what a manchild
So who's making the next group? I want to be in it now. I had a feeling in my gut for the longest time that he'd fuck up the group somehow so I never bothered joining. :v:
This is an announcement that I've posted in the old group (which was taken down a few minutes later by 404)
Title: Group migration
Due to the recent series of unfortunate events, we've decided to migrate to another group.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TeamFortress2ClassicTF2C
We are terribly sorry for this inconvenience, but things didn't turn out the way we expected them to.
Will the last part of the announcement possibly affect this mod in any way or do you people think valve won't care?
Will the last part of the announcement possibly affect this mod in any way or do you people think valve won't care?
Valve never really seemed to care when I was more involved with the mod (some stuff happened, okay).
TF2C will just keep going
I kinda knew this would happen from the drama.
Will the last part of the announcement possibly affect this mod in any way or do you people think valve won't care?
thye won't care most likely, as shown by missing information using leaked assets from the HL2 beta
as long as the devs won't charge for the mod, it should technically be okay

We've already emailed the following people about this mod:

frontdesk@valvesoftware.com,
gaben@valvesoftware.com,

And none of them replied.
Here's the full transcript of the email we've sent.

To whom it may concern within the Valve Corporation,
For the last few months, I and a team consisting of around 40 or so individuals with a variety of talents have been working on a mod for the source engine based on Team Fortress 2, called Team Fortress 2 Classic. For the longest while we have been developing the mod as an alternative of sorts to Team Fortress 2 based off of the vanilla gameplay and experience of the game, slowly focusing more and more on adding new additions to the game based either off of concepts introduced in the series in the past, new concepts, or any kind of mix of the two. However, we have been using leaked code of the original base game from an February 2008 build of the game to give us a much needed head start on the project, as recoding everything used in the game would be a near absolute nightmare. We were wondering if this presents a big enough problem to warrant the halting of the development of this mod, or if we are free to continue working on this project.
Originally, this mod was just supposed to be an revamped revival of the original vanilla TF2 with some small additional features. However, it has since grown to become a lot more.
If you are wondering what this mod currently contains, and/or what it could contain in the future, the following can be seen below as an example of what we are doing with this project. Additionally, Valve News Network made a decent summary video of what the mod currently includes and what it might possibly include in the future here.
The following features is what the mod currently contains:
4 team gamemode support with new Grn (Global Radio Network) and Ylw (Yard Logistics Workers) teams. Works with CP and CTF currently.
New weapons such as the Poacher’s Pride for the Sniper and the Cyclops for the Demoman.
More weapons based off of the weapons from the Beta TF2, including The Nailgun for the Scout and the Club (Fishwhacker) for the Sniper.
A new Deathmatch gamemode, featuring the Deathmatch Mercenary as can be seen on the SFM workshop. Currently a Work-in-Progress.
Several brand new maps, including popular community made ones like Furnace Creek, CP_Tidal, and CTF_Landfall.
A heavy Work-in-Progress VIP mode which will feature a brand new Civilian character with brand new voice work behind him.
Shiny new particle effects crafted by our particle artist FissionMetroid101.
Some work done by TF2 Workshop community artists, including Blaholtzen, Pie_savvy, Maxxy, SedimentarySocks, Rage, N-Cognito, and Trippy of Left 4 Dead 0.
Maps by TF2 Maps community members, including Berry, Iiboharz, Heyo, YM, Dr. Spud, Phi, as well as new maps by other members on the team.
The inclusion of TF2 TIP Skins for the player models over time.
Working flashlights, ladders, and vehicles.
New musical tracks done by our composer, MrModez.
The following features is what the mod may include in the future:
Proper VIP and Deathmatch gamemodes, both fully working with unique gameplay and maps to go with them. Perhaps including alternate variations of these gamemodes.
Power-ups and Equipment in the Deathmatch mode, as can be seen in here.
More new characters for other potential new gamemodes, such as the Janitor, Scientist, and Guard for an Espionage gamemode and an “Henchman” of sorts for a VSH-esque boss fight gamemode.
More new weapons, and more returning weapons from the TF2 Beta and possibly even TFC.
Popular gamemodes from normal TF2, such as Payload, Payload Race, King of the Hill, and Arena ported into TF2C.
More new maps for the mod, including the inclusion of maps from packs like the Construction pack and more new and original maps.
Potentially more new gamemodes after the current ones planned are finished.
Support for 4 teams in gamemodes like Payload Race, Arena, and King of the Hill.
Content updates like those done within Valve for TF2 today.
Potential short movies, like Meet the Mercenary, Meet the Civilian, and more.
Revamped tutorial videos.
Working Vehicles in gamemodes like VIP and Deathmatch. Things like Motorcycles and Limos.
New In-Game UI, including a new main menu and a new loading screen.
Potential Singleplayer and NPC support. No real plan yet, but it’s been talked about.
Overall, this mod is a very promising project, albeit using code from a leaked version of your game. We want to check with all of you, at valve, to know whether or not we can continue on this project. Hopefully this project seems promising enough to all of you to let us keep working on this project.
Sincerely,
The TF2C Team

is 404 like a 16 year old kid trapped inside the body of a 27 year old man.
I'll stop mentioning him now though so just we can move on
-Snip-
This mod has the opportunity to make something amazing, with all the new stuff being added, I really hope we can settle any issues and just make something great. Just my say.
New logo looks great, unique which is a good way to differ it from the Valve logo.
Will the last part of the announcement possibly affect this mod in any way or do you people think valve won't care?
I don't think they would, since the leaked source code is from 2008. Way, way outdated to the original game. Valve wouldn't even care about it at all, at least in my opinion.

Wait he's 27? Fuck it I don't feel pity now I'm laughing
Valve probably doesn't care.
404 already emailed the TF2 team and told them that this was illegal a long time ago actually.
And all this started because 404 disagreed with a design of a weapon.
What even happened in the first place in order for 404 to act like this?
I was informed from the group announcements flooding my feed, just got here.
Well, I guess now the forums for TF2C are 404ing.
Anyone wanna offer to host?
So what is with the forum? A new one?
[sp]I could setup a new board really quick (If desired) and maybe move it to it's own tld later.[/sp]
To be honest he has been permabanned so many times, he got so many opportunities and he keep messing it up. At this point I can't feel bad for him anymore. I'm more surprised he didn't got permabanned before with his long story of drama.
Let's just forget about it and continue with the mod please.

the cycle of him doing something really stupid one year than apologizing the next year continues on for the third time in a row. I look forward to the drawn out apology we'll be getting next year.
Sorry this had to happen to you guys. Just look on the bright side I guess and be glad this happened somewhat early on in the life span of this project. In the long term this won't mean shit. Keep at it.

I have a website that I'm just sitting on my ass with but I have no knowledge on how to put a forum on it
I still don't know why I have it but I do, so if anyone has the brains I can do it
Note to anybody who follows the Trello, it got vandalized and now has a gaping anus as the background picture. Can one of the mods fix this shit?
I thought you were better than this 404...

Eh fuck him.
The project will be better without him

Seeing the whole center makes me think this area could really benefit from a construction theme for a couple of reasons:
1) You can use scaffolding for the big crossing bridges and the corner platforms. Scaffolding is made of multiple levels allowing you to retain the lower level, upper level, and 'roof' of the big bridges. To me, scaffolding would be a good explaination for all the nesscary platforms. Its also less heavy and more conspicuous.
2) The pit makes more sense as the start of new construction (though that was much of an issue).
You can get constuction assets from here.
If everyone is getting banned then postal has to ban himself
Also, I think the reason why 404 was acting like this is because he disagreed with the design of a weapon, then you all started being super mean and douchy to him, then he tried to fight back but then you just sorta killed him and now everyone is saying he was a mean crybaby and manchild
Holy hell you guys are unprofessional
If everyone is getting banned then postal has to ban himself
i'll just unban myself and then enjoy the forum all to myself, as GOD intended
