Around the 2 minute mark Freeman attacks the protagonist. (Who is so boring I forgot his name! Was it Mitchel?)
Why is he wearing his helmet? Freeman never wore his helmet! (Well. debatable. I always assumed he didn't wear one but put it on as he jumped into the portal to xen. Maybe it retracts into his suit?)
Freeman beats the living shit out of him, dragging him away after shooting him, bludgeoning him in the face with a crowbar, and stomping on him. In my headcanon a decent amount of HECU didn't even die but were merely incapacitated, considering Freeman was acting in self defense the entire time. (I.E. shot in the chest, incapacitation due to blood loss, etc.)
It just seems so out of place for a scientist looking for a way out to go out of his way to mutilate a HECU soldier.

In one cutscene that guy in Nevada is a Lieutenant and then in the next he's referred to as a Sergeant. This game sure is big on consistency :v:

Yes Gordon wears a helmet. That is how he sees a HUD, and can survive on alien planets and in heavy radiation. His helmet is just off for promotional material and his multiplayer model.

I don't know about Anything4Views but it's quite clear (to me at least) that their main character is heavily inspired by the Metal Gear franchise.

Retractable rebreather thing in the neckpiece.
Some kind of system which separates oxygen from the water, which explains why Gordon runs out of oxygen faster if he uses his flashlight, and why you regen health underwater until your O2 runs out.
The "oxygen" gauge is just a meter for the rebreathing system. Once power runs out, Gordon has to hold his breath.
I always just took it as just a game thing to show how long Gordon can hold his breath, and you get your lost health back cuz you're getting a breather basically
