The VMT for most items has to be edited with the $color2 line in order to actually show paint:

Can't find a way to set the steam path. I mean, I select the right folder but seems the program doesn't find it :/

Did you try to click "browse" instead of "detect"? if you still the issue please PM so I can fix that, not everyone has their steam install.

Unfortunately I haven't quite figured out yet how to get all the real model paths for [I]each class[/I] of the all class items, so that's why some are missing or some model paths are incorrect (because the tool tries to guess them).

If you know the model path you can define it manually by giving the path and clicking "Add":

Use the tool "GCFScape" to browse the TF2 files and see all the all class models.

Guys, the tool doesn't paint items, the tool edits the model settings in windows registry to easily add model attachments.

By default in HLMV paints don't work (there are not paint settings either in the HLMV model settings), you have to extract the materials to the "tf" directory and edit them to force the paint to work in HLMV.
