This is wonderful. Triggering the wounds based on the damage type that put the player below the threshold should be easily doable, and all damage from what I can recall is either instantaneous enough to not worry about animating the process or obfuscated by particles such as flames.
This does bring up something that I'm not sure has been considered. Are there any plans to program melee damage as it's on type? Right now, melee hits are considered bullet damage, right?
Now we need a slightly darker green for GRN team.
To me the team seems a bit too bright, and all the other teams, especially the new colour for YLW team, have that "Metallic" feeling to their colours,
Though that could just be me.
I like the new yellow colour, but only way to fully test it is to see it in play in different environments.

This, in itself, definitely makes up for the current lack of damage indicators. It's basically the exact same system as the one sentries use, which is wonderful.

Yellow is here to stay.
I do not see you on the dev list. I'd like you to not make those kinds of asumptions
Although yellow will most likely stay, it's not up to you to decide.
I know this sounds harash and power trippy on my side, but it's true

But it has already been decided?

By you?
But it has already been decided?
True, it seems its decided only cause again "yellow have always been a team colour choice"
Which we'll just be back to the whole thing of Yellow team constantly getting its colours tweaked cause of TF2's enviroments to which we need to make the yellow pop as a team colour instead of being a blending colour unless its dark in colour, Bright in colour or dun away with and pushed further towards orange.
sitting to think on it...I can see why most games hardly go 4 teams, you can do 3 team things easily as thats RGB, but when you include a 4th its often yellow range colour.
I'm only worried about how yellow will be in the environment cause I have played VSH on an arctic map...where the hale is the Easter Bunny Demo. The white suit tends to disappear into the environment
Looks good to me. Honestly, I think that if we are going to change YLW it should be purple/violet/pinkish. However, if we don't change YLW, we could still satiate the complaints about YLW blending into the desert by simply replacing YLW with Purple on desert maps and allow mapmakers choose which team is which.
It will most likely be hard to code, but I think it's a great compromise and satisfies both sides.
i said that in one of my post but since im not a dev or anything that seems kinda hard XD (i literally have little to no developer experience)

well if it is turning orange just re-name it orng team XD
why not to use both yellow and purple teams, to be chosen randomly upon loading new match, as a senceless "freature"?
allthough i would like to see purple team begin exlusive used in new gamemodes, mvm perhabs?
Right now, melee hits are considered bullet damage, right?
Yeah, damage from TF2 melees has DMG_BULLET and DMG_CLUB flags. From what I can tell, Valve subsequently removed bullet damage type from melees.

So i tried the concept in game.
Does not look too bad huh? (Of course it needs small details still, but this could work)
please stop this discussion right now, it just went back on the right track again

I'm not the art lead or anything, but I am on the dev team, and I can tell you no decision has been made as of yet. Currently, we are wanting to have proper in-game test runs of the new yellow and purple skins before we actually decide on either color.

so your gonna test to see which color is better? :D i'm up for that!
(still wish i could have mvm but yeah... there has to be sacrifices)

Something I forgot to mention when you posted your concept, be careful how much you detail the out of play area (and above play area) spots as increasing detail density makes players view that spot more rather than the actual gameplay areas. As such, I'd be careful how much of the out of bounds you detail until the playable area is detailed so you don't draw attention to the wrong parts. I also think your map is far too early in development for you to be detailing (AFAIK it hasn't even had one public test? typically 5cp maps would go through a minimum of around 15 alphas)
Also, while I was flying around warpath earlier for reasons I noticed you haven't aligned your textures at edges. If you have an adjacent face selected with the texture browser up, then alt + right click a face next to your selected one it'll line it up.

Im just trying stuff out, not trying to add them at this point... And you could pm that texture thing for me, or to the tf2c forum.
And what comes to the gameplay that is very important for this map. It's great to get some feedback for my map so we can get it look/play well.

Is it supposed to look like a TFC map, texture wise? I don't mean to say it's low quality,it's just that to me, the way it's colored it does not look like a TF2 map.

This always confuses me about sentries, I shoot them and they start smoking or even small flames erupt, yet as I retreat the engi repairs it and it still looks damaged. Makes me subconsciously unsure whether it's still damaged or not.

how does the the blu look replaced with yellow I wonder. The structures are kinda reminiscent of yellows style.

Nothing like looking at a level 3 sentry and its burning and smoking but...nope..."I'm only half health"
Suits doesn't comes in color like that.
The color of the Spy's suit may be a tad darker, but I think these images disprove the above statement.

I would love a more visual damage indicator for the buildings.
Body groups can be used to change the model that would correspond to their health, with the last stage resembling their gibs.
Particle enhancements would have a more visually appealing and noticeable fire, electric sparks darting around in random intervals, and mechanical parts would fly out depending on the machine.
Damage to the sentry would play its unused damage sounds.

I meant that suits doesn't comes in that shade of yellow for the Spy picture.
Before I head to bed (dead tired), I came home from work to these messages from Badgerpig:
𝕭𝖆𝖉𝖌𝖊𝖗𝖕𝖎𝖌: Please explain to me wahts so nonsensical about purple
𝕭𝖆𝖉𝖌𝖊𝖗𝖕𝖎𝖌: and please try to do it wihtout using subjective reasoning
𝕭𝖆𝖉𝖌𝖊𝖗𝖕𝖎𝖌: ive yet to hear any reason beyond it ebing mroe traditional
I really don't want to fire up this discussion again, as I'd much rather be curled up in my nice warm bed (it's fucking snowing outside again what the fuck) but I'll say this much:
- I never said purple was nonsensical.
- I don't think we're going to see purple as a replacement for yellow, especially since the last time I checked, Daniel laughed at the idea and he's the project lead.
- Purple is already the color of the Administrator.
- It was yellow in TFC.
- Red, blue, green and yellow are normally always used in games (like that toy soldier game for the N64 where you played as those green plastic army men and it had a map similar to our blockfortress map with four towers that were red, blue, green and yellow)
- I thought we were done with the whole purple/yellow conversation?
Yeah those are probably all subjective reasons but they're reasons nonetheless. If you have "objective reasons", feel free to post them I guess?
Also, no offence meant by this next statement Badgerpig (you're a cool dude and I like you) but your requirement of "no subjective reasons" just strikes me as odd. Almost like...uh....someone who is on the losing side of an argument but decides to pose the same question again but "this time you can't use <reasons that were previously given>"? Does that sound right? It sounded right in my head but now that I've typed it out, I don't know.
Now I'm going to get some sleep.
EDIT: Oh yes, almost forgot. To anyone trying to contact me about TF2 Classic (or anything for that matter): I now work Monday - Friday from 6:30AM until ??? (depends on when we finish our paving work for that day). I do have Sat/Sun off. I will take much longer to answer questions or get in touch with you because of this.

I agree with those points, but for the record Army Men had Grey, Tan, Green, and Blue. And I will love you all if you remake a version of the Sand Castle map from Sarge's Heroes.

Wasn't talking about the character colors, was referring to the colors used on the lego bases in the one map. RGBY is a universally used color scheme...thing...yeah
(decided to shower first, now it's bed time)

I dunno, I think the Spy would look significantly less like a well-dressed wendigo than Bowie.
Damn, the idea of Overpowered Mode and the Bouncer look really good.
