Currently, I think it takes the color from what team the player is on and uses a VTF file for the background. Also, your name in chat could change color based on what color you are. So many possibilities with the merc color variable.

The only solution I know is to make the hud flat and square.

The only solution I know is to make the hud flat and square.[/QUOTE] tint the VTF's color like you tint the merc's VTF color. you can use materials\hud\gradient_white.vtf or something and tint that if you use bgcolor/fgcolor override obviously it covers the whole thing including transparent bits. so dont do that

Aren't there some good snow textures in the live TF2? At the very least you can use them for reference.
I was thinking about converting the mtt_soldier map into DM, because it has many differences from the map it was based on, which was Granary. Like, mtt_soldier was made solely for a video. I don't really see them having taken into account any kind of balance or design because they never expected anyone to actually play on it.
For death match maps I think that instead of converting current maps into DM we should instead build at least a few from the ground up, like Suomimies map, that are more styled in the dean match venue by drawing ideas and inspiration for Quake esk games that have stayed true to the arcade style. Such as Cube 2: Sauerbraten. That's at least what I'll be basing my DM maps off of.

I wish I was [del]more active[/del] active at all but I haven't been able to.
