I unboxed one of those lowest tier hats, so unbox if you are willing to gamble. Oh, and the hat was one of those winter-themed hats... It's summer here and the heat doesn't let me sleep. It was one horrible slap to my face.
I think I got enough TF stuff for now.

No surgeon simulator either
No surgeon simulator either
that's not a tf2 game at all, just has references to it but i do have it also to the people who are like 'haha what about these obscure fan games' here you go
doesn't even have the minecraft version smh
Speaking of fan games if I knew how to create games I would totally make a TF2 tower defense game. Make the maps modified versions of payload, attack/defense and MVM maps. Make the enemy army MVM bots. Make the enemy have the ability to kill your units and force you to wait for a respawn so classes like Medics (healing) and engineers (teleporters give faster respawn and dispensers to heal) have more use. Make upgrades for your units based on different weapons. For example for heavy you could choose to upgrade your minigun to the Brass Beast which does more damage but has less range (since it slows down Heavy while deployed in game) or Natasha which does less damage but slowdown to enemies. For secondaries you could choose between a shotgun which allows heavy to do more close range damage or sandvich which allows heavy to occasionally fully self heal. Of course I don't have any experience in game development so unless someone steals my idea it will never happen.
No surgeon simulator either
We can go deeper. What about rpgmaker with a TF2 pack? http://store.steampowered.com/app/480560/RPG_Maker_MV__Team_Fortress_2_Character_Pack/
According to the steam database twitter the Catbot cheat now give the catbots random names instead of catbot so the VAC team banning anyone on Linux with the Steam name catbot did absolutely nothing.

What the fuck are these "just disable vac tf" bots?
wait vac is seriously banning people for having a certain username?? that's pretty fucked up
What the fuck are these "just disable vac tf" bots?
They are the old catbots, now renamed.
wait vac is seriously banning people for having a certain username?? that's pretty fucked up
Seems like a quick band-aid fix, as far as I know the folks are coming back on the 2nd on which we will hopefully start to see something happen.
All this does is boost nullifiedcat's ego and reinforce his claim of his cheat being undetectable. If Valve really wanted to combat cheaters in a meaningful way, they'd make reports actually do something in-game, or add captchas on their Steam account registration page to combat macros meant to create accounts right as they get banned. Also, in classic "shoot the messenger" fashion, the catbots are now named "cat kisak" by default and the commit has a comment tagging kisak-valve in their Github, but now the names are randomly generated. So, uh, this was merely a setback from them. I really hope the VAC Team is actually trying to detect it, because this direction really goes far beyond the "VAC only bans cheaters, 99% of the time" they try to put. I'm impressed there weren't any false positives because of users having system usernames like "scatbotter" or something.

I dont know what catbots/nullifiedcat are. I only play this game on and off every few months
I dont know what catbots/nullifiedcat are. I only play this game on and off every few months
Very very tl;dr: catbots are sniper bots with aimbot and spinbot capabilities, which also spam the chat mocking the players and saying how good they are. Their author is nullifiedcat.
TF2 dropped from the gold to the silver tier this year in top revenue earners on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/sale/2017_best_sellers/
Theory, if Heavy won the war, he would have gotten a birthday cake slice food item with a 10 on it.

People are getting fed up, and this update only had...less than three months to make money, as opposed to most major updates' full half-year.

I'd have expected a new Campaign alongside the Case rework and War Paint rework to net Valve more money but I think part of the reason why it didnt manage Gold was because they skipped Halloween Cases + the reasons the others have said. Maybe that "double unusual" rate thing from back then really did do wonders for that year.

Redditors were screaming and howling like madmen about it, but their reaction wasn't actually reflected in any of the available statistics. It actually took until 2017 for the real diminishing playercounts to start, especially once Summer came and went with no fanfare. Jungle Inferno has pretty much restored us to our high 60s/low 70s (in thousands) average playercount, at least for the time being. I'm not sure how long it will keep us there, though.
I mean did they seriously expect the cheat's creators, the people who are fooling their complex anti-cheat system for a while now, to not go around a simple filter for the name catbot? It's like if the police started a manhunt for anyone who wears a tshirt saying: "I kidnap and sell people".
Well, reports do do things since MyM.
Yes, but they're very clearly revised manually. This wouldn't be a bad thing if it didn't take +2 months for them to get through the list of the most reported people and slap a Casual ban that practically does nothing, since at that point the cheaters got their fill, and can transfer their items onto another alt. account. I don't know, DotA2 has a pretty good reporting system, maybe that can be ported into TF2 since their team wants to make it matchmaking-driven, with competitive and all.
I swear I remember seeing a screenshot/statement that Valve added captchas on the registration page.
Yes, I just checked and it's true, there's now a captcha on their registration page, my bad. It didn't use to be a thing so that's a small step-up at least, but cheaters are still prominent. Community servers will still be leagues above Valve servers until cheaters can be dealed with swiftly, though. Even votekicking is a joke and cheaters can use them against legitimate people.
