Looks like GNU/Linux users which name themselves "catbot" get VAC banned. So if you guys don't want to risk your account, don't name yourselves as "catbots".
Seems Valve's pretty pissed, eh?
I mean, if someone named themselves catbot and got banned, they could just contact steam support. I'm pretty sure naming yourself catbot is not against the terms of service.

Why would you even want to name yourself catbot, at this point they're only known for being annoying pests that ruin games until they're votekicked
Hey uh.... Which one of you got that sunbeams helm?

yeah i just got one too
So out of pure interest I have done the math needed to find out how much time you'd need to reach max Rank(Tier 8) in TF2.
Let's say the average amount of XP you get for each game is 300 and the average amount of time each of these games take are 15 minutes - Reaching Level 150 requires you to have 455500 XP, which means you need 3644000 XP for Level 150, Tier 8. Divide that through 300 and you get roughly 12146 games needed, which is roughly 3036 hours spent playing TF2 Casual non-stop.
So realistically, let's say you play TF2 Casual 3 hours a day - then reaching max Rank would require you about 3 years of playing, of course this doesnt include down-time like searching for games, going AFK, sorting your Backpack and the like.
Now taking into account the bonus XP people have received before which is now being used as Bonus XP doubling your XP input, the earliest we should expect a Tier 8 player to pop up is in about 1-2 years.

Maybe you two should engage in jolly co-operation.
I guess I should unbox more seeing how everyone is getting unusuals

this is how they get you
this is how they get you
Eh, I have 30 keys spare from a trade I did earlier. And there isn't many unusuals I'd want at that range. Fuck it. :v:

Sell them on the market, get $60, buy a load of games. Don't throw it all into the fires of RNG.

I'd suggest doing this, because I made a mistake of not quitting earlier. On my first ever exchange on my new account, I spent $5 for two keys, and got an $80 unusual taunt (high-five), sold it immediately. Bought keys for war paints/seasonal cosmetics, got a few rare items that I sold for ($70, $23, $25, $7, $5), went on a rampaging gambling spree, lost $100 in real currency from gambling with keys. Please understand the value of the dollar--Losing $100 from your bank sucks, and it hurts you more than you think. Now I have like a $400 unusual on my hands but still, real currency for fun-bucks sucks.
Though if I may suggest on what you should get, the Valve Collection is only 16 bucks, get that if you haven't already.
Got 3 refined, crafted them together, got a Level Three Chin. Crafted that with another cosmetic and got a K-9 Mane.
Since I had some tags, I was inclined to do the proper thing.

Ready yourself for battle.
The thing about unboxing screenshots is people don't post their abject failures. I had 10 crate 85s (has strangifiers for the Air Strike and Widowmaker). I opened all 10. Got exactly one AS strangifier and nothing else worth more than 50 cents. Unboxing is a sham.

mainly the problem with that is i dont like admitting that I've un-boxed about 60$ worth of crates and i got like 18 pairs of the same pants. Its like Christmas with my family.
I think unboxing every now and then is fine and I like unboxing because its quite fun - set yourself a limit and only use money you'd be ok with possibly losing - quit once you get something nice/you hit your limit, dont push your luck. Every Major Update I like to set 50€ aside from my paycheck for TF2 stuff and go ham for a bit, sometimes you make the money back, sometimes you get 23 pairs of pants.
The moment you start using money you'd normally need/you go over your limit is when you are making a grave mistake.
The big difference between TF2 unboxing and Overwatch unboxing is that in TF2 there is a fair chance for you to get your money back while in Overwatch, they money is staying there - which is why I dislike unboxing in Overwatch.

Not to mention a sham when it comes to mental health reasons. You might think it's all fun and games, but gambling can make people very sick.
So like the post above--Be tame, set a limit.

I started liking unboxing since they implemented cases, tiers and bonus items for unboxing. Getting a pink/red tier item from a case is really satisfying.
Back in the crate days all I wanted was to unbox an unusual because everything else was worthless.
i'm willing to rename my thermal thruster "no_clip"
I unboxed this dude within my first 5 Christmas cases.

Im convinced that my luck increases during Christmas. Last year, I unboxed a strange Snowwing and Head Prize within my first 5 Smissmas cases.
I have not unboxed anything since EoTL and all your clearly duped unusuals will not convince me to do so otherwise, villains.
Happy new Year everyone, may this year finally be the bearer of comp.

Now to settle in for the long painful wait for the Heavy Update.
What 'Heavy' pun you guys think the update will be called?
I'm going with "The Heavy Burden Update"

well, since the 2008 heavy update was simply called "a heavy update," my money is on something like "a heavier update."

A Weapons Guy Update
It's fun seeing everyone unboxing unusuals and shit from almost 1st crates.
I've quite unboxing 2 weeks ago since I unboxed 30 crates and didn't even get a pink item.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on my absurd Medi Gun concept:
This medi gun fires in a laser pattern.
Pros: ÜberCharge percentage can be used to fire at enemies.
Cons: Doesn't lock onto patients.
It may just be too drastic for TF2; but if TF3 were a thing, a stock version of this without its downside would serve to reward healing, and make Medic's role less passive.
