I know for a fact I'm reading into this too much, but if the guy on the table is maintaining someone else's sentry, that's smart cause spies that try sneaky peaky shit that try to make an engineer get killed by his own sentry will fail more often if the engy's own sentry is far away as teammates's sentries won't FF the engineer.

I've been perfecting the number I use in the wait command, because sometimes the server doesn't register my chat message before I disconnect.

If the server doesn't register it, it's likely because the server doesn't allow the wait command.

I know they sometimes disable wait to prevent exploits and the like, but what exactly did people use it for that they do that?

tf_allow_wait_command (or whatever the cvar is, I think that's right) defaults to 0, and was added ages back after the pistol exploit (where the pistol fired much faster if you clicked rapidly, so people used scripts to shoot as fast as possible), and in the same update the pistol was made so that the holding-mouse-button speed was also it's maximum.
