I like it! Although, can someone guide me how to make the killfeed a bit bigger?
There's an entry in the customizing file that goes over how to increase spacing, just adjust the lineheight variable instead of linespacing.

Well it's gonna take a lot to get me away from PVHUD. The good ol' classic custom HUD that used to be so popular... Sadly, I won't be switching to this HUD. Here's my review on it: Note that since you updated the HUD recently, the ammo isn't that hard to read anymore. Though for a class like soldier, sometimes it is. But I guess it's not that much of an issue. So when ever I mention ammo readability in this, it doesn't exactly apply anymore. Pros: 1. I don't mind the size of the killfeed. Really, the only kills you honestly care about are your own and despite the font being small, it does highlight your own kills. I don't need to have everyone else's kills shoved in my face, so size of killfeed is good 2. I don't mind the chatbox up top. It does feel weird but easy to adjust to and makes sense with the rest of the HUD. It also isn't distracting which I found the default chat to be. 3. I like the uber percentage underneath the crosshair of the medigun. Really useful and I don't have to drag my eyes over the screen to check the bar or percentage. So I can keep my eyes on the battlefield and uber quite easily. I really like this. 4. I really like the loadout menu and I like the main menus layout. 5. I like the keyboard functions for the inventory menu - Q=back, A and D to change pages. This is awesome. Cons: 1. THE FONT. Sorry but the font is absolutely annoying, it's the biggest issue I have with this. It's not the size of the font or anything like that. It's the readability. I can't read it because it's either too faint or isn't outlined (or both) that I can't manage to read it at all if I'm in a light area, since the font just disappears. So I can't see my HP, ammo, food bar, uber etc... It's also very hard to read killcam text. When it tells you who killed you. 2. I don't like the class indicator having the character viewed from the side. Might be a personal thing, but I just don't like it. I like to see my character from the front. Maybe you did this because if you play with viewmodels off, it may be easier to check what weapon your holding? If so, I can understand, but I just don't like it, personally. 3. I would like to see the enemy weapon stats in killcam. May be a personal preference again, but I would just like to see it. 4. I guess this is font related. But the text saying "Food" for heavy or "Jar" and "Ball" for scout shouldn't be written in such highlighted coloured text. Like I said, there's a lot of light areas on maps and trying to read that in the light areas burns my eyes. It's like trying to read yellow text on a whiteboard. Improvements: 1. Maybe add an outline on the font so it doesn't disappear over certain areas. When you play as engi, I like the metal counter written small and having a background. It has a background so it's easy to read and it's small so it's no distracting. Why not try this for ammo and health too? Even if the text doesn't "disappear" it's just plain hard to read when you're standing in lighter areas for example. Like I said, what about the engi ammo counter used for ammo and health overall? If not that, maybe just add a transparent background for HP and ammo. 2. Maybe add an option to change your character class indicator to face the front (if it's not too much trouble). 3. If it's not too much trouble, could we get different backgrounds for the main menu? Many custom HUDs just stick to one background. Sounds silly, but if it's not a hassle it would be cool. Though this really isn't necessary, it's more of an eye pleasing thing. Overall: I like the direction you were trying to take, simple but an informative HUD. I like the chat box, kill feed etc... But the main problem is readability for a lot of the text. Not just for health, but for killcam text, "Food" - "Jar" - "Ball" text and objective text such as "Enemy dropped intel". These texts are very hard to read, due to colouring, faintness, no outline/background. Due to the text being hard to read and multiple light colours, the HUD comes across as somewhat messy. It's the readability of the gameplay HUD font that brought it down a few notches for me. Like I said, nothing to do with the style of the font, size or spacing. It's just hard to read overall. Personally, if the gameplay HUD gets tidied up a bit, I'd be more than happy to make the switch to this HUD.
Not gonna quote it, but wow thanks a bunch for the review torn! I totally understand about the fonts thing. The health and ammo is ridiculous because the font I was using on my mac worked perfectly but would not work for anyone running windows so I had to ditch that font and find something at least similar to it in the meantime. As for the rest of the HUD I wanted to keep everything small and tidy, guess it just didn't work out that way for you. I'll take a look at some of the things you mentioned and try to clean them up a bit. Do you just suggest an outline? I've found those to be quite pixelated and removed all the outlines on every font just because of how dirty it looks. I'll try to think of some other alternative for that. You were right in your assumption that the class icons help me see what weapon I use, plus I just like the orientation (they were made by a guy named trog on tf.tv). I'll see about adding a forward-facing option. The main menus is no problem! I have a whole pack I could use in its stead with about 6 images to cycle through. Take a look.

generic minimalistic hud #340935258293589 this time with a new font
generic minimalistic hud #340935258293589 this time with a new font
So, Snowshoe, God of the HUD's, Ruler of the Unique, and King of Counting, what may ye suggest?
generic minimalistic hud #340935258293589 this time with a new font
There's kind of a reason why huds are minimalistic, I'd rather focus on what is going on around me than flashy looks.
Figured I'd see how well this HUD works in Linux. I'm using the Mac version (though I had to rename the folder and VPK to lowercase - Valve bug). Sorry about my net_graph, I was too lazy to shuffle that around. Sorry also for low graphics quality, my computer is a toaster. The first thing I noticed was that fonts don't seem to be unreadable at all, it looks like they render fine (even if positioned a bit lower than they should be). [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/903261352789555918/C4D1016DC92DF0B0CBA44A59DB8A9E658D37CFCE/[/t] Of course, it also seems like the fonts aren't rendering the way you originally intended either, as the Auto and Spectate strings don't seem to have enough room in their boxes. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/903261352789559116/EC7B7A389C92C73E171A9F1CFF3254476BFB818A/[/t] [t]http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/903261352789566387/9E36DDCD613051979E7BFB9E0E587121D70C2FE5/[/t] This event log in the lower right here is actually a pretty neat idea, I've never seen another HUD implement that. There was no tooltip explaining them. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/903261352789567819/04C4A2C362EBA3E906323D8E6F02AE595556CBAA/[/t] I like these killnotices. The star and heart icons on the menu are explained in the included "Recommended Options" text file. I unfortunately do not have a Linux machine, or something I can use to run Linux, so I can't really fix the centering errors. You may want to try the windows version, though that will have a different health and ammo font since the normal font won't work on windows for some reason.
Thanks. I was just wondering if you coud make the kill feed bigger and the chat at the bottom?
That's addressed in the customizing file.
I don't get how moving info to the center where all of the important action is happening helps with that
So you don't have to move your face so far.
right but I feel like it would block more stuff
right but I feel like it would block more stuff
It's still quite a ways away from your crosshair and it's not like it's blocking a whole lot. Either way your HUD would be blocking some stuff. I find e.v.e. HUD to be cluttery and big, but that's just me.

Is it possible you could make a version of which the in-game HUD isn't in the center of the screen? I would prefer to have the HP, ammo counters and abilities and stuff like that in the corners, so it doesn't obstruct my view as much. Other than that, this HUD is shaping up very nicely. Keep it up.

While I don't actually use your HUD, because I really like the one I'm using/have poured a lot of time into editing things to be very specific ways, I do like it. Things that I do really like about yours are the backgrounds for health/events (the red for low on the numbers, the one for full Uber, etc.). Does it go green, or another color, when overhealed? That'd be good to include for a screenshot. The team and class select menus are very nice looking as is the main menu. It's reminiscent of other HUDs, but I don't think that's a bad thing. There's not a whole lot that can be done with minimal HUDs short of font changes without being too gimmicky. The most different and minimal HUD I can think of is BXHUD. What I'm trying to say is that I like the HUD you've made and I think you did a good job. Other things I like: How thin the meters are Chat in the top left Where the Engie building statuses are (mine are top left, which the chat does overlap with, but that's okay) The main thing I don't like about the HUD, from what I can tell, is how 4s look in that font, but that's not the biggest deal and is a personal preference. I also think a few of the things are really oddly small on it, but that's just looking at the screencaps. What I mean is how small the timeleft things look at the top of the screen for whatever mode. Something else I don't like, which I also said that I do like, is how thin the meters are. I say that only because personally I'd like them thicker, which I know is easy to change, but how thin they are does look nicely clean. I did take the 3D character model thing from yours and put it in mine, because I like it more than the standard one and like that it's basically the yaHUD one without the weird little backdrop. That makes it look a bit cleaner. If you were curious, I use an older version of KNHUD with the older font he used back around April (Solomon Normal instead of Maven Pro) along with a multitude of other changes and additions I've thrown in.
Man the fact you're cool with all the hater posts leads me to believe you're a cool guy willing to make improvements time to use the hud
