I also couldn't do the Buff Banner on the soldier's back, because TFMV doesn't render it, but instead renders the trumpet in Soldier's hand, which is annoying.

Just for future reference, when someone asks to see the "medi-mask" they mean the respirator, not the Physician's. Understandable mix-up since the Physician's is called "medic-mask" in TFMV.
