Demo-mains, you never know what is true fear until you see one of them... With a hat painted black/green/pink, his devilish grin and precious stickybomb with a lot of prefix or names attached to it. You can't fight back no matter what, try using Short Circuit? miss one time and you are done. Try to evade his stickies? they seem to always detonate right under your feet and deal incredible damage every single time they press M2. His pipes never miss a shot, and if they are critboosted may God have mercy on your soul
Can Valve *please* for the love of god rework autobalance? As much as I hate it, it's a necessary evil, because people wouldn't change to a less-playered team without it, but I hate hate HATE being killed by bullshit at the final point of the enemy team before instantly getting autobalanced to the enemy team and quitting the server because why do I even bother?
yesterday i went to a watergate server and got the winning cap. before the win registered i got killed and autobalanced to the losing team.
I think TF2, being cartoony, free and not requiring powerful hardware, might be many kids' first/only FPS game, so they're really not even remotely used to the mouse + keyboard control scheme and have painfully slow reactions and non-existent situational awareness. Those of us that have 10-15 years (or more) of playing FPS games with a mouse and a keyboard, especially fast MP titles, just take for granted things like strafing, being able to quickly and accurately rotate your view around and aim with a mouse, responding to sounds and glimpses of enemies circling around you and not just tunnelvisioning on one enemy in front of you... Yesterday, I was spectating this obviously-new Soldier that managed to not react to a enemy Sniper running past him for several seconds, then proceeded to miss 4 or 5 Shotgun shots from close range while turning as slowly as an oil tanker, and ended up being meleed to death by the circle-strafing Sniper despite having full health.
Or, like me, built a pc and looked down Steam's free games. 'oh this looks cool' 'shit, why can't I jump up this small ledge?' 'shit, how do I use a mouse and keyboard?' Even now, 450 hours later I'm not great at hitting specific keys, which is probably why my rocket-jumping is so-so. I get by mainly on game sense and okay-ish aim.
Having that one ally Scout that runs literally everywhere and going directly where you're cloaked. Getting you hit by one single particle of fire and giving your position away... Like dude, calm your space bar spam and watch where you're going.
its because you cant taunt in water. similar things happen if you use bonk or fall off a ledge from momentum while eating.
that's dumb that it makes you lose it though
This motherfucker on pl_barnblitz. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ydWtRBK.jpg[/t] From this distance, I always mistake it for a Red player and pop a flare or rocket at it. You would've thought I'd have learned by now, but nope. Without fail. Every single time. [t]http://i.imgur.com/A7TxChg.jpg[/t] Apologies for the horrible low-quality textures in the screenshots, I thought it'd help alleviate the horrible periods of lag I've been experiencing recently. (It did not.)
I hate those fan female classes Especially Scout.
Scout and pyro are the only classes I know of that have fan female versions.
If we're talking actual models, I know Sniper definitely has one out there and I seem to recall seeing a Spy one once, but I'm not entirely certain on that one. The other Mercs are all a bit ugly, so I'd imagine the kind of people who make those models wouldn't see much point in producing female versions for them?
There was a very obvious hacker on a Valve server and our team wasn't having it. I volunteered to switch teams and initiate a votekick since the other team wasn't doing anything about it. So as the top player of BLU, I switch over and become second only to the hacker, who has made 127 points in a single round as a Sniper, who got headshots only, and tracked cloaked spies. I initiate a votekick, and then three people chime up in voicechat saying, "Hey, you joined this team to kick our top player! Vote no!" Of course, the vote fails. Annoying as it was, the game went on and BLU team was completely destroyed. As a result, teams were scrambled. The people who were previously voting for the hacker were now facing the hacker, who was now spinbotting. I queried the people in the server to ask them if it was obvious now. "I still don't think he's hacking." :freakout:
Scout and pyro are the only classes I know of that have fan female versions.
We are forgetting Femsniper, Fempy, Femmedic and Femheavy
We are forgetting Femsniper, Fempy, Femmedic and Femheavy
There is also Femgineer.
There is also Femgineer.
I thought I wrote it. Thanks for the correction.
-snip- I was wrong.

Talking of horrific model mods, I accidentally ended up on this server yesterday, which had a plethora of Rainbow Dash Scouts, Donkey Kong Heavies, naked Heavies (replete with jiggle-boned dongs), and obnoxious unusual hats on all Engie buildings, making them incredibly obvious to anyone anywhere near them. :suicide: (There was a lot more nonsense I'm failing to remember right now, but if you want to see the worst of the worst of TF2 mods, take a minute or two to visit this server. They have paid VIP perks, too! Who'd've thought it?)
So, I was playing some Widowmaker Texan boi today. I had a fight with this Scout, where I ran outta pistol ammo. I ran away to get ammo and shit, so he ran at me with his bat. I swung my punch at him, then... I hit the dispenser behind me, built by PROSNIPER
himself. I lose my Widowmaker ammo, while also having little to no time to reload my pistol or even have health to survive that reload. So I died, and that Scout had the fucking audacity to taunt.
HIW THE HELL DID YOU RUN OUT OF PISTOL AMMO ON ENGINEER?!
A serious dedication to pistol spam and an intense allergy to dispensers.
I will never understand why engineer has 200 ammo on his pistol. I mean, its not like its broken or anything, its just really ridiculous.
I will never understand why engineer has 200 ammo on his pistol. I mean, its not like its broken or anything, its just really ridiculous.
-what pyscho said-
isn't just wonderful when the enemy team has a hacker and isn't kicking him because he's on their team?
IIRC it's an old hold over from when engy was going to have the nailgun and that would have had 200 ammo, but then the nailgun got removed from TF2 and replaced with the pistol, but the ammo count remained the same.
Engineer never had a nailgun. He had a railgun but that's more like the Pomson than anything else. Hell, Scout actually had a nailgun in early iterations of TF2 and is still seen in early game trailers. If it's a holdover from anything, it's from when ammo counts were an aggregate value like it was in TFC and the TF2 pistol drew from the same pool that the wrench did.
Being an Engineer on a dumb team on offense is really frustrating. Engineer seems to have, more than anyone else, an uncanny ability to completely disrupt teamwork. Because of how teams spawn in waves but teleporters only teleport one person at a time, people then tend to rush into the enemy base headlong on their own, separated from everyone else, and die because they're alone. I find myself often switching off Engineer and suddenly the team does much better. It's this weird unintended consequence of teleports.

I mean if you personally don't want to put a dent in your own team's respawn waves, put down a level 1 but otherwise upgrade your everything else. Sure you might get bitched at by a few people, but so long as your team is getting some actual results, the few players that do wind up teleporting won't be affecting that very much unless they are a critical class such as a Medic.
My favourite thing is when scouts insist on using the teleporter, especially when it's at level 1
My favourite thing is when scouts insist on using the teleporter, especially when it's at level 1
Nothing like seeing a crowd of scouts fighting over a teleporter.
