If you're requesting just hat and misc-combo, I suggest you use itemtest. After the big update that recently came, you can now use paint and unusual effects, but unfortunality you can't use second misc.
Also itemtest is simple to use.

The itemtest ui might be easy to use, but like you said, it only works properly with up to 1 misc and (in my case at least) it breaks after 1 attempt and then miscs/hats won't load anymore until you restart. It really is easier to use HLMV paired with TFMV once you got it set up, but I can't use HLMV anymore for some reason so I have to resort to posting here. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who had HLMV break too.
Could I see how classy this clipping is?

Well in my case you don't have to restart. Still, it's an option if you want to see something with 1 hat + misc. It will be very useful when Valve decides to patch it completely. Still, I think it's easy to see something you want without posting it here and waiting, or using VERY complicated instructions (IMO) and HLMV + TFMV.
