The machines in the Black Mesa like map are reused from GoldenEye:Source. Though, the Klobb model is not. And it's unknown if these were bought, or not.
I've also been making a blog to document reused assets quickly. All the posts have been sourced so they can also be found. It can be found here. Feel free to submit stuff you've found.
I don't get why you're marking assets that were bought, that's the entire reason they exist.
I don't get why you're marking assets that were bought, that's the entire reason they exist.
Mostly for documentation reasons. If someone was wondering if the game uses bought assets, they can know, now that they've been marked.

Because it's interesting to point out that the best things about the mod are the things that weren't even original or self-crafted

The MP5 looks like the CW MP5 SD
I changed the sights to the one that resembles the one used in the game. The author of this CW swep has also posted a Skorpion, which I'll be looking at.

but...
Why? Like the vast majority of games these days use bought assets, even AAA studios. It's not lazy to do so, it's just smart.
Also the Skorpion isn't the same mesh.
As shit as the game may be, I think at this point the whole search for stolen content is ridiculous. Pretty much most of the reports of the so called model thefts have been false positives (though I am not sure about the maps).
I wonder how much money they made. ironic purchases are still purchases.
It's the project management's fault for not paying them, not theirs for fairly believing they'd be compensated.
that's exactly my point.

This seals the deal.

I thought most of the weapon models in the game were already confirmed by people to have been taken from numerous games.
I thought most of the weapon models in the game were already confirmed by people to have been taken from numerous games.
It's a "sort of" thing.
They are very clearly based off of a lot of weapons (namely from Killing Floor 2 and Firearms: Source) but they've at least modified the mesh heavily enough that they don't directly compare, so no matter how close they are to the weapons of said games, they're not.
Now I still 100% feel like they still are from said games but they are distinct enough that they can legally get away with that, like how Chinese bootlegers do.
I thought most of the weapon models in the game were already confirmed by people to have been taken from numerous games.
Initially people thought they were then it turned out it wasn't.
I think there's one or two weapons, unconfirmed at the moment and based purely on hearsay. I think the case of the vehicle from STALKER was Valve's fault for allowing it in the Cold Stream campaign.
(though I am not sure about the maps).
cant remember what the name of the map was, but there was claims that a zombie panic source dev spoke in VNN's chat while he was playing and said "this map is stolen from zombie panic source" and even mentioned the map name. i went and looked up that map name on the wiki and in youtube videos and the maps looked nothing alike.
i might just be out of the loop on this particular thing but its just fucking confusing
The lead programmer for ZPS confirmed it wasn't a stolen ZPS map.
This whole stolen weapon models situation seems like one big confusing mess tbh
This game's single way to get attention is as an HL2 fanfiction. They're trying to sell it to people who played half life 2.
Wether or not the maps and assets were stolen or legal asset flipping, It's absolutely fair when you're paying for a new game to expect most of the content to be actually made for that game, and not repackaged assets made for another game that you already bought and played.
When entire levels of this game are gmod maps never designed to be in a single player game, it's just absolute lazyness that fails as a product.
This is different from lets say recycling of 2d assets in the Metal Slug series, because they're assets made in house by the series artists and owned by the studio, carrying the metal slug brand, not models and maps taken from all over the internet.
Ignoring all the broken levels, soft locks, technical issues etc, when your product is so poorly put together that have to defend its legality because people can't tell its content apart from content they already bought and played in other games, you're not selling something worth money.
I bought valve games and played them [del]too much[/del]. I don't care that it's legal for this guy to take assets from theses games and sell it back again to me, It still will looks like a legal scam to me.
It says it all when VNN played the train level on stream and went "Wait, I already played this". He paid to play a map he already had played in gmod and could go and play in gmod right now. The legality of it is irrelevant because at this point, it's just not a new game.
The claymore minefield section looks horribly frustrating and like very bad game design.
I think those types of setpieces are not fun. I disliked the infamous "tripwire maze" in Surface Tension because it's a pain to figure out exactly what your collision box is. (I also bring up this one section in either Hl1, or OP4 where you fall through a duct, and land in a room full of tripwires. Can someone fill me in on which game this was? Might have even been HL2)
Black Mesa made it arguably worse because I think there was both alternative routes, and the fact that your collision box was weirder. Lasers you could merely jump in HL1 now require a crouch jump in Black Mesa.
Minefields also made an appearance in HL1 and Black Mesa. While there was a sign (IDK if every time) warning you about the minefields, the mines themselves were completely invisible, and while you could shoot them to set them off, the trigger zone for bullets was extremely small. You had to use the shotgun or explosives, and even then I'd be sure I cleared it all out, only to get gibbed by a mine I somehow missed.
Black Mesa was arguably more merciful as while the amount of mines was turned up, they were at least visible.
HDTF combines the mines and the nuclear building with the fact setting one off results in a game over from a chain reaction. You can't blow them up without dying.
Watching, I was also confused because there's a bunch of computers with wires connected to the claymores. This gives a false impression you have to shoot the computers to deactivate the claymores. (Like the SEMTEX bombs in MGS2) This isn't the case. You just have to sneak past them and push E on the computer that is on to deactivate the minefield for your friend. So why are the other computers there if they don't do jack shit?
Also "Don't use your weapons, there's a gas leak." meanwhile your ally has a shotgun even though in the cutscene he had a crowbar.
HL1 and OP4 both had tripwire mazes, OP4s was a in a big cargo storage yard with snipers iirc

The one I'm thinking of, you're in a vent, and the duct falls down, and you crawl out of the duct and are surrounded by tripmines.

Isn't that from Ep1?

99% sure there is a scene like that in Black Mesa in the first third of the game. Probably in HL as well.
As fun it is to criticize Frank and friends, we should not forget that this is 100% Valve's fault. They confirmed yet again that they couldn't care less about the quality and brand image by giving out their Half-Life license to anyone who asks, apparently. The Earth will always have a fair share of opportunists, but Valve had the say here and they green-lit it. I'm too, still, in partial denial of this, just as, I'm sure, many of us are.
Did Valve actually give a license or did Frank not know or care about needing it?
I will be shocked if it turns out valve said "yeah feel free to basically resell 15% of one of our most popular IPs" to this game, I'm sure there's many developers who would kill for the Half-Life licence
They may as well license the franchise out to Gearbox again to make Episode 3 at that point.

The people that made the Gearbox games great are no longer with the company, and Randy Pitchford is a snake. I would rather no one goes to him to license their game.
