Soldier may not be as lucky with his primary source of damage being removed, but with some decent aiming you can still give some support fire by using your shotgun and being with your team mates so you do not get mauled in 1 on 1 fights. There is also the pain train that both classes can use and become even better in capturing the control points and pushing the payload with a slight increase in damage from only one damage type. There is a couple from the top of my head.
