Where'd all the old Valve and Gearbox guys go off to then? Surely there must be some game dev capable of making a good Half-Life game?
I'd argue the people who did shadow warrior have a good grasp on singleplayer FPS games.
The minigun's viewmodel is named v_kitchen_knife and the entity for it is also named weapon_kitchen_knife
can I just... why?

Makes sense, it has unlimited ammo.
I am going to take a wild guess and say that holstering would actually techincally bring out (and/or give if you don't already have it) a "weapon" that allows you to do all of this weird shit
Also holy shit I was right on this
When we where looking at all of the entities inside of the mod and there is a fuck ton of unused weapons, and look at what's in that list!
weapon_parkour
I just, laughed so god damn hard when I discovered this, it's just... Fucking hell, man, this mod.

Arkane Studios?
Can we confirm if the claymore mines are literally just SLAM's without the laser?
Arkane Studios?
If you're talking about Viktor Antonov, he hasn't worked at Arkane for years. 2 years ago he worked at Darewise entertainement on Rokh, a steam survival game on Mars still in early access. On instagram he shared that he art directed the Cobra The space pirate anime live action adaptation, which seems still in production.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/462440/ROKH/
And Moby Francke is still art director on League of Legend afaik.
A ton of core valve employee left because that's what was best for the their career tbh.
Arkane Studios?
Yeah, that would be a good candidate.
I got into the Dishonored franchise recently, without knowing who had worked on it or what it was inspired from, what a blast!
That stuff reeks of Half Life 2, visually, and level design is amazing.
I wish Antonov was still working for Valve.
Got ya covered

Hey, at least he did all of that by himself, and some parts of the maps looks decent.
Even his own gravgun model is interesting by being different: https://gamebanana.com/skins/159436
We should license Half-Life to Koei.
Don't tell me you wouldn't play Black Mesa Warriors.
Arkane Studios?
http://combineoverwiki.net/wiki/Return_to_Ravenholm
Arkane was going to work on a HL2 episode, actually. It was about Ravenholm and Father Grigori was going to be a character with an important role. (Protagonist maybe?)
Even if Arkane's "Return to Ravenholm" was a great loss, nothing compares to that "Episode 4" supposed to be designed by Warren Spector, with that Magnet Gun, etc... Imagine, the prodigual son of GabeN and the DEUS EX's creator... -_-
Again, this is another episode of what the f*** are you doing, VALVe, WHY do you cancel 2 great games (Arkane's and Spector's) and allow one "meh" game (Prospekt) and one total piece of s*** (HDTF) related to HL, to be released and to be sold??
U're tearing me apart, VALVe!
In fact, not really, the final nail in the HL's coffin was put last summer with Epistle 3's script released by Laidlaw, now they are just shitting and pissing on the grave (Artifact, HDTF... ).
I won't say they don't have an audience, STEAM has completly crushed the market, DOTA2 and CS GO are the number one games every day by number of players, but the "core" fans, we've been left in the mud since Portal 2/2011...
A small segment remade in UE4 based around HL2 (Like Arkane's Ravenholm) would be a really interesting project IMO.
99% sure there is a scene like that in Black Mesa in the first third of the game. Probably in HL as well.
7 Hour Warriors
You play as combine soldier Lu Bu and find out the REAL reason the war ended that quickly.

I just hope Belkan isn't holding them hostage, and thus preventing the team from making something decent.
There's something that's been bothering me ever since I played this disfunctional piece of software. On the train chapter, a portal opens and a soldier with a minigun-like weapon gets farted into the top of the train.
Has that shit been explained yet? It bothers my fucking mind, it makes zero sense and it's just dumb on every sense of the word. And don't even get me started on the fact that a human uses that gun with barely any recoil, that it has unlimited ammo or that while you're using it, your health regenerates.
Whoever wrote that was smoking weed up his ass.
Hold it there, people! I just came to understand to the startling conclusion about the meaning of HDTF!
When the game ends, Mitchell ends up on a tram with a gaggle of Gordon Freemanses, exactly seven, to be exact: three on the left, four on the right.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/fSPzXL4.jpg[/t]
So, of course, there's one Gordon missing on the left, leaving that empty seat there.
And where does Mitchell sit down?
[t]https://i.imgur.com/9PpiLAc.jpg[/t]
That's right, he sits down in missing Gordon's seat!
I can only draw one clear and obvious conclusion from this event: Mitchell is Gordon Freeman from the future.
So you were never hunting down the Freeman. You had always been hunting yourself.
Belkan is innocent. How dare you accuse him of such things after he pushed release of the game?
I hope community doesn't break into his house after all the harassment.
At least Belkan isn't Ajit Pai then, or he and Verizon would be a huge pile of dick. [SP]Both are generally despicable, and they have also made a bunch of brains melt. Luckily we haven't become vegetables… yet.[/SP]

The freeman was you
Then again considering the writting of this game it could actualy be the case
So I only watched compilation of cutscenes on youtube and I have a question - what's the deal with 7 Freemans?
[t]https://i.imgur.com/fSPzXL4.jpg[/t]
Directed By
David Lynch

No doubt it's a retelling of the seventh son of a seventh son myth, thus explaining why Gordon in Half-Life 2 is considered such a messianic figure and can revive himself from death. All along when people were ragging on this dude's mod it turns out they were just missing the obvious!
So I only watched compilation of cutscenes on youtube and I have a question - what's the deal with 7 Freemans?
pretty sure that's a cutscene that only shows up when you die, along with the adrian one
correct me if im wrong though
So I only watched compilation of cutscenes on youtube and I have a question - what's the deal with 7 Freemans?
Four Freemans on the right are the main series, HL1, HL2, Ep1, Ep2
Freemans on the left are fan works starring Freeman; most notably Black Mesa and two more I'm not so sure of.
Mitchell sitting along the "expansion" Freemans symbolizes Frank writing himself into the Half-Life history.

He won't be killed, but his little sister will be tortured until he manages to refund everyone and/or release a better version of that turd.

The hell are you on about, kidnapping? I though this was a harmless shit-posting session about how God-fuckingly terrible the game was. Come on dude, chill out. If anything, just take a dump on the Steam discussion forum of the game, won't take long to get banned seeing as I was banned for asking "Is the game actually that bad?" and saying "I just wanna know beforehand for a review of it".
Finally got around to watching the cutscene compilation. That final confrontation between Mitchell and Adam is hilarious.
One thing that caught my eye is how much of the cutscenes rely on standing around talking to each other with close-ups of faces. I wish scenes were constructed with more character movement.
