Don't get me wrong, the logos for team PLM look AWESOME, but I'm still with team YLW staying. When I first heard this from a friend, I thought it was a 5th team. I do respect decisions, but I personally think it seems kinda off without yellow, as that was one of the teams in past TF games.

I personally don't intend for any of the assets Im involved wtih to be exclusive to tf2c, so people could use him for whatever (non-profit stuff) they'd like outside of it
all the art assets are okay to use outside the game
Imo, Purple looks hella lot better than Yellow, mainly because Yellow's nature makes Cream Spirit hard to see on them, and as a result it kinda loses that uniformity that the other 3 teams have.
Besides, in all honesty, the YLW Spy is kinda ugly.

Personally my only reasoning for wanting purple instead of yellow is due to how the colour pallet is used in tf2. I understand the argument that the older games had blue, red, green and yellow as the 4 team colours, but those player models didn't incorporate yellow into their player models apart from the engines helmet, instead, black was used. Yellow is used for almost all the tf2 classes in some way or form. Scouts headset, soldier, demo, and pyros grenades, and even heavies bullets. Not to mention each of the emblems all the classes have (apart from the spy). Even though the spy doesn't have this problem, he had a totally different one, where yellow just looks bad on his attire.
All this, and not even mentioning the possible blend with other map surroundings, makes me feel that I'm willing to give up tradition and change it to purple to clear all these problems aside.

I've tried writing a couple posts so far, but didn't like the outcome. Looking back, checking official places and generally thinking out what I want to say, here goes:
1. There is no "art team" which you refer to. The art lead is OneFourth, who has not posted his clear opinion so far. The only people related to art are the texture artists and concept artists (the latter of which has more weight).
2. The overwhelming vote for yellow in public opinion shows that the [I]very[/I] popular opinion is to keep yellow. However, people with more of a knack for art do have a more weighty opinion.
I think we should either have a vote between people qualified for leading the visual design of this mod and/or have a discussion thread on the forums.

there actually very much is an internal art team. i am waiting to see where purple goes, i have no issue with the concept of changing the color and I agree with the criticisms posted about the yellow design
I hate to keep stirring up the purple drama, but fwiw I think that purple looks much too close to blue
If you want purple, reskin a class and see if it looks good in comparison to RED, BLU, GRN, and YLW. If it looks better, then there's a discussion to be had, but all this speculation about whether or not it might hypothetically look good is completely pointless.

I'm not a dev, but I can tell you everything in that post seems like an awesome idea.

Am I the only one who noticed "Team" is spelled "Theam" on the strawpoll?

ok, but heres the thing on the whole Purple and Yellow thing
We already established that Yellow team will have to have its colour HEAVILY worked on so they can work with the enviroment (then again why just kill off yellow for Orange as Yellow and Orange are interchangeable colours used also in FPS games time to time)
So far it seems its heavily on "Holding Tradition" for why Yellow need to stay around.
A friend have told me that often time Yellow is hit with a secondary colour to make it stand out. Yellow on its own tend to blend in unless a secondary darker colour is used to make it stand out (hence in some games the team that is in yellow tend to have dark browns or even black to help the yellow stand out)
also the reason why the classic colour choices are Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow is cause its a tetrad set up

as long as the yellow team gets fixed up, as its currently the team thats constantly getting fixed up cause of its colours. Either or its up to the dev team itself to pick

We're not changing it to purple [b]as far as I know[/b]. I mean, I was at work all day yesterday (I'm a traffic controller for a paving company so I get paid to stand around at the jobsite and use hand gestures to direct local traffic safely through the jobsite :v:) so I missed out on any and all conversation in the Slack chat, but I did inform Daniel of the whole "change yellow to purple" thing.

I think our game plan is to keep the color yellow. Daniel asked in the Slack chat the other day what all this color changing discussion was about. Purple makes literally no sense, as yellow was used in TFC.
Let's just say I think he doesn't want to change it to purple. I explained the whole situation to him. I forget the exact comments he used, but I'm pretty sure it was along the lines of a "what the fuck", then I do remember he said "hurf durf, green and purple", which sparked my memory of that song by Kritkal that parodies Wiz Khalifa's Black and Yellow.
but wasnt in TFC the person on Yellow was always the VIP? not actually a whole team as that game mode consisted of 3 teams?
or was it the team being yellow while the VIP is a different colour?

Looks good to me. Honestly, I think that if we are going to change YLW it should be purple/violet/pinkish. However, if we don't change YLW, we could still satiate the complaints about YLW blending into the desert by simply replacing YLW with Purple on desert maps and allow mapmakers choose which team is which.
It will most likely be hard to code, but I think it's a great compromise and satisfies both sides.
I wonder what happened with the progress on coding the Mercenary and VIP gamemodes.

Or simply just make 4-team maps be in setting where the color of the environment doesn't cause any issues. It's simply poor map design if it obscures core gameplay functions like team readability.
but like mentioned, purple would not have these issues in the first place...
