Some guy thought I was cheating today, and one of the things he accused me of doing was using a script to jump and crouch at the same time because hitting a crouch jump every time isn't possible without a script according to him. Is this... a thing?
According to my friend who's using many weird scripts it actually is a thing. I can't get the point of it though.
Is your steam name 'Riut'? I swear I played against you and your stupidly good direct hit aim on pl_upward yesterday if so.
Yes it is, hi.
I hate it when someone asks you to update an item to be multi-class, and when you tell them no, they act all high and mighty and talk to you like you're an idiot: [t]http://puu.sh/nVUII.png[/t] Sorry, but i'm not gonna be a money whore and make my item multi-class just because you want me to do it.
OK, now he's just being snarky... This should make things make a bit more sense:
Yes it is, hi.
:D My team thought you were cheating at first. I posted about you on here actually.

What a cunt that guy is. [sp]Catcunt[/sp] Would blocking the dude make him unable to comment on my items? I really want to block the guy.
Would blocking the dude make him unable to comment on my items? I really want to block the guy.
He's bound to take you blocking him as a sign of him 'winning' the argument. I would probably continue arguing with him until he either realizes how stupid he is or gives up arguing after he realizes he's been backed into, but that might not be the most moral road. What an asshole, though.
The only winning move is to just ignore him. Idiots can't have their mind changed.

[sp]Catcunt[/sp] Would blocking the dude make him unable to comment on my items? I really want to block the guy.
Checked his profile, he's apparently an UGC plat pyro main. Idk why but I'd expect a little more maturity from high level comp players. I'm dumb, I know. Maybe he's having a really shitty day?
What a cunt that guy is. [sp]Catcunt[/sp]
That's literally the "joke" in his name, though. Switch the C and the F around. A real class act, that guy.
Checked his profile, he's apparently an UGC plat pyro main. Idk why but I'd expect a little more maturity from high level comp players. I'm dumb, I know. Maybe he's having a really shitty day?
Turns out being good at playing a given video game doesn't necessarily translate into being a pleasant person. Honestly, in most of my experiences, I find that severe competition tends to attract more unpleasant people than in more casual settings. Not a hard and fast rule, of course, but I do think that the very nature of competition tends to bring out certain behaviors and ways of thinking which, if not properly kept in check, can result in a bunch of senseless drama.
Checked his profile, he's apparently an UGC plat pyro main. Idk why but I'd expect a little more maturity from high level comp players.
In my experience the better someone is at a video game the higher the chance they are a massive dickwad with an insanely inflated ego.
Honestly most high level players are probably perfectly decent people, it just takes a small percentage of dickwads to leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Honestly most high level players are probably perfectly decent people, it just takes a small percentage of dickwads to leave a bad taste in your mouth.
I just said the percentage gets higher, never said all of them were, but out of the comp players I meet the more toxic ones tend to be higher up.
I just said the percentage gets higher, never said all of them were, but out of the comp players I meet the more toxic ones tend to be higher up.
I find the inverse to be true. Competitive players who are adequate enough to qualify but aren't good enough to be taken seriously by their betters. Unchecked egos as a result of staying in a comfortable position and creating a feedback loop for their ego to build up without anyone really putting them in their place. It's like a hotshot highschool athlete who gets his shit kicked in when he gets to college ball. It doesn't help that most of these competitors never see one another in person outside of tournament settings, so it's very easy for them to distance themselves from realizing that they're being a dick to actual people.

Most of the toxic players I've encountered are steel level, with an occasional high level player though most of them never had anything better than a participant badge.
god damn why are so many comp pyros such miserable shits
cos they're on fire
Cause they think they're- Hot shit.
Remember that update "Consecutive Airblasts will no longer prevent enemies from air-strafing until they touch the ground". what the hell is this? It's literally nothing. It did not change anything whatsoever. Complete placebo.

Complete placebo.
Small edits of airblast won't change shit, they need to make a massive overhaul of the entire mechanic, possibly starting with it NOT HALTING PRE-EXISTENT MOMENTUM OF THE AIRBLASTED PLAYER!

Pyro's changes in the Toughbreak update were pretty negligible now that they've had time to sit.
Was a demoknight with an axe yesterday and he just hit me through my airblast every time. Seemingly out of range and after I airblasted him, he just kept hitting me. Tbh, I hate demoknights. Their range and damage resistance is infuriating.
Tbh, I hate demoknights. Just wait for them to charge into your face, then give them a barrage of Minigun fire for their trouble.

Just wait for them to charge into your face, then give them a barrage of Minigun fire for their trouble.
For sure mate but I never play heavy. I guess it just grinds my gears that when I'm pyro, they shouldn't be able to get near me but somehow they can. Well, it might just be if they have the axe (or this one guy who had it on that one server even). When I'm scout they run past me or are facing another direction and still seem to hit me, but I don't really have too big a problem with them generally. It's just the feeling off being robbed by a dodgy hit detection when they do get me. If a soldier kills me it usually feels legit and I don't mind.
Say that to my face again. [t]http://puu.sh/nX1bI/06f2a59263.png[/t]
Ok. Pyro's changes in the Toughbreak update were pretty negligible now that they've had time to sit. The phlog was never even op, not even the post tough break version. People are just idiots. And its because of that stupidity, the phlog is just not viable now. Nerfed to the point of uselessness thanks to braindead pub players. Ignoring the fact you could just run away from a phlog pyro, which is perfectly viable. A lot of classes can capitalize on either superior movment or the fact that pyro stays perfectly still during the taunt. Scout: Backpedal and shoot them, Pistol has superior range so use that. Soldier: Just shoot rockets at him, jump away from him if needed. Demo: Sticky trap their feet while they taunt. Heavy: Its pretty obvious what to do. Sniper: Enjoy your free headshot Spy: Cloak and run away or get behind them and position for a stab. The only classes that really would struggle with the phlog are Engineer, Medic and other pyros. Medic usually has protection, Engineer typically stays with his buildings. That just leaves other Pyros, In which you could really just run away, or back pedal while shooting them with the shotgun or scorch shot which would actaully slow their advance.
I do agree to an extent, but you're assuming that you see the pyro coming. On payload maps they often flank and because your team has no comms (and sucks), the first you know about it is when some crit/uber pyro is charging round the corner a yard in front of you as you push the cart, ready to give you a flame tickle.
Remember that update "Consecutive Airblasts will no longer prevent enemies from air-strafing until they touch the ground". what the hell is this? It's literally nothing. At a times, when Pyro airblasted me, I wouldn't be pushed away from him, I would literally just be pushed a bit upwards and that was it. So they made it essentially just a lot more annoying than before because now you don't have ANY speed to work with which means you are the easiest target to hit on the entire battlefield. Well fucking done, Valve :goodjob:
