Speaking of which, can we use the Gentlemanly Pyro voicemod as a placeholder, until the voice is complete?

saw that bit about meet the mercenary and wanted to say that, whilr we certainly will be producing videos to advertise the mod we haven't had mobilization of the developer team to do "meet the xyz" yet

Ah right. Just don't want to be making something if someone else is already working on the same thing. Well if you guys want me, just throw me a message and I'll be more than happy to work on them. Would be great to help out in this project.
Is he gonna have a tongue?
None of the default TF2 models have them. Or at least the non-hwm ones don't.

I would love to help, I am just clueless when it comes to SFM.

They do actually, although it remains static in the flexes, the tongue is completely modeled. They all even have a modeled uvula in the far end of the mouth even though it would only be seen in certain flexes from certain angles under certain lighting.

The screenshots that were posted are for the HWM version of the civilian, so yes you are correct but I think you missed something there.
I would love to help, I am just clueless when it comes to SFM.
If you wanna help, tell us how. What can you do? Modelling? Mapping?
If there was to be a Civilian SFM video for the mod, it'd probably fit if he was like at a press conference or something, responding to allegations of fights and secret Spytech bases. Perhaps inter-cut with scenes of combat(or namely, his lack of combat as he runs for cover)
I think it'd be way more funny if he was addressing those allegations from where they were rumored to be, instead of it being separated from the gameplay like the old Meet the Team videos.
So as to prove that there was no fighting *rockets fly by, exploding in the background* in the area whatsoever, everyone has nothing to worry about *gunfire grows more intense the more he talks about peace*.

An example I'm thinking of is he's responding to the interviewer who's asking "what is your response to allegations of weapons testing in (whatever the escorts map name is)?" To which he replies "I can assure you, nothing remotely dangerous is happening in that area. The weapon testing claims are complete nonsense-" cuts to the sniper getting his hand cut off with the pyros axe and other violent kills, finally cutting to the civilian hiding in a corner of said map, panicking and sobbing, to which it cuts back to the interview to continue with the questions.
I swear I can't go one second looking at the model without imagining Benjamoose doing that first kinda pudgy nasally voice he demo'd.

I hate to be an "idea guy", but I came up with a plot for Meet the Mercenary. Basically, It's meant to emphasize the Mercenary's ability to use many different weapons. Let me know what you think...
We start with the title card and then go into the locker room. The original nine, except for the medic and engineer, (I’ll explain later) are getting ready for battle. They are all casual and are not rushed. The Scout, Heavy, Soldier, and Demoman are in a group chatting (The Demoman’s spot can be taken by any Merc, he’s just an extra character for the scene), while the other classes are doing their own thing. The heavy picks up Scout's pistol (which is next to the scout who is sitting on the bench) and comments that the pistol is a baby gun. The heavy attempts to aim with it, but the gun breaks in his hand. The group laughs, except for the scout. The scout is angered by the assertion and the destruction of his pistol. He gets off the bench and attempts to lift the rocket launcher to show his might. The Solider grunts with concern and confusion. The Scout tries to lift the luancher, but he cannot and the group laughs even harder, especially the solider. (This bit is to emphasize how the other classes can't use each other weapons).
Then the Mercenary walks in and everyone goes silent. He looks around, wondering why everyone is silent, and then quietly goes to his locker (or shelf). The announcer says “Mission begins in twenty seconds” (or something to signify a battle is about to begin) and the alarms go off. All the Mercs quicken their pace to get ready. Everyone is running out of the locker room. As the Soldier is about to pick up his rocket launcher, The Mercenary stops him (perhaps by grabbing his shoulder) and shows him a paper and points to the speakers (referring to the Announcer). The soldier is very shocked and sad by this (its meant to be implied that it is a notice of termination). The Mercenary then picks up the rocket launcher and runs out. The heavy is the last to leave and notices this interaction and seems worried, but continues on to the battle. The solider sadly goes back to his locker and starts packing up as the heavy runs out.
Next up is a bit of a montage from the perspective of the heavy. He keeps on noticing the mercenary taking on different roles on the battlefield and becomes more and more concerned. Some sort of montage music should play during this bit. This will not be a positive montage though, so the music would need to be something somber or not overtly positive.
First, the heavy is on 2Fort about to get backstabbed when the Spy gets headshoted by the mercenary. The mercenary waves. The heavy is thankful, but suspicious.
Second, the heavy is at Gravel Pit near Capture Point A. He notices enemies coming down the tunnel and moves up a bit to get a better shot. He spins up his mini gun, but before a shot can get out, all the enemies explode. A fast cut reveals that the mercenary is using the sticky launcher.
Third, in the distance you see the mercenary, with the flamethrower, chasing a group of scared enemies. The shot zooms out to reveal the heavy watching while eating a sandwich. He shakes his head in disappoint, drops the sandwich and walks out of the shot.
The montage ends and we return to the locker room this time much emptier then last time. Only the Heavy and Mercenary are left. There shifts have ended and they are getting ready to leave for the day. (Use the same angles as the first scene in the locker room to emphasize the difference). The heavy looks around noticing all his buddies are missing. He then looks down to Sasha (he is worried she will be taken away). He glares at the mercenary who is unaware and leaves the locker room with his fist clenched.
We now go to a dark room with a round table where all the classes are, except for the medic and engineer. They were all replaced by the mercenary and are angry (except for the Heavy who fears he will be replaced). They are all yelling and complaining about the Mercenary (it may be hard to find fitting voice lines for this part, but you can just go with incomprehensible yelling). The sniper pulls out a picture of the mercenary, says "boom headshot" and the taps on the picture twice. The group laughs, but then they hear a spin up of a mini gun. They all turn their heads to see the mercenary pointing the mini gun at them. They are all dumbfounded. A cigarette falls out of spy's agape mouth and heavy says "ahhh this is bad".
It cuts to the photo room with everyone missing except a lone Mercenary with a pile of weapons behind him. It plays the photo room music as we hear screaming and minigun fire.
In the last scene the mercenary puts down the minigun and looks over the corpses around the table. The medic and engineer walk into the room from a distance. They both chat casually to each other until they see all the dead teammates and grunt with shock. The engineer says “what in the Sam Hill", Then medic says "I don't think we brought enough body bags" (them not dying signifies that the mercenary cannot use their weapons and also adds a bit of comic relief to the end).

It sounds nice, but I like the idea of the Merc more as a "jack of all trades, master of none" thing. Maybe rather than replacing the other classes and eventually killing them, he just keeps butting in with different weapons and saving the day for the others, getting a bit of a "yeah, sure, whatever" from them response each time? Like he's the odd man out, the one guy who has no wacky incredible skill, and he's trying to prove himself to them.
I kind of thought up a more comical spin on Meet the Mercenary.
First it starts out in a relatively small well lit room. Two characters then enter the room, the Mercenary and a offscreen interviewer and they sit down on some chairs. The interviewer introduces the Mercenary and the title card shows up.
Then the interviewer asks several questions to the Mercenary and the interview becomes a tell-all as the Mercenary provides private details about all the other classes and his experiences. All while laughing to himself telling all sorts of obscene stuff and making all sorts of vivid hand gestures to aid his story to really spark up the imagery. Of course this is all expressed while the Mercenary is completely muffled by his balaclava making everything incomprehensible and only left to the audiences interpretation.

our civilian is hwm now! ( so far really unfinished, but atleast I have something to show!)
Took some screenshots from HLMV, pressing the "random" button can result like this. ( or worse )
What's left: Wrinklemap diffuse, Fixing the Corrective flexes, finishing the texture ( by adding a proper mouth color instead of the skin color ).
Also our animator Hotpocket is working on the animations, so we might have something more to show later!
Stay tunned.
Sure. I'm Uncle Machete
I wanted to try my hand out on propaganda for the Mercenary,
So this is what I came up with

I know the blood isn't that great, but I was sorta in a hurry to get it done.
I was thinking something for Meet the Merc that would emaphsize that they're all sort of incompetent and fighting each other in a huge disorganized brawl. Something like:
A group of mercs is working next to a train. They're not fighting, they're loading stuff on, with one of them ordering others around, some holding shotguns like guards, but most just carrying crates onto the train. They're basically hired grunts, so they're just doing the heavy lifting. The crates are clearly labelled Mann Co., and we can seem some weapons inside. Then we cut to the spy crouching behind some crates. He disguises as one of them, and slowly sneaks in. He follows a merc behind a corner, then stabs him off-camera and the merc falls dead into frame, with a knife in his back. The "leader" would rush over, and notice the knife. He looks around suspiciously at all of the rest of them. Then he sees one of them smoking. He runs over to the smoking merc. He gestures angrily towards the dead merc, then points angrily at the smoking merc. The smoking merc shakes his head, scared. The leader merc takes a swing at him. He misses, however, and hits the merc behind the smoking merc. That merc gets angry, and lunges at the leader merc. This knocks both of them into a group of mercs, and a brawl ensues. The smoking merc backs away, scared, and stumbles over a crate. An RPG falls out of the crate, and the smoking merc picks it up. He tries to fire at the leader merc, but one of the fighting mercs knocks into him, sending the rocket off target. The rocket hits the big stack of crates on the train. Every merc pauses fighting. In the explosion, loads of different kinds of guns rain down on the group of mercs. They look at each other, and the TF2 theme starts playing. The lunge all lunge for the guns, and the firefight begins. We see them fight for a bit, showcasing the different guns. One merc chases another with a flamethrower. Another merc is spraying people with a minigun. Another merc is perched above everyone else headshotting people with a sniper rifle. Finally, it zooms out of the firefight, and we seen the group of the original 9 mercs, with the Spy joining them as they come into frame. They're all relaxing in lawn chairs, drinking beers, laughing and cheering as they watch the generic mercs beat the crap out of each other.

I'd actually go so far as to suggest showing the mercennary as a wee bit incompetent, that's how you'll make him the odd man out, I'd even say since he looks like a generic mook, a small fry, his potential Meet the merc video would just be a bunch of them planning a huge assault of a hundred mercs against the original nine, and after hyping the confrontation up the whole video, montage of getting geared up and planning every tactical angle for the battle, we get a cut to the original mercs walking into an open area, one of them expressing their bad feeling when they suddenly hear rustling, and then we cut to an angle of a ton of the mercs jumping out of cover and pointing their guns at offscreen. Then there'd be a pause, the mercs would start getting a bit confused, until one of them asks "Where are they?" and as the title card comes up we hear the voice of one of the mercs going "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU READ THE MAP SIDEWAYS!?!?" The final cut would be of a heavy moving some leaves off from a bush and seeing a raccoon rustling the leaves.
edit- Just noticed Mort's earlier post right after posting this, so much for originality
Actually I'm now more on his idea's side, it gives a pretty good explanation for the guns and the fighting between them

The only thing I can imagine from this is that MVM trailer,
But instead there are just millions of mercenaries running out of a huge tank towards the original nine mercs.
[sp] What drugs have I been taking, [/sp]

If we had the dmx for the trailer that'd be easy to make.
And so worth it.
For when meet the civillian becomes relevant, I've been working on a script off and on for a while, with the help of some other people. Basically it's when he first meet and employ the mercs, not entirely done yet though.
