G-Man's voice actor sounds like the guy that goes "Viewer beware, you're in for a scare!" in Goosebumps.
You think you're so cool beating people up with your stick
Gas mask
To be honest I kinda like it in fiction where the protagonist is basically just a red shirt fodder, besides aren't Shepard and Barney kinda tied on the whole level of "I survived insane shit".
"If i survive all this shit I'm going to make my own game i swear"
Oh my god this is like something I would fantasise about making when I was a little kid daydreaming in class, imagining making my own levels in my favourite games with dumb/edgy plot, overuse of any mechanic I happened to like, and a near lethal dose of cringe. I always imagined that other people did the same thing as kids but now I'm just wondering how the actual fuck did one actually get this far? Don't most projects like this fall apart the moment they realise that text-to-speech wont cut it and they might actually need to find a real life girl to voice the shoehorned love interest they wrote in just to fall for their self insert edgelord protagonist?
Heads up to anyone interested in either playing or watching someone play HDTF, it got delayed yet again, this time to the 21st, though the creator says it might come out before then. Game's still 50Gb, after some trimming, and will offer an additional 5% off on release day. I don't know if this thread will get moved, but if it lives another few weeks, I plan on playing through this thing, so others don't have to :v:
I plan on playing through this thing, so others don't have to :v:
God fucking speed.
Supposedly the delay is because "Valve is playtesting the game"
Yeah right. The lead guy is just delaying it constantly because that way it's even more like a Half-Life game.
Maybe the mod is a prank I mean the trailer didn't have all that much gameplay.

Ugh god that thumbnail says enough.
OH SNAP!
I swear to god, that thumbnail looks like some goofy Gmod machinima.
All the maps look so open and barren. Also, what was with that "cutscene" at the end and the needless slow-mo, lol.
I swear to god, that thumbnail looks like some goofy Gmod machinima.
I thought [or hoped] it was another episode of Gorgeous Freeman.

I could swear I've still seen some assets elsewhere before. Also big fucking thumbs up to making pointlessly large maps and having those bizarre aliens use combine soldier AI instead of something unique.
OH SNAP!
Some reason it keeps reminding me of this guy from Super Punch Out.
Why can't more mods take a queue from Half Life 2 and have the story told as it unfolds, like ENTROPY:ZERO or Transmission: Element 120? The story for those two respectively is: You are an MPF officer, and the train you're on derails. Have fun. You are someone, anyone, with an HEV suit, and find an experimental concussive device. Have fun. It's that simple. You could even keep the stupid DEMZ GOOD MEME-ORIES mechanic if you really want to keep fellating your OC and how he rescued 10 twelve year olds from the evil mean stick-wielding suited men. E: Just saw the trailer video. It actually looks semi-okay, but if the demo video posted before is anything to go by it's going to be horrible story wise. Maybe the parkour/ledge-grab mechanics could be ported over to other mods and put to use there at least.

They somehow made the sprinting headbob worse than Wolfenstein.
Movement reminds me of Mirror's Edge with all the moving and rolling. Bolt action sound not synced with animation on the sniper rifle. I DO like how putting on night vision goggles looks. Although it should just be flipping them down rather than taking them off and on.

Wow, I can see they're already pushing the boundaries of storytelling before the game's even out yet. I bet this is foreshadowing for a scene where unhealthily-curious alien forces Mitchell to confront his past via flashback and he's shown trying to save himself
Why can't more mods take a queue from Half Life 2 and have the story told as it unfolds, like ENTROPY:ZERO or Transmission: Element 120?
It's simple: Too much work.
Why can't more mods take a queue from Half Life 2 and have the story told as it unfolds, like ENTROPY:ZERO
Entropy : Zero doesn't tell its story in a particularly Half-Life-like fashion since the player is a wise-crackin' CP who continually delivers one liners to point out his current situation.
Some of it doesn't look terrible considering, i like some of the animations and the environments look okay. It seems like a project that could have been pretty good if it had some proper direction and didn't have such a dogshit story idea/setup. Also those combine forces that (I think) were supposed to be combine guard look awful, and that music is eughh

Oops he fell down at the end, clumsy main character
You guys should go through the discussions about this game on Steam. There's some fun stuff like this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/723390/discussions/0/3377008022020037263/ Apparently they bought the map off the OP of that thread for $5. He was told it was going to be a free mod. Now he's mad and wants his assets removed.

I love the idea of some poor employee at Valve being forced to test this game. We have occasionally been in contact with Valve, and since its finished, they have to play and review the game themselves. Right after they finish the game, we will be releasing it. We are setting a new release date for HDTF, but it also might came out before that date!
"Valve is testing it" excuse is seeming more like "creators saw their work uncredited/used incorrectly and now we have to delete a bunch of content"
