they mean when you kill them
Has anyone ever tried using a pick class to specifically target a Friendly Heavy, and, like, taunt after every kill or something to get the Heavy to either leave the server, or actually play the game? I haven't found enough Hoovies to try this on, but i'm legitimately curious as to whether or not it would work. Not that i dislike seeing Hoovies every so often, but if some many people supposedly hate them, why not have a little fun stealing a few points from them? :v:
I don't mind friendlies at all as long as they aren't toxic or annoying. It's always fun to bump into a taunting heavy and taunt with him.
Playing engie on payload and I'm just getting round to setting up sentry half way down the short map (teles up) and all of a sudden, in steams a bunch of heavies and soldiers and obliterates it and me. The game has only been going a short while so I'm utterly bemused as to how our defence has wilted so quickly, especially with decent teleporters up. Pretty annoying to see all your stuff go up in flames so soon.

Friendlies just make it worse by wasting a slot.

Chances are you're going to get demolished anyways, so why not have fun while you're at it. I hate it when you open up the server browser and filter by players with any amount of ping and the most populated servers are Achievement and idle servers. Rip good pl community servers.
similar to above, I hate it when searching for a server in the Browser is worse than using the Quickplay list. Seriously. Sorting and filtering still gives me completely randomly sorted lists, and sometimes the browser gives me a list of ~15 servers only, even with no tags or restrictions. I find few or no Servers playing official maps. Skial and other Pinion-loving "Kick-because-no-motd-enabled" servers have Valve tags, and are pretty shitty otherwise, and the only populated servers are Idle or Coustom gamemode servers. I spend a good 5-10 minutes searching for a half-decent server with the browser, meanwhile with the quickplay list, i click three buttons, and less than 30 seconds later, i'm playing in a populated server. RIP good community servers indeed.
On the topic of new players, I actually get killed by them more easily than regular players. Regulars are very predictable down to the very last letter. Newbies do weird shit like suddenly freeze like their keyboard was unplugged, or out of nowhere just bolt off in another direction for god knows why. If I need to lead my shots (Huntsman for example) it completely screws me over. What's worse is when a newbie learns how to use his weapons. They aren't afraid to rush you with a shotgun, let alone their melee in very close quarters, where any other player would keep their distance as you and they duke it out.
“The best swordsman in the world doesn’t need to fear the second-best swordsman; no, the person for him to be afraid of is some ignorant antagonist who has never had a sword in his hand before; he doesn’t do the thing he ought to do, and so the expert isn’t prepared for him.” - Mark Twain
but I have had some fun encounters where for whatever reason I bump into an enemy and we don't kill each other, that's always nice.
I once bumped into a Pyro while being a Soldier. He was waiting for me to fire, I was waiting for him to airblast. We ended up saying "Thanks!" to each other and going in opposite directions.
If you ever play friendly heavy I hope you stop playing soon because these players do nothing but make the game constantly worse.
I'm going to play friendly Heavy to spite you and your tired comment. How's that sound?

I've been playing since the Heavy Update and I haven't gotten any better at this game, yet I love it so. I know basic concepts and ideas and how to strategize, but I never seem to be able to pull them off when I'm behind my weapon. I have no clue how to play anyone other than a pocket medic or full-charge soldier, and even then I'm mediocre at best. It's only when people tell me that the items I use are crap do I switch out, yet somehow I still find people who know how to use them. I know that little rant is more against me than it is the game, but I felt this was the only place I could express it. I'll swallow my pride and hire a coach next time I'm on. But I'll probably STILL hate scouts.
fuck this trading escrow bullshit. activated an authenticator just to get it out of the way, decided to just do a trade right now and deal with the 3 day wait(haven't had the authenticator for 7 days yet oh nooooo), asks me to confirm the trade on my phone, but nope lol fuck you wait another 7 days because you just logged in for the first time on this device lol!!! I'm so glad Valve is treating me like a retarded child
I hate escrow, mainly because I have a windows phone and there is no steam app for it. I mean why can't Valve make a steam app for windows phones?

I think dueling with a high-level opponent will only have benefits when you're at a somewhat high level yourself already, else it'll do the reverse.
befriend good players then mge them :v:
I find that most of your deaths come from getting yourself in stupid situations. If you take the time to aim, don't unload your weapon unless you're pretty sure something is going to hit, or get yourself into a position you can't miss, you can hit the enemy pretty effectively and not die as much.

Had a friendly heavy on a manpower map, he wasn't giving the other team sandwiches ... he was giving them our power-ups
Had a friendly heavy on a manpower map, he wasn't giving the other team sandwiches ... he was giving them our power-ups
Dont play braindead grapple hook trade server mode and expect competent players next time. Honestly the only thing I like about mannpower was that it might take the lel friendly, TDM, anti team type players away from regular game modes.
Playing Heavy is a very good way to practice aim and gauge whether or not you can beat a tough situation.

-snip- How did it get posted?
I hate the Sniper shields. They're just counterplay against specific classes without doing anything for it or being remotely interesting. It just stops those classes from being effective on you, and that's it.

Does the same still apply for the projectile hitboxes?

It pisses me off how the whole escrow thing, if you don't have a compatible smartphone (so not just older phones, but modern Windows phones as well), isn't just a 3-day incovenience in practice, but rather makes you an unwanted trading partner that almost nobody will want to trade with now (not even simple automated trade offers that were easy, reliable, elegant and without the need for bargaining in the past). Either that or greedy shits will try to use the lack of authentication as an excuse to charge extra (25% or more), even though I'm sure they could wait 3 days for those 2-3 ref for a simple cosmetic. While escrow sounds like it only makes trading delayed for a few days on paper, in practice it pretty much makes you a second-grade citizen and unwanted trade partner that will have all his trade offers blocked on the spot. It also means that a new, inexperienced player has a much harder time simply exchanging their weapon drops/metal/keys for weapons they might be missing, because bot trade sites like scrap.tf now mostly require either the real thing or the Desktop authenticator workaround. I know there's Geel's Desktop Authenticator, which I'm probably gonna be forced to start using, but I'm reluctant about using third-party software (even though I know he's included encryption now), potential security vulnerabilites, and the chance of Valve banning the software and making it illegal at some point in the future. Because with so many people likely using it, it essentially renders the new security measures moot for many users, and I'm sure there's loads of malicious scammers and account hijackers already looking for new ways to exploit the system. Valve's involved in a never-ending arms race versus the 'industry' of account and item thefts that they themselves have created, and long-term they're only restricting and making trading more and more inconvenient for the average user. Couldn't they at least create a form of escrow that requires an SMS code input instead of the full (android and iphone only) Mobile Authenticator? For us users stuck with older phones or Windows phones? I know it's less secure since phone number information can be obtained more easily, but it's better than nothing if you don't have your number publicly listed (which most of us don't, I assume).
