Valve abandoning double-drop week. Valve abandoning noisemakers & decals. Valve abandoning numerous components of the game: Crafting, Replays, Coaching, Training mode, TF Bots. Valve abandoning numerous gamemodes: Territorial Control, Arena, Special Delivery, Medieval Mode. Valve abandoning salvaged crates. Valve abandoning shuffle crates. Valve abandoning strange parts. Valve abandoning taunt crates & new taunt unusuals. Valve abandoning their Github and Linux issues. If it compiles, they don't care. Valve abandoning their SFM blog and tutorial videos. Still not releasing the other "Meet the Team" source files. Valve abandoning weekly workshop items. Valve adding CS:GO item grades with weird ass rainbow colors. Valve adding more and more maps that are barely optimized. Valve adding a ton of ugly weapon skins that rot on the Steam Market for 10 cents each, when festives & aussies were doing just fine. Valve copy and pasting maps for Mannpower instead of making new ones. Valve committing to the idea of releasing their map and model sources, then failing to deliver any new content for over 6 years and still going. Valve failing to keep an almost 10 year old game running above 30 FPS. Valve forgetting PASS Time exists. Valve getting rid of Cactus Canyon stage 2. Valve getting rid of regular festives. Valve getting rid of the original 9 hats for absolutely no reason. RIP Disco Beat Down Demoman's Fro, Aces High Soldier's Stash. Valve hiring less and less people that actually know how the Source engine or TF2 even works. Gotta fund that shitty hardware dept. Valve ignoring many useless weapons that need changing: Sun-on-a-stick, Sharpened Volcano Fragment, Panic Attack, The Classic, Dalokohs Bar, Mantreads, Manmelter Valve keeping community servers and custom map servers out of quickplay. Valve keeping sv_pure on non-matchmaking servers. Valve making DX9 a requirement for matchmaking just so Twitch streams can be "consistent". Valve not adding new content to MvM in over 2 years. Valve not fixing the countless broken materials for items and weapons (including crit glows). Valve not following their own guidelines when selecting workshop items. Valve not giving a single fuck about the HLDS mailing list. Valve not realizing the shitload of bugs currently in the game. Mann Co. Catalog being broken, avatars not working, players holding all 3 weapons at once, etc. Valve not updating Cactus Canyon and Asteroid in over a year. Valve pretending Hydro doesn't exist and replacing it with Powerhouse is "good enough". Valve refusing to add a workshop for said weapon skins. Valve rejecting community MvM content. Valve requiring people have an overclocked Core i7 to run a game designed for Pentium 4's. I can go on. This is basically a laundry list of why I'm dissatisfied with this game in its current state.
so you don't think having suicide spies or bonked scouts infinitely reset a flag timer with zero effort or skill is a problem?
That exact problem was tackled in the CTF mode in Gang Garrison 2. Instead of the flag timers being reset when touched, they instead start a countdown. The countdown lasts as long as they are alive and still holding the flag. If the countdown ends, the flag timer is reset as per usual. If the countdown doesn't finish, the flag instead only adds the amount counted down to the current flag reset timer. As an example, say there are 10 seconds left on the flag before it returns. Someone nicks it and dies immediately, the timer is still at 10 seconds. If that person instead died 5 seconds later, the timer would be at 15 seconds. GG2 implements it so that the intel timer directly scales with player movement speed. Default time is 3 seconds, but faster-moving classes have to hold it for a longer period of time for them to fully reset the timer as an anti-frustration feature. It severely cuts into the effectiveness of simply throwing bodies at the flag once it gets to the middle area of the map.

But yeah you got a point. Valve's abandoned many great things that in many cases don't even need that much attention to work their magic, just a bit more than nil.
Not being able to play comp because your mobile authenticatior is completely borked is pretty fun too
Valve deciding to add misc items and weapon skins that contradict the idea of easy class and weapon identification.
I dunno, I've never had any issue telling what weapon someone is using due to weapon skins.
i wish there was a no hat mod that didn't disable bodygroups
I come back to actually playing TF2 after a taking a break for a while only for my 4th match back to have a hacker on both team. One was a blatant aimbot that was complaining about the hacker on our team and saying "bad." after every kill and the one on our team was pretending to be someone brand new to the game who was also using an aimbot. One on our team was actually using voice chat surprisingly enough and unsurprisingly he was obviously fairly young. At least one of them has already been VAC banned at least.
I dunno, I've never had any issue telling what weapon someone is using due to weapon skins.
The only one I recall anyone really having issues with honestly was that one Orange Rocket Launcher that people kept saying it looked too close to the Rocket Jumper... and then I saw it myself and then asked "people have issues distinguishing them from the jumper?". I guess I agree with most of what Snowshoe is saying, but
Valve abandoning numerous gamemodes: Territorial Control, Arena, Special Delivery, Medieval Mode.
These gamemodes were all pretty much DOA. I wouldn't want them devoting more time to mediocre gamemodes like these. Now if we're talking about gamemodes they should be supporting more, look at rd and pd.
Valve abandoning salvaged crates.
Salvaged crates sucked. There's no reason that you should have to shell out loads of cash for the privilege to pay Valve money. Yeah, the cases are a bit pricey when they first drop too, but nowhere near as much as a salvaged crate, and if you really want to unbox you can just do it when they're dirt cheap at the end of the campaign.
Valve adding a ton of ugly weapon skins that rot on the Steam Market for 10 cents each, when festives & aussies were doing just fine.
Most all of the low tier skins for tough break look really good.
Valve failing to keep an almost 10 year old game running above 30 FPS. Valve requiring people have an overclocked Core i7 to run a game designed for Pentium 4's.
TF2 can run on any old potato at 60 fps with configs, if you're really playing at 30 fps that's on you, not Valve. You can't expect to run the game on a commodore 64.
Valve pretending Hydro doesn't exist and replacing it with Powerhouse is "good enough".
Hydro is fundementally flawed, no amount of tweaking will make it anything but garbage. The connection to powerhouse makes no sense, there's zero connection between the two maps except visual similarities. Saying that powerhouse was meant to replace Hydro is like saying sd_doomsday was meant to replace dustbowl.
It annoys me how I can't find a server in the server in the browser that; Has a wide rotation of a variety of maps Has a strong population of regulars Allows mods Isn't FAST Isn't shitty map 2Fort, Dustbowl and hightower etc 24/7 Isn't Valve Isn't 32 man Isn't Orange Isn't trade
Could we get a thread to promote good servers?

Many people (including myself) still don't care about the skins Valve imports to this game, and when someone sees that from a far distance for the first time it is really confusing.
TF2 can run on any old potato at 60 fps with configs, if you're really playing at 30 fps that's on you, not Valve. You can't expect to run the game on a commodore 64. Before this change in place, any significant Core steal would almost stop the defending team on their tracks - the Core would be too important to leave and try accomplishing any of the objectives (steal the enemy one, kill the robots), while the attacking team would get a free advantage of at least 2-3 people not gurarding the robots, gaining too much control over both objectives of the mode. It's just a bit sad that while appropriately fixing problems specific to RD, TF2 Team didn't think a little outside of the gamemode's box.

My comp rank went from halfway full to totally empty over the course of maybe 4 matches. One of which had a deserter (since one of our teammates didn't connect and we ended up getting rolled), but it decided to count that as a loss anyways. I sure love Valve's track record of just releasing broken, buggy, poorly-optimized and thought-out game modes, calling it "beta" to absolve them of any and all responsibility, and then just leaving it like that. I'm honestly going to be surprised if we get ACTUAL Comp Matchmaking within the next two years, let alone fucking Asteroid or Cactus Canyon (which is a shame, because Asteroid is a contender for my favorite map).
When is Valve ever going to fucking fix quickplay? I'm so sick and tired of having to try and find Virginia servers instead of being automatically put in a Singapore server. I didn't even know that TF2 had Singapore servers!

Remember, you're salty if you don't think fighting a team of five engineers is fun.
Decided to try out Matchmaking again since I was stuck on Low Priority until the 25th, got paired against a team being carried by a Death Merchant, lost, got paired up with the same team AGAIN, then abandoned and got the Low Priority extended until May 17th :nope:
this engine should be remembered throughout history as to what happens when all the players are half a second ahead of their actual movement and actions as seen on external perspectives
Remember, you're salty if you don't think fighting a team of five engineers is fun.
I was playing pyro the other day protecting about 4 of them. I suddenly realised 'fuck this', these guys built half way back (it was payload) and let the rest of us get absolutely spanked at first point. So I just watched the blue ubered demo and co take out all their stuff :D
This is precisely why I enjoy playing TF2 the most when there are no Spies on the server.
This is precisely why I enjoy playing TF2 the most when there are no Spies on the server.
I honestly think that spies were created just make TF2 less fun. Its no fun at all dealing with them.
Spies are un-fun in pubs Spies are un-useful in comp Verdict: spy is a bad class
