma as a Blue Scout and Nathan as a Red one, arguing over who was the real Scout. Yeah, cute fantasy I know. Here's the thing. Valve could do this with the coins under the seat cushions in couch of the PYRO LAND room they built in their new office.
I was looking through my old emails and I think I'm responsible for the overwhelming amount of items TF2 has now. Sorry.
What you bring up in that email is actually a good point and a good discussion point - like this video that talks about nerfing/buffing when it comes to fighting games. Buffing or nerfing is a dangerous pole to balance on, and while it's obvious that most classes in TF2 definitely need to be nerfed more than they need to be buffed, it's still interesting to think about where the game would end up if, instead of nerfing Scout, Soldier, and Demo, every other class was buffed to their level.
The Dragon's Fury counter engineers.
meh. only if the sentry isn't covering enough space. (sentries in close spaces get countered by any power class, really.) Wouldn't really consider this as problematic seeing as how the other alternative is making DF do 25 damage to buildings (which would be retarded) good sentry spots cancels pyros, DF or not.
In situations in which the DF counters Engie the Scout might aswell counter him too

New pyro is blatantly overpowered. You turn a corner or stairwell into them and you're dead or at 5 health instantly. And so are the 4 people surrounding you. I think they may limit how many lights are put on the weapons to reduce the complexity of the models. [editline]26th December 2017[/editline]
Well, now that smissmass is over, get ready for another traditional 3 year wait for balance changes! And the also-traditional dice roll of how badly valve, who doesn't play this game completely beefs them!
They play the game, apparently they have a dev who gets hackusations when playing sniper, also jill runs a community server and dario casali made a whole game mode to play. I think they try not to play favorites with regards to balancing the classes they like to play. So they probably don't have any heavy or spy mains on the team for feedback.
Obviously the people who do interact with the game aren't the ones making the balancing decisions. Smissmass completely ignored the high-priority gameplay issues that JI brought, in favor of more unoptimized war paints and cosmetic fluff as the focus for it's content.

I don't understand why so many people are having this problem, I mean sure, it sometimes puts me in an empty server some times, which usually fills up in two minutes.
I never understood the casual complaints. There are valid ones like not being able to spectate but match loading times "3vs12" etc. has never been a problem for me
I'm not a fan of the map ending after 2 rounds. It kinda sucks to have everything be put to a grinding hault when a round is over. I think a decent even ground would be to have a game end at 4 rounds instead of 2. Most people who play casual generally want to stay on the map they're on, so when the game is over I notice a lot of people who leave the server at the end.

That's one of the two things that annoy me with casual, the other is that when you pick to play a certain mode and it joins you into a game that has ended and has voted to go to a map that runs a different mode. Old Valve servers only ran one mode instead of all of them and I wish casual had that. Other than that I like it.

From the mini anxiety attacks you get whenever people are firing near you while you're cloaked, to the insane satisfaction you get from avoiding detection by the skin of your teeth, to the joy of the backstab... And the 4:48 timestamp. Everything about that is so fuckin accurate it hurts.
Since you guys were talking Heavy weapons, I made one a little while ago that I'll just cross-post from Original Weapons. It's basically a shield heavy can deploy like a minigun that has the ability to absorb damage taken from other team mates (within a certain limit, called "Resolve"). It also lets you use your secondary weapon with the shield (something tossed up during the original Heavy update). The Russians' Resolve (Minigun replacement; A Shield) A larger shield able to defend all baby men. Passive: The Shield grants use of any secondary item while holding the Shield. Removes Alt-Function on other items that use it (i.e. Sandvich Toss, or Right Jab). Primary-Fire: Use secondary or melee weapon's ability. Alt-Fire: Similar to the Miniguns, press and hold to raise your Shield. Shield reduces all damage types by 25%, and reduces move speed (think Miniguns). Gain "Resolve" bar. Passively, move speed increases (+5% with no Resolve, up to +30% at max Resolve), and taking damage will reduce Resolve while Shield is in use. While Resolve and Shield are up, 35% damage received by an ally will be redirected back at Heavy to absorb at his Resolve. If Resolve is 0, damage goes directly to the Heavy's health pool. Author's Notes: -Resolve is an effective 450 extra health for allies to use, that does not get placed in the Heavy's health pool. Generally speaking, a non-overhealed Heavy with a shield up can still get killed by a fully charged head shot. -The Shield's resistance to damage does effect how much Resolve is reduced when damaged. This makes it more skill based, reducing damage by timing just right. -Resolve regenerates passively at 24 Resolve HP/sec.

I see a lot of people complaining that Powerhouse takes a long time to finish, sometimes even 3 hours. Casual in TF2 is a really touchy subject, half of the playerbase are fine with it the other half just hates it. Personally, I preffer the current system over the old one. If they added ctf_sawmill back, I'd be a really really happy boy.
