Came up with a nice design for rank images on our forums Obviously they look kinda bad on a white background, but with the forums current theme, they look quite nice. The image below is a realistic mockup of what multiple ranks will look like on the forum once I redo the coding side of things on the forums to add multiple ranks in: I'd like to do two columns, but with that "postprofile" bit screencapped above shrinking based on your monitor resolution, it would look awkward. One column is best. Believe me, I tested out two columns. Things get messy. As for ranks based on dev list labels, I've shrunk things down to this: [t]http://puu.sh/h9rLJ/01f358f611.png[/t] Artist consists of texturers, modellers, GUI makes, conceptual artists, etc. This way we don't end up with 30 different forum ranks, thus keeping the amount of ranks low. With PHPBB "groups" having a "group leader" option, that will allow me to set the group leader of "Artists" to the "Art Lead" ranked person, etc, etc. You get the idea. The Developer rank is given to anyone on the dev team. This allows for anyone in the Developer group to view the super secret subforum just for devs. From there, additional ranks are granted based on what each person does (so manual rank handing-out will be necessary). Everything branches out from "Developer".
A tad confusing, But pretty cool. :P
Also, one more thing, I'd really like to contribute to this mod, but my skills are extremely limited. My professional life is rather busy and I'm only a semi-decent map maker. My only real skill is writing. I think. Seriously though, I'd like to help you guys out somehow.
Perhaps design/concept?
I can't draw. Granted, I used to all the time when I was a kid, but now, its been so long I've lost all my skill.
I can't draw. Granted, I used to all the time when I was a kid, but now, its been so long I've lost all my skill.
Writting voice lines then ?
Do you? Why don't you guys use the leaked 2008 source code and develop your own sourcemod. It'll give you more flexibility to do your own thing. A mod of a mod that's not even finished just seems silly.
Well, I would like to base this mod off the original leaked source code, but the problem is that it's on Source 2007 and, as you know, HL2 on Source 2007 is the most glitchy version of HL2 to date. Daniel moved the old TF2 to Source 2013 and fixed quite a few bugs caused by the transition.
Writting voice lines then ?
If at all, I'd love to help write voice lines and propose character designs. I'm no good at drawing but I'm a good writer.
It's out guys.
Writting voice lines then ?
I could give that a shot. What do you need?
It's out guys.
Now THIS is what he supposed to make for the first time.
I could give that a shot. What do you need?
We probably need voice lines for the Mercenary & Civilian atm.
We probably need voice lines for the Mercenary & Civilian atm.
I'll do my best! From what I can tell the Civillian is British and has a somewhat cowardly personality to him, but is also a gentleman. The mercenary is, as far as I can tell, more gruff and militaristic. Is there anything else I need to know about their personalities?
We probably need voice lines for the Mercenary & Civilian atm.
I'll see if I can get some stuff drafted out as well. We're doing voice commands and such, correct? Enjoys killing and all of that.
Welp. Yesterday we were talking about a medic shotgun. I thought I could help and got right into it. Firstly, I theorized that the shotgun should not replace the syringe gun. Instead, it should act as a new primary weapon: [t]http://imgur.com/X4z2xNu[/t] The shotgun shown, of course, is just a placeholder for the newer medic specific one. I quickly sketched up some designs and got to work... My upload speed is terrible however, so please bear with me... :P

Now you've got 2 ranged weapons for the Medic, which is not necessary. The primary for Medic was never intended as an offensive weapon, more like something you'd use to ward off anyone happening to attack you when you're healing. That's just how I see it though.

The syringe gun should have some form of misc effect, while the main shotgun is weaker than normal but a tad more accurate.

He is supposed to rely on the help of others to defend him, using his weapons only as a last resort if all else fails. That is why he is a support class as well.
Here we go! Probably needs a simpler name though... :P [t]http://imgur.com/YR12T0U[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/S9gex4p[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/tS6x0bW[/t] Haha! Dunno, but some people agree.

The more pistol like first design is better, though it could use more curves,a more vibrant color scheme and no second barrel. Keeping with the theme of Medic's custom-built weaponry, the shotgun could be air-powered. This would explain the inaccuracy or possible higher damage falloff. If it was more accurate, then it would need a longer barrel than the default shotgun.
In my opinion, the weapon looks too futuristic and does not fit for the tf2 classic style at all.
That could be just the odd color scheme. Gray, black and red is not really vibrant. Plus,it looking like the Quake 2 Pistol might add to that if you played that game recently enough to remember it.

The shape is close, and the colours are spot-on. Lol :P Blame Valve's colour choices. XD
Ah, I was about to reply to this post and say "Why not just use the emblem pack?"
Ah, yeah, they are from the Emblem pack. I've done GRN and YLW versions on the previous page. I'm actually planning on doing them for all the emblems in the pack, plus all the custom ones I've been working on. This TF2C project's given me motivation to finally finish them. Speaking of emblems, I've got this Sapper token emblem I got from Gamebanana, but I'm having trouble tracking down who made it originally.
Anyone feel free to tinker btw, :D
wait will the team be ok if this mod will be a another game altogether? also downloading it now has a crap tonne of files to download.
wait will the team be ok if this mod will be a another game altogether? also downloading it now has a crap tonne of files to download.
It might happen sometime, but as for now, and likely for a long time, it will be an overhaul.

Correct me if i am wrong, but Mercenary doesn't have physic ragdoll yet, right? Well, not in game at least. (Just making sure, in case if i forgot something)
The problem with the second design in my opinion is that it looks too bulky for a shotgun which is weaker than the default and can fit less shells in.
Yes, but it's quite short, the bulkiness in a gun doesn't always add to power you know... There was this huge robust sniper rifle I saw recently. Was absolutely intimidating but it was in reality weaker. The better thing about it was it was more accurate...
