If you do it in a tight room where hitting directly is fairly easy you can effectively double donk constantly while knocking them back to keep them from advancing on you.
I really hate being an Engineer main. The fact that EVERY SINGLE CLASS has some form of counter for them is so stupid.
I hate being Engineer because when I stop using him, the team suddenly loses its competency and we get steamrolled by 3 heavy/medic pairs.
I hate being Engineer because when I stop using him, the team suddenly loses its competency and we get steamrolled by 3 heavy/medic pairs.
Yeah, and those Heavy/Medic pairs are usually born just because "G-guys I saw a sentry! The FUCK are we gonna do?!" "Chill dude just go heavy/medic lol or spy nobody guards nests anyways lol"
met an obnoxious rich douche (almost all classes had a high tier unusual) spawn camping us all as a demo-medic. I pointed out how it was just ruining and he accused me of being "A kid screaming on a pub" Seriously, pub or not, spawn camping is an asshole move. Also mentioned how he was just training demo since he was a bad one. Yet he had an unusual sticky bomb launcher skin. Fuck that guy This is mostly salt talking though.
Also mentioned how he was just training demo since he was a bad one.
He sounds like that one guy on your team who spends the whole round idle while trading, while the rest of your team is out doing their part. No wonder he has to do "training" to be (or at least feel) half-decent.

If The scorch shot is airblast from any range, the stock rocket launcher is airblast from any range. The problem with airblast was never that it knocks you around, it was that you could stunlock with it.

I know people say 'xyx isn't fun to play against', but this isn't at all. [editline]17th June 2016[/editline]
i got kicked on a valve server once for defending the intel alone as a pyro, instead of camping behind our[sp]terrible, darwins danger shield-using, obnoxious cosmetics-wearing, less than 10 points, whining[/sp]sniper and spychecking for him, because it's so hard to move or turn around every now and then.
I find that really tricky in pubs/lobbies etc. You want to go and push the cart or whatever because nobody else is, you want to deflect the constant rockets and pills away from your team with your airblast, but then you also have to stand at the back and ward off the potentially numerous spies. I must admit, I find it difficult.

Fuck that guy This is mostly salt talking though.
I just wish area's around spawn room doors would destroy stickies if placed. Well, that and building teleporter entrances inside the actual doors would be blocked. Other then that, I don't have an issue personally with spawn, or camping in general. More so on maps like 2fort ( yeah I know ) where spawn camping is sort of required to an extent so you can keep your team from getting trapped between respawned enemies and pushing for the intel enemies. Some people use special skins and what not to encourage them to play a class more to learn it. I started practicing sniper more when I unboxed my strange festive sniper rifle years ago so I can say it from experience.
Valve's just inconsistent with permitting irregular spawn design in general. Dustbowl, Harvest, and Viaduct have box-like spawns with no windows and/or one person can cover all the entrances easily. Junction, Steel, and Gravelpit have problems where buildings are protected by spawn barriers and are unable to be destroyed by the opposing team. Respawn areas are also inconsistent causing people to die if they switch classes despite behind behind the spawn barrier. Egypt has its own problems with those long respawn area hallways that are unbuildable.
You know what really grinds my gears? People that blame everything on me after a loss when I play medic. I can't help not being able to heal you because I'm trying to prevent the sniper from across the map from hitting me. I can't help dying to a scout that you can't protect me from making me drop my uber. But the one thing I can't help most of all is a bad team.

Being able to keep a team in their spawn objectively makes it the easiest to carry out the objective, and there's a lot of tools to help with breaking it. If I'm a demo and get to the enemy spawn to take out teles or something I will spawncamp as hard as I possibly can until I'm taken out, as it both sends the other team into respawn time AND distracts them for very understandable reasons. You have the resupply cabinet in spawn, and for stickies (one of the few things that can truly insta-kill you as you go out) there's the short circuit, or if the demo has superhuman reflexes the safer options of quickie bomb/ScoRes or even scorch shot/detonator. And ubers, dead ringer spies (admittingly not as effective nowadays) and more. If a team ignores the objective just to spawn camp, then that's the kind of situation scrambles are for though. If a team can actually all just go to the enemy spawn and ignore the cart and STILL have complete control of the game to the point where they can go and cap at their leisure to extend the round, then the team on the recieving end is either legitimately outclassed beyond the point of fairness or consists of nothing but squishy classes. But yeah, to put it bluntly and in a kind of mean way. If the entire enemy team can go to your spawn and click on it as it opens, your team deserves it in my opinion. But it is just straight up unsportsmanlike to ignore objectives in order to spawncamp for as long as possible.

But it is just straight up unsportsmanlike to ignore objectives in order to spawncamp for as long as possible.
I'm cool with it honestly. To be frank, spawn camping is a shit ton harder to do in TF2 then in other games where it can be problematic. You spawn in a "safe zone" which the enemy team shouldn't be able to enter. They cannot directly fire at you unless people are actively holding the doors open for them to do so. You also have the Supply cabinets that not only fully heals you, but replenishes ammo and fully reloads you weapons. You have more then enough deal with spawn camping under normal circumstances. Spawn camping is only really an issues when you respawn in a set area ( usually a base or around your objectives ) and can be killed imminently without a chance to effectually do anything about it. Something that cannot be done in TF2 on normal maps unless there's a map fault at play. The only reason I mention stickies, is because even that short circuit won't counter it properly. Demoman just has to det the stickies the instant the door opens and your dead. Most doors aren't transparent either so you won't have a means of seeing it before hand and if the spawnroom only has a single exit your trapped pretty much. I dunno if DR spies are enough to get through either now with the changes to the Dead Ringer. Uber is still a thing I guess, or hope that the demoman is really slow at detonating his stickies. I will admit though, some maps are a little problematic ( harvest being a good example ), but I feel it's not the players fault but more of the map designs fault. Harvest gives the enemy team height advantage options on top of making the spawn room doors far to close to one another for my tastes.
I only really find spawn camping with stickies annoying when you've got one shutter door to exit from.
When I jump to avoid a headshot from a sniper I spot at the last second but proceed to then get air headshotted.
When I jump to avoid a headshot from a sniper I spot at the last second but proceed to then get air headshotted.
this but with ducking it's as if they're learning oh gOD
When I jump to avoid a headshot from a sniper I spot at the last second but proceed to then get air headshotted.
Jumping is probably one of the worst ways to try to avoid a headshot unless you have some advanced mobility in the air to pair with it. You put yourself in such a predictable trajectory that any competent sniper could put the crosshair on where your head will wind up when you land. Airstrafing can be done by all classes but it can only do so much when you're at default speed or slower.
I only really find spawn camping with stickies annoying when you've got one shutter door to exit from.
One of my favorite things to do when being spawn camped with stickies is to go Shotgun/Short Circuit Engie, right click with the circuit upon opening the door, and charge the demo while filling his ass with shotgun slugs.

It's easy ish to sneak past the attacking team as a demo and spawn camp them as they die one by one and they don't bother informing each other that a demo is behind spawn camping. It feels harsh too when you're a decent player/playing properly and you die at the front after everybody else goes down and spawn only to find yourself being spawn camped 15seconds later. From a team v team thing it's perfectly fair, but on an individual basis it can feel so harsh and out of your control.
in theory yes in practice duckjumps twist your hitboxes all over the place and there's zero reason to not duckjump
Jumping by itself is what I was talking about, there's an embarrassing amount of people who think that'll work. Ducking is the best course of action if you are on the ground or hopping around. The janky hitboxes make it really unreliable.
