So, how bout that dragon's fury eh?
Overpowered? Underwhelming?
...useful? Anything?
Dragons Fury is ok.
Flames and current Pyro dps is not. The fact that you can take -50 damage after pyro dies is bs.

So you get healed?
If only we could try out the Dragon's fury in comp, it was instantly banned on sight as any new weapons yet with the new global whitelist it remains banned for the seemingly the reason being "its different so ban"

Uhh, no. It's banned because almost every league is playing (on-season) right now, and new weapons that get released while seasons are running are banned just so updates don't compromise the integrity of the competition because it would suck if an OP weapon that gets released in-season gets used and nobody has figured out the weapon(s) yet.

That's literally been the gimmick and sole unique design choice of Pyro since the game was released. Hell, since Team Fortress was started as a mod. DoT particles.
Man, the TF2 Wiki is still slow as hell. What is going on? It's been like that for weeks.
It's too much to expect a multi billion dollar technology company to host web servers that work.

Is the TF2 wiki official? I know it's not a fanwiki like .wiki.com sites, but I always assumed it was just approved by Valve. Does valve actually run it and pay for its servers?

Yes it's hosted by Valve.
You can tell by the domain which is teamfortress.com
A website url is going to be http://anything.domain/anything
So as long as a website is anything.teamfortress.com/anything it's hosted by Valve. The wiki is wiki.teamfortress.com

I know that - I even mentioned that in the post ("as any new weapons")
they however published a testing whitelist where the Dragon's fury, for some reason, wasnt included.

They unbanned The Gas Passer and Thermal Thruster along with a few other weapons like the GRU and Bonk (all of them for testing except the Thermal Thruster), and by the looks of it, they're testing rebalanced weapons a few at a time, so it won't be long until the Dragon's Fury is unbanned for testing, eventually, maybe after the TF2 Team gets to fix the Pyro a little. What they're doing is way, way far from the "its different so ban" reason you were giving.

I'm pretty sure he means that the pyro's flame projectile still linger around even after he dies, and are still capable of doing ludicrous damage.

Perhaps I have worded myself badly then; I find it weird how they put up the Thermal Thruster/Gas Passer for testing yet leave the Dragon's fury out for what seemed like it being "too different".
But as you said, theyll likely test it eventually either way.

Not to discredit what you've said, but after reading through a few of the comments of the same thread, it seems that people do agree on the "banning Dragon's Fury because it's different makes no sense" argument, but it's still a step up from the previous whilelist imo.
60% of the people on that site seems to have an obsession with the words "gay", "aids", "retard(ed)", "meme(y)", etc, any time they leave a comment though, which makes it a bit difficult to read their comments and to take it seriously, but the overall consensus is that, compared to the new mechanics of the flamethrowers, the Dragon's Fury requires at least skill to aim.
I can't tell if they really nerfed pyro's suit or not. If we were pre-JI then I don't think DF combo would work on other pyros, no? it's kind dumb for flareguns now.

For the Dragon's Fury, the initial afterburn it inflicts lasts for a third of its time on Pyros. This means that, yes, you can combo it into a flare. The behaviour using the normal flamethrower seems to be the same, although with the flame particles staying for quite a while, you can do sketchek-style flame-into-flare combos with the stock flamethrower.

Strangely enough, darwin shield acts exactly like old suit now. even DF can't do a second hit on it
I agree I guess (am in favor of removing random crits) but who really gets kills by rollers often? Especially if they take longer to detonate so you can see them for longer and avoid them.

When Tf2 servers still existed, I used to play a lot of ctf_doublecross. As soon as the round began, I'd run out the front gate as demo and unload my whole grenade clip over towards the enemy's gate. Some unfortunate soul almost always charged out and ran right into the rollers.

I haven't tested it yet, but the attribute might work differently than the hardcoded innate afterburn protection the Pyro has, or in other words, probably just an inconsistency between both protections.
Here's a gfycat demonstrating the afterburn and flare combo with the Dragon's Fury, and another one with the regular flamethrower. The Quick-Fix effect just prevents knockback just so the bots don't go flying.

yeah the DF definitely overrides the pyro suit, because one tick of afterburn is taken.
thanks for the tests

I did some testing.
Here's a gfycat showing three snipers, one without afterburn immunity (the attribute), one with afterburn immunity, and one with the afterburn immunity and fire resistance that the Darwin's Danger Shield has.
When it comes to afterburn duration, fire resistance does not seem to matter, which is unsurprising since it should only affect damage in the first place. The Pyro sometimes gets a damage-boosted fireball on an afterburn-immune Sniper if close, but it's more related to TF2's low tickrate than anything, making it seem inconsistent (but it looks like it shouldn't...?). The afterburn immunity attribute works different from the innate afterburn immunity Pyro has, for sure, but it should work like Pyro's more than anything.
tl;dr generally you can't get DF's boosted hits on snipers with the DDS, but very rarely you will if you get close.
It would make more sense to ban all non-DF flamethrowers, imo.
I unboxed a mannrobics unusualifier with the mega strike effect with a war paint case drop earlier today... i was planning on unboxing more some time this week, but that definitely ate up all of my luck
It would make more sense to ban all non-DF flamethrowers, imo.
Yeah pretty much.
DF is the only Pyro primary that only hurts you when it actually hits atm. I thought comp banned bugged weapons?
yeah the DF definitely overrides the pyro suit, because one tick of afterburn is taken.
thanks for the tests
isnt it because how the afterburn is applied based on the ammount of damage dealt? given the DF's particle deals ten times more damage than a single FT particle on hit? i doubt the DF has a hidden attribute about overriding pyro's afterburn inmunity
shotgun or even reserve is better than panic in any situation.
Panic attack is great for finishing people off faster than stock could. Only works in close quarters, though. If you're in a situation where the enemy has like 60 health and you're not really close to them the lower accuracy can be decisive, making the panic attack take two shots to kill instead of the shotgun's one. Point is, it's pretty situational but has its moments.

"its moments" are when your opponents are so close you can tell their eye color.
if you want faster switch with solid firepower you just pick reserve shooter

If you feel lucky still, try doing a MvM tour, might hit that 777.
Just launched the game for the first time in like 2 months and for some reason i got some tradeable Hero Academy hats again. Did anyone else had them dropped again?
