People that are complaining about demoknight weapons being substantially worse need to actually try to put effort into using them. Tide Turner + Half-Zatoichi easymode is gone, but the changes in general make the subclass more skill-based. Half-Zatoichi's changes nerfed Booties + Tide Turner + Half-Zatoichi but actually made the Half-Zatoichi usable with stickies and grenade launchers. More notably, it's no longer just a joke weapon on Soldiers, who people seemingly forgot can equip it, too. If you're currently gauging how good demoknight is with the Tide Turner, try using the Splendid Screen or Chargin' Targe, instead. Splendid Screen + Eyelander is extremely effective now due to SS having increased charge rate, and bash damage on the Chargin' Targe (combined with the resistances and debuff removal) is pretty effective with grenade launchers. The only two weapons that really, truly suffered (outside of the specific booties+tide turner+zatoichi loadout) were the Tide Turner and Claidheamh Mor, and that's mostly because the latter lost what made them unique rather than actually being worse if you set your loadout up well. The Claymore losing it's 15HP and gaining 15% vulnerability is pretty uncalled for, definitely, but Grenade Launchers + Tide Turner + Claymore right now makes for an interesting loadout where you get full charge on melee kills while still being able to safely switch to pills when needed. Granted, I do think this weapon needs to gain back extended charges to give it more identity, but it's akin to a "safe" Half-Zatoichi like how the Eviction Notice is now a "safe" GRU. Persian Persuader gains charge at a ridiculous rate now if you constantly target ammo packs. Combine that with charge on kill and the splendid screen and you can consistently have a charge ready. Tide Turner definitely hurt the most, but being able to shake off afterburn or jarate with a charge is still pretty useful for a lightly-armored shield when those two were typically a death sentence before if you couldn't get the first strike in. Having point blank bash damage is also useful considering bash 'n slash was likely not intended.
People who seem to think the one player with a high ping is lagging the whole server. We're not in 1993 anymore, TF2 (or nearly any game these days) isn't peer-to-peer, learn basic networking you dumbasses.
stuff.
Let me list here all the maps that already have OOB spots just because of this exploit growing in popularity.
mountain lab vanguard barnblitz borneo powerhouse sawmill gravelpit freight dustbowl.... the list just goes on and on.
is 5 engies really ncessary.
Well if you're on a Valver server it's to be expected to have 3-5 Engis/Spies/Snipers/ect.
is 5 engies really ncessary.
This is not a thing that annoys me, if only because the the hilarity of it (especially on payload where there's going to be more conflict going on as BLU pushes) outweighs the fact you're inevitably going to lose. I joined a server a while ago, noticed there was a LOT of outlines around and craploads of beeping sounds, so I checked the leaderboards to see THIS [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/355021990274389972/CCAD7B172D34D54804276C8C7CA654A969A63D93/[/t] We lost, but only after they threw ubers at us every few minutes and crammed stickies through every hole they could find. It was amazing. Less so on CTF since it just stalemates things, but it's still great seeing a base with sentries filling every corridor. edit: Also, as someone who plays a lot of Engineer, having too many Engies on your team is still great if they're good at cooperating and you work together as a team
I'm so sick of fighting hordes of soldiers. There's nothing you can do to counter them if you're not a pyro. They just fly around and rain death on you and there's nothing you can do about them.
While I agree that the Zatoichi change was good, to say it was an objective upgrade to stock for demoknights doesn't really make sense. Stock was never viable for demoknights to begin with. You don't exactly see many bottleknights running around. Giving up your stickies for a shield that makes you more effective at using a melee that doesn't even have decent range doesn't make any senes. Comparing the bottle to a sword isn't really useful because they're weapons for conflicting playstyles. No one is going to seriously consider using a bottle as demoknight regardless of whether the zatoichi is an option or not. And even if the bottle was viable for demoknight, most demoknights use a grenade launcher, not the booties. The grenade launcher gives demoknight a lot more versatility than the booties, and losing your grenade launcher every time an enemy escapes or gets killed by your shield isn't trivial. The only circumstance where the zatoichi was an objective upgrade to stock was if you otherwise were going to play with the booties, a shield, and the stock bottle, which nobody with half a brain would do anyways. Regardless, making the zatoichi viable for soldiers and sticky demos was a very positive change, so I'm happy with the change.
ironically, bottleknights are now better than ever now that bash-n-slash is gone. rolling a random crit on a 2-feet bash is as if bash-n-slash never went away.
Well if you're on a Valver server it's to be expected to have 3-5 Engis/Spies/Snipers/ect.
What's wrong with 5 engineers? They defend an area so you don't have to worry about it
I have a problem when there's that many and not a single one stands in the way of the objective.
It's really only an issue when they either don't build in an area that watches the objective or when they all build in one cluster that dies to 3 stickies.
5 engineers, no working teleporter.

A sniper with 37 hours joins the server and literally never misses a headshot, kills every cloaked spy that comes within his view cone, and he just so happens to only have one person on his friends list, a person who just so happens to share a clantag with some other guy on the server. Gee, not suspicious at all.
I still support my theory that the downfall of decent community servers (where more mature admins/regulars would outright ban these sort of toxic, disrespectful jokers) has basically lead to most pubbers not giving a shit about anybody else but themselves, and having zero reservations about these sort of provocations and bindspamming. All inhibitions and sense of order and basic deceny rules are off in the random jungle that is Valve servers, aka ''Play on a totally random generic server with randomly picked masses of random strangers''. The kind of environment that almost everyone plays pub TF2 in nowadays. And a sad development that seems to stem from this is that more and more people, especially judging from posts and 'advice' I see on the likes of r/tf2, don't just mute individual people to avoid the chat spam - they completely disable chat entirely in their configs. Needless to say, this is taking things to another extreme imo, even if you don't take TF2 seriously. Instead of muting toxic/annoying users on an individual basis, loads of people just take the easy way out which results on them walling themselves off from any form of communication with their teammates. If everyone did that, there'd be no way to interact in a positive way, no way to get your suggestions or advice through to a clearly struggling/new player, just a silent, lonely incarnation of Lone Wolf Solo Fortress 2. Better put on your favorite music too while you play so there's virtually no useful sounds and Spy noises you can hear.
ever played on virginia servers?
I tend to play mostly on Stockholm servers. But there are times where I go to Luxemburg servers. I really should stop going into these. I don't go to Virginia servers, probably because I use badly made quickplay system and not browser. Are you telling me that on Virginia servers I will find more mature and cooperative players?

Actually Luxemburg and Stockholm servers can really be trash most of the time. Thanks to the lenny face spammers and salty fellows (Had one spewing insults as soon as he joined the server, calling anyone that killed him a "12 year old virgin") I hardly play there without muting everyone as soon as i join :v: Also thanks to the new update my TF2 is goddamn dying a bit each time I play.
I used to play mostly on Stockholm servers and they were full of toxic bindspammers and combo pubstompers whose sole purpose in life is to eradicate the very concept of fun and every trace of it, and turn the match into a miserable experience for everyone involved, even their own team sometimes. Atleast now that the contracts are broken for me on specifically the Stockholm servers, I am no longer dependant on that horrid place :v: (Although sadly Luxemburg is not that far off from being the same shitty place...)

Most pub soldiers rely on splash damage rather than direct hits, so if they're packing the conch/boats you can pretty much avoid anything they throw at you.

Hell is being spawn camped by three dead ringer spys. [editline]27th January 2016[/editline] I ended up just going demo knight and getting a bunch of heads from them but still annoying as fuck.
you're not gonna charge up hype mode for every single encounter
Double jump and atomizer works.
CTF, both teams are tied 1-1, match is about to end. Your team just manages to steal their intel, just mere seconds left, making it 2-1. GET FUCKED, THE OTHER TEAM WINS BECAUSE THEY HAD MORE POINTS LOL Such a stupid system
I haven't been able to pull myself to play TF2 since all the community servers I was apart of died.. I miss saying Hi to people I knew to a certain extent
I hate Hightower's stigmas. The don't cap, don't play mini, don't pass go, don't play heavy, don't collect 200$... Also I wish like almost all valve servers that ran PLR in my nice ping level wouldn't be Hightower, and then when I find one that isn't hightower people automatically vote for hightower.

Retry in console. If you're so bent out of shape, go to a dedicated deathmatch server.
The worst thing in TF2 is when half of your team is just a group of twelve year old COD kids screeching over the mic trying to find the sprint key...
