Even then under most circumstances if an Engineer is using the Rescue Ranger then it still shouldn't be that hard to take out his sentry if you have proper teamwork. The Engineer can only heal his sentry for so long before he has to reload, this slowing down his healing capabilities by quite a bit. Just have one guy shoot the sentry for a bit, then send another guy out directly afterwards and finish the job with the Rescue Ranger in its gimped state. That, or send a Spy, because it can get pretty hard to kill a spy if your only attack weapon in the Rescue Ranger (Unless you use your Pistol but I've never seen an Engi who goes Rescue Ranger/Pistol and take it seriously before).

Killed so many spies.
The wrangler is still pretty useful on the more open maps for shooting people trying to spam you from outside the sentry's range.

Or alternatively, free heals that make the Jag even more overpowered.

It all sounds powerful until you take into account it makes the engie much more dependent on his buildings since it's killing power is minimal.

And so what if you get a damage reduction, the 2nd pipe out of their fucking grenade launchers always fucking crits, so you're still fucked no matter what. I watched one brain dead retard fire at a window fresh out of spawn, didn't earn any of that damage shit you're supposed to do get more crits than normal, and out of the 8 pipes he fired at that window, 5 of them were crit. I can quite literally stand at a dispenser and fire for 10 minutes straight as a heavy, and not get a fucking crit. Or any weapon, for that matter. I might get a crit one a weapon....4-5 times a day. Ask people who play with me a lot, like Anderan. He'll pocket me sometimes when shit actually needs to get done, and he can attest that I rarely fire as many crits as these brain dead retards who've just walked out of spawn, fired a weapon once, and get instant crits. The entire random crit system is broken as fuck and needs to be removed in my opinion. It doesn't make the game fun, it kills it.
I can agree with you that the Half-Zatoichi's crits and the short charge crits are dumb, but Jesus Christ, calm down. We don't need to go through this a second time.

I always felt numb in the brain after playing Byre, mostly due to trying to play Scout, only to be met with a critical rocket from the Soldier who just joined the damn game. Bonus points if a mini-sentry just got plopped down beside me.

I still have no fucking clue why they have randumb crits enabled, and the forced to spectate mechanic is pretty dumb. It's no fun to play when like you said, a random ass fucking crocket comes out and destroys you.
As a Scout who likes to use the Fan of war, everytime I mark an enemy, die, and await the delayed assist yet I get none makes me slightly depressed.

I've seen custom servers do it a lot better, without the stupid wait times as well
I was wondering why arena was so abandoned until I played it on a valve server. The wait sucks, and there's nothing stopping two pacifists from making everyone wait forever. Who cares if a round is 7v8, let people play.

The control point exists to prevent stalemates. But the fact that it makes you vulnerable combined with the unspoken rule of "capping = bad" makes it so nobody really wants to. On a related subject I hate how the arena maps are some of the prettiest ones but they're barely ever played

[/QUOTE] It might be "free" but you only have 4 shots before you need to reload, if it used metal engies would be able to tank even better because it would basically become the widowmaker and let you fire without reloading. Frankly that would be even more powerful because now at least you can take advantage of the engie having to reload.

They're very fun (except ctf_2fort_invasion, unless you like 2fort, but it's at least very pretty). They're also free and constitute the main part of the update. There's nothing in the crates but cosmetics and weapon skins—shit you can trade for if you want it. There's no real content you're being denied for not paying.

After all, the invasion pass is essentially "Want to pay money for a tiny chance to get the item you want from this crate? Better pay us some [i]money[/i] first!"

I might've just been unlucky with the community servers I've tried out arena on, but my memories involved fun combinations like getting kicked for even pretending to cap the point to lure the last enemy out, while a CnD spy or the two last guys that decide to Conga around the entire map don't get kicked at all. First blood crits are silly, both because they can straight up wipe a team (especially on Byre, as if a demo capping one point gets them he can walk like 5 steps and lob sticks onto the other point, more or less) At least people don't kick you for capping on Valve servers, and Byre is pretty small. Most rounds are over in like 45 seconds at most in my experience.
Random blind spam grenade crit on Byre explodes half the entire team as we're coming up the crest of the hill right outside spawn. Grrr.

the whole philosophy behind arena is to reward those who take the risk and punish those who make the mistake, all of it to make rounds last as little as posible. there is a reason why scout gets two achievements for said kill and the following crit. unfortunately, most players will simply rush towards the enemy team and get insta-killed, making the whole point of co-op effort moot.
