not even going to argue but remember smart pyros mmph where you don't see them
smart pyros dont use the phlog.
smart pyros dont use the phlog.
they didn't pre-buff. they sure as hell do now. on servers I go on the super-rich elitist pyros are divided evenly between the degreaser and the phlog, and they always seem to have a pocket quick fix medic tagging along [editline]20th January 2016[/editline] having a medic in tow removes any tiny semblance of strategy the phlog has. what an awful weapon design
that is a strategy in itself though. thats how the medic works

Pyro is at his best when he's playing goalie for his team. Protecting sentry nests, denying ubercharges, that sort of thing. I don't think pyro can really keep up with classes like Soldier or Demoman when it comes to offensives, which is pretty much what the phlog is for. The phlog is a good pub stomp weapon, but it'll lose all presence against competent players.
having a medic in tow removes any tiny semblance of strategy the phlog has. what an awful weapon design
This could be said of a lot of classes being pocketed, Demoman and Heavy especially.
sandman contract the other team had a vacc pocketed phlog pyro i kept missing the balls that pyro had over 170 points where everyone else had 50 or less
sandman contract the other team had a vacc pocketed phlog pyro
[t]http://i.imgur.com/W98XKZY.jpg[/t] At least they don't look like this... thing [t]http://i.imgur.com/rCOVXtW.png[/t] Just want to check if this community server has Third Person? SCREW YOU! HAVE FIRE INSTEAD! Also, see this pit? [T]http://i.imgur.com/UjexyAR.jpg[/T] LOOKS like you can go down there right? NOPE, it's a fucking death pit and you die when you touch the tracks

NOPE, it's a fucking death pit and you die when you touch the tracks
People checking for thirdperson in every server confuses me. So few servers have it (presumably because it screws over Spies), and it's not really playable, so why even bother? Sometimes I see people join, say "!tp", then immediately leave the server when it doesn't work. Also, don't know what map that is, but that pit is pretty clearly a death pit. Part of it is bottomless and the rest clearly doesn't go anywhere.
This is my server. It's a shame you're that type of player who doesn't read the MOTD.
to be fair, after the pinion fiasco, I disabled the html motd. He probably did as well.

Phlog just got a free ticket to Rektville. Another gun in the garbage pile. Were people having a tough time to shoot a rocket or something?
Phlog just got a free ticket to Rektville. Another gun in the garbage pile. Were people having a tough time to shoot a rocket or something?
People forgot how to hit the S key.
People forgot how to kill a pyro running directly towards them.
to be fair, after the pinion fiasco, I disabled the html motd. He probably did as well.
Which is why I have a text motd that says the same
plus the real pros re-enable html motds and manually block pinion in their hosts file.
Phlog just got a free ticket to Rektville. Another gun in the garbage pile. Were people having a tough time to shoot a rocket or something?
someone forgot to realize there should shouldn't be a weapon that punishes an entire team for one player's lack of skill. people need to realize that not every single encounter with a phlog pyro is the perfect situation, and it's more complicated than "just hit the s key!" or "shoot a rocket!"
someone forgot to realize there should shouldn't be a weapon that punishes an entire team for one player's lack of skill.
By this logic, the Disguise Kit is ridiculously overpowered, because all it takes is one mildly oblivious teammate to let a Spy get behind enemy lines. Or any of the Mediguns, since all it takes is one guy failing to shoot the Medic for them to unleash Ubercharge hell on you. Also complaining that there's situations where you can't escape the Phlog is basically complaining that it's allowed to kill you sometimes. If some idiot Pyro is just running at you, or you caught him before he caught you, you have the advantage, so take advantage of that. If a Pyro catches you by surprise, then he's done his job and has earned a kill. Of course, Phlog Pyros spamming flares to get charge is a whole other story, since that enables them to get Mmph without any of the risk involved in direct combat without airblast. And of course, that's exactly what Valve didn't nerf.

The problem that's being suggested is that bad players make the enemy phlog pyro more effective, by filling the MPH. A player who can't deal with the phlog actively helps the enemy team by feeding them MPH. A player who can't deal with a medic or a disguised spy has no effect at all on the effectiveness of the enemy team. A much better comparison is with the Buff Banner, Ubersaw or Baby-Face's Blaster.

Every time I encounter a spy that defends the more annoying unlocks like the DR or RTR their argument is mostly summed up as "Spy is hard to having annoying unlocks is fine".
Every time I encounter a spy that defends the more annoying unlocks like the DR or RTR their argument is mostly summed up as "Spy is hard to having annoying unlocks is fine".
I don't think the dead ringer is that bad anymore. Given I don't really use it a lot either.
I don't think the dead ringer is that bad anymore. Given I don't really use it a lot either.
It was fine until they upped the initial damage resist up to 75%. Now the spy blocks most damage and gets a speed boost.

And by the way, Backburner can down a team just as well. It's all about getting the drop on them. You know, just like with the Phlogistinator.
It was fine until they upped the initial damage resist up to 75%. Now the spy blocks most damage and gets a speed boost.
I'm pretty sure they did that because Spy couldn't actually use it to escape certain classes with it. Its supposed to be an escape weapon, I think it does its job well enough.
I'm pretty sure they did that because Spy couldn't actually use it to escape certain classes with it. Its supposed to be an escape weapon, I think it does its job well enough.
You could escape just fine, you just had to actually try and be a little stealthy instead of "lol I'm gonna tank 4 stickies". There's a difference between an escape weapon and a get out of anything free weapon.
As I recall, the Dead Ringer was changed so tanking damage only lasts for 3 seconds instead of the previous 10. Cloak flicker comes in earlier now. Backstabs also kill the Spy regardless of how much health he had as opposed to before.
