Looks amazing. One question though: do you think you can add in a Merc head as well?
No. I don't think I can. I suck at modeling, and all of the models are official (Valve-made), which I don't really want to edit.
http://www.hitbox.tv/Rageguy making a model
Well, I've been working on a variant of the submachine gun, tightly based upon the MP5. [t]http://i.imgur.com/OGHyI6b.png[/t] Drawing, painted over in paint.net [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZD6Cphe.png[/t] Wireframe silhouette, traced and slightly modified over an imported panel (lighting was getting stupid) [t]http://i.imgur.com/Xp5wHo8.pngp[/t] And model, side-view for silhouette comparison. Here's the p3d.in link. This is by no means finished, as I have yet to add the back sight and front charging handle. And I'm just slightly doubtful in the way I've modeled this, I wonder if using intersecting geometry is the best way to model... and some areas just don't feel right. Like I know the trigger guard needs work... and an actual trigger. The bigger issue is that I feel like the proportions aren't as fitting to the TF2 artstyle as they could be. Probably since I've been looking at MP5s for days now figuring out bit-by-bit how it works in 3d and how its proportions should look, so I'd like some criticism on how good this is.
Hey guys. The DM version of MTT_Soldier I suggested was really well received. It got these ratings. Agree x14 Informative x2 Disagree x 2 So, I did the map. It's somewhat rough-going, but what works, works well. Here's the image album. It's a heavy WIP, but It can work.
Nice, But I DO wish we could focus on Normal TF2 style AND Arena style maps for Deathmatch equally.
Any other stat suggestions? There's not that much difference between TFC Assault Cannon and TF2 Minigun, aside from the fact that the AC can't be spun down prematurely and, curiously, fires shotgun shells.
You can jump while shooting the Assualt cannon in TFC though. That should be in the stats.
I think that the heavy should be able to move faster while firing with it.
IMO the new Heavy primary should be belt fed and have the usual LMG belt-box thingamajig. Instead of having 200 rounds and no reload, it should have either 65 rounds in a box and 205 max total ammo or 100 rounds and a max of 200 total. Basically 2 or 3 reloads but generally very large clips compared to all the other weapons. Added mobility seems obvious, so less movement speed penalty when spinning up. Maybe we could draw inspiration from Brutal Doom and make it so that LMB spins up and immediately fires, firing faster as it spins up to full speed, and RMB could toggle a "spraydown" mode where it automatically spins at a much faster rate for much higher firerate but significantly more spread (obviously making a lot of noise and slowing Heavy down) Maybe it could have a damage range of 25 close up and 10 at long range. This would make it a monster at ranges between close and mid but less effective at mid range and the small clip compared to the minigun's one big 200 round one gives it less potential as a suppression weapon.

Did anyone see this? The BMS team made it. Perhaps we could use it as the crowbar skin in our mod, or as a reference. Only thing is we already have one set up, and it's a very nice one. Their crowbar is good, but so is ours. It would be additional effort for no reason if we set about using theirs.
I think it is time for TF2C to not go public, but at least have more of an online presence. People are making videos with the merc and other tf2c related material and putting it all over the place online, and most people are not aware of the underlying project that uses those things. I am aware that the team does not want TF2C to become public yet, but nobody expected it to get this much attention. We thought it would be relatively obscure until the devs got out a complete version that they were fully happy with, and then they would make it public and continue adding on to it. But this outburst has shown there is considerable public interest in the project, especially the merc, even without any real announcement or unveiling, except for VNN. If people are showing this much interest without announcements, think how many will sign on when you guys unveil the thing. I am not saying that you need to go public with it just yet, but develop more of an online presence for TF2C. /r/tf2classic needs to be updated and maintained. People should be more informed of the project, ie. on things about TF2C, someone should post "Hey! This is part of an ongoing SourceMod project, bla bla bla, you can find out more about it {here}. Note that this is in beta, so bugs and balancing issues will be present."
-snip because nostalgia isn't welcome here apparently-

Well, since everyone agreed on basing the gun more off of the HK-54. Why? I kinda liked the front sight, the magazine's curve, the funny back sight, etc... Does it just seem too modern/sleek for tf2?
we already have a model for that though, we just hadn't shown it yet because we want to make some changes to it (like adding a bullet chain) http://p3d.in/Pb5ZF sorry for not showing it earlier, I just thought it wasn't yet for it [editline]7th May 2015[/editline] this thread very clearly exceeded my expectations
Sorry for a late reply to this and hopefully it's a useful one but.. That handle on the concept is supposed to(or appears to be) the handle for the barrel(or barrels in this case?) so that you can remove it and change it out for another when it they get hot. browsing Fp came across this pic [t]http://i.imgur.com/6zLwKeX.jpg[/t] i think it would look cool in DM with a spin reload animation replacing the shot gun
-snip you fixed the image yourself- Also probably not no, especially since I don't think DM is getting any weapons exclusive to it. [sp]except maybe for my mini-wrench idea i posted earlier Optimistic x10[/sp]
DM is very likely getting exclusive weapons of some sort.
What's the status of releasing the server files necessary to host on a Linux server?
status is still bug daniel about it otherwise we're waiting still
Well piss.. I got access to an infinite amount of very well performing Linux servers thanks to my job. I was really hoping to host a few and see how well it does.
So what exactly will these DM exclusive weapons be? And how many can we expect?
So what exactly will these DM exclusive weapons be? And how many can we expect?
Currently sitting most of them haven't been decided yet, however the Assault Rifle will be DM exclusive. Though you need not worry about it for now, they will eventually be made and dealt with, and there will be at least a small handful at first, with more possibly added later on.
So what exactly will these DM exclusive weapons be? And how many can we expect?
If we followed through with this DM theme/suggestion (which imo is a great idea), we'd work on the "Railgun, Lightning gun, Plasma gun, and perhaps even the BFG." I said I might make concept art, and I sketched some things, but it was kinda hard to try to come up with anything. The geometry and modeling style from the quake series is weird, and it was hard to come up with anything that made them recognizable but also follow with the experimental spytech style.
4 Teams community playtest! Fun times.
for people who are curious about the civilian model's status: I'm really busy to study for my final exams, but I'll do my best to show something next week. Thanks to sedisocks I was able to make the wrinklemaps work. Badgerpig finished the textures as well. Also good to note: I used revzin's script and recreated entierly the hwm flexes. Hopefully I can focus on the SFM release as soon as I can, but forgive me for any delays.
This reminded me of that saw-like melee thingy in Quake 3. Would be cool to run around with a chainsaw melee weapon in tf2c too.
So me and rummy have discovered that srdcs does not like 100 tickrate 64 players :(
Was fun while it lasted. Seems people have migrated to a few other servers.
