And the catalog is still broken
It just occured to me that i can't enjoy mapping scenery because i have to turn around every 2.5 second for the wait-5-minute-in-a-corner man and also watch for mister instant 150-450 damage ever stopped a second to take a real look at the doublecross bridge? it's great. but that's a luxury.
You can always just click the create a server button and load up a map you'd like to walk around in and admire. I've done that myself a few times, quite fun in a relaxing sort of way.
People who mistakenly think you did something wrong, when it was someone else and start a votekick on you, and other non-thinker players in the server vote 'yes' because just because. Cool, I love being banned from a good server for nothing.
I really wish Valve would rework how inventory sorting works. The fact that you can't select multiple items to move at once makes sorting items really tedious

The trick stab spies are getting really bad
The trick stab spies are getting really bad
As if that was even possible.
Honestly if people want to blame anyone for killing community servers they can blame these fucks, since they were a good part of the reason Valve fucked with quickplay.
I know I'm annoying with my persistent lamentations about community servers dying off, but QP actually brought a huge increase in the amount of shitty 'community' pubs without actual communities, especially the ones that spoofed playercounts via fake bot players, had zero admins, stupid plugins, or even abused ads and more malicious exploits. Before QP happened, established server communities from the early days of TF2 worth a damn mostly ran only one or a couple of servers each, and could only get regulars through word of mouth, or getting discovered randomly and Favorited by people trying out new servers through the normal browser. There was no automated process of dumping players into servers. But Quickplay and the Uber update brought a huge influx of new players, and introduced an automated way of placing players into servers, especially the newer ones. They also introduced the so-called server-ranking system through awarding higher points and QP priority to servers that saw a lot of traffic. The number of new 'community' servers skyrocketed in the first year or so past the Uber update, and many of those were these generic, soulless chains of 10+ servers each (no, not Skial or Lotusclan, those were older and somewhat disreputable for fake players even before F2P; cleaned their act after that a bit) that just popped up randomly. No real community of regulars behind them and seeding them every night, no real active server owners or admins, shitty plugins, too many servers ran on machines that couldn't handle it and they lagged badly, etc. Things got even worse when they pressured Valve into thinking that Pinion and the like was a good idea to 'save' community servers - that was abused badly by many, and you literally had entire farms of shady servers milking gullible player connections for ad impressions and thus money. Those types of servers also started spoofing bots, and filling your server with them posing as real players gave them loads of server-ranking points because they had so much 'traffic', which prioritized them in Quickplay. Whenever I tried to look up servers via the initial forms of QP, I'd never be offered the actually good (I know it's a bit subjective, but hey) long-standing one- or two-server communities that were in my Favorites list, but mostly these random generic shitholes that had spoofed bots or just didn't really have admins and any real regulars. Mostly a worse form of Valve servers. TL,DR: It's true that hundreds of terrible, unneeded and even shady servers popped up after the game went f2p with the Uber update, but QP actually allowed them to thrive for a time and encouraged people to just set up a chain of 10 crap servers instead of a single well-maintainted and admined one, one that took effort to populate and keep in a good state, with players actually coming back. Many of the old established communites (that were still doing mostly fine for a couple of years or so due to the pool of existing regulars they had) simply got drowned and overlooked in a sea of shit. So maybe community servers did screw themselves, but the bad ones post-Uber update screwed over the older good ones, and QP had a big part in the excessive number of new servers that nobody really asked for.
Rocket jumper soldiers. Is it bad that I deliberately hurt myself to take away health packs from RJ soldiers?
Servers with 10+ minute ads that continue playing during gameplay should be fucking banned. Had to endure several minutes of listening to what I think is an ad to Battleborn. Wanted to leave, but I also didn't want to disappoint my teammates.
I was once on a server that would replay a 15s ad every 2 minutes. Alt tab, open your volume mixer and look for something like 'Steam Client Web Helper'. That controls the volume of media in the overlay (not steam sounds though) and the volume of HTML ads in the MOTD.
Mannpower is fucking awful. It hurts even more knowing that the TF2 team could have done something useful with the time and resources devoted to this garbage excuse for a game-mode. I mean wasn't the general feeling that most of the 2014 Smissmas update was damage control after the big letdown/cashgrab of the EOTL update, with Mannpower being a giant pile of stuff thrown together to give the TF2 Team a semblance of competence?
In-Game Flash player
oh my god flash player is one of the most insecure, broken, shitty programs there is that is still used commonly like get that fucking shit out of the game
I wish Twitch didn't use Flash so I could finally remove it from my computer forever
I hate that I can look at a spy and still be backstabbed by them

It's unlikely that it could've been whipped up from nothing in just a few weeks after End of the Line, but it definitely felt and feels like a weird, experimental mode that combines random concepts from old-school shooters (that didn't have distinct classes) and thus doesn't really fit TF2's class design and gameplay. Haven't tried it out since it went official in SF 2015, is it still a few people per team hogging up the best power/class combos and beating the everliving crap from enemies that often can't even get proper buffs? The differences in power between unbuffed and buffed players (especially certain combos), and the resulting differences in scores were always staggering when I played the mode a bit during Beta. The amount of 20+ killstreaks I've seen, at the expense of newer players and kids getting ruthlessly demolished...
Man, it's so much fun being called a "9 year old kid with a small dick" by a white bill's hat puff n sting pyro with a lenny face avatar that has been spamming the chat with "BUYING UNUJULULZ PUR KEIZ!!!" when his name is saying he is selling them for pure keys after you dominate him. It is such joy to fight against that type of people, am I right? :v:
how in comp when you leave over and over because people abandon you slowly lose rank progress
Demoknights in pubs. My team seemingly forgets he only has melee and decides the best way to kill him is running and headbutting him. He now has 4 heads, and has high health and runs at the speed of a scout. Please guys, you're only making him stronger demoknight is shit though if you have a competent enemy team
Thought I would play Mannpower, decided to try it out... Until 2 people came in and started tunnelvisioning me for no other reason than I was the only one that had a brain in my team and relied on losing crits to kill me. I still carried the team and won, but jesus fucking christ man. If you are bad at the game and have to rely on 3x damage that is given to you to kill me, you do not have the right to think you deserved that kill and have the right to taunt me. Love how they called me "axe monkey" though, just cause I killed both of them with the Skullcutter.
Love how they called me "axe monkey" though, just cause I killed both of them with the Skullcutter.
Now I have a new way to insult a person, thank you.
why did they remove the parachute flight when on fire? who the hell complained about this?

It's more like a novelty for me rather than an actual game mode. But what the fuck do I know, all I do is go to trade servers to snipe and play CTF on Turbine.
When people say 'it's only a pub'. Was trying to get an engie kicked on BarnBlitz as he was out of the map and he kept saying it's only a pub. Pubs is all I am good enough to play so I find it really annoying when people effectively spoil the game to mess about and troll.
I absolutely hate that phrase "it's only a pub, hurr." This isn't CS:GO, the "it's casual" excuse doesn't work here.
If anything proves to me that Valve's radical model of "no bosses" doesn't work, it's their utter ADHD habit of building something up and then completely ignoring it exists. See: duels, replays, arena mode, the lore, and now MVM. If Pass Time wasn't being done by someone else, I would absolutely believe that it would be next on the slab. I half expect Matchmaking to suffer the same fate and get a few big updates, then be utterly ignored. I don't want to be that cynical, but I thought MVM wouldn't be set aside either, and look what happened there. What really gets me is there's achievements which people can't even get anymore without cheating because Valve either phased it out or left it broken. For everyone who didn't get their replay achievements and so on, they're stuck. If they aren't going to do anything with that, at least they could leave them broken so people aren't locked out of getting 100%. That's just unprofessional and lazy.
Wait, Replay achievements are broken? I only ever got the editing ones and not the viewer ones, but if you can't even get those then RIP Frontline Field Recorder
I wish they just removed the Replay achievements at this point, especially the YT-related ones. 99% of people that got the Field Recorder hat did it through a trick/exploit, and uploading replays to YT doesn't even work anymore and hasn't for a few years now. It's just aggravating for those that want to have all achievements cleared legitly as well. At least the 4 achieves tied to saving a replay, editing and rendering it can still be done, since there's a handful of Replay-enabled community servers out there. But the Replay Editor is still glitchy and unstable as hell and can produce corrupted replays (haven't used it in 2+ years, tbh). It's just dead, bugged content that kinda had ludicrious demands anyway (Getting 100k Youtube views in a legit way? Not unless you're someone like STAR_, and even then full-time popular Youtubers with that many views/subs use far more powerful recording and editing tools than the messy and limited in-game Replay Editor).
