Just played the mod
No one's playing the servers
why?
People tends to play during USA timezone. Or just wait for future map testing announcements.
Thanks
Finished the Conc SMG concept:
Sorry for bringing up the meltdown again, but how populated and vital to the mod's development were the forums that were nuked? Just wondering how much it's going to affect things.
we lost a few lists and the style guide to GRN and YLW. it certainly is a dent but we can bounce back in a few days

check your cache, it might still be somewhere in there.

If you can't find the leftover data of the style guide for GRN and YLW in the cache, here's a previous post to get back on track.
I've got a licensed copy of Xenforo (which I've no other plans for) as well as a web server to host a forum. All I really need is a decision to be made as to the domain name and for someone to register it and send me the nameserver info and I can have everything working in no time.
Just a suggestion.

stoop.
cool ideas for the smg. I think a mp5 with a forward grip and stock from the mp5 PDW and the barrel from a sp89 would be a cool idea with the waffle mag too. (Also sorry for bringing "that" up again, I just wanted to know what happened)
stoop.
YOu can tell me that, but we both know that they are in our hearts :zoid:
The Mercenary is able to use the Spy weapons???
I'd love to contribute more to this project but I just don't have the time. Maybe I can hop in later this year.
Anyway, here's the source of the vip_downtown map I started last year when we began working on the civilian project. The attackers' first area is based on the original hunted map. If anyone would like to pick it up and work on it, go ahead! The layout needs some changes, mostly another path for the civilian to escape and it should probably be widened more. Currently it is too easy to defend.
The archive also includes a lot of inspirational images of what I wanted to use in the map's styling. And make sure to check out the backup folder which holds older versions with different layout ideas (e.g. bus station or warehouse in the beginning).

Whoever decides to work on it add me on Steam to keep me updated on the progress every once in a while, thanks.

I actually mentioned your map in dev chat once, but it looks like you beat us to it
Well, it's rotting on my harddrive so sharing it is the best option.
There's also an old prototype of a warpath remake if you're interested. I still have the source files somewhere.

^Poor quality pic, not the render yet!
Some Civilian promo wip. ( Clearly unfinished, lighting needs to be tweaked, + the poses ).
I can happly say that the Civilian is about to be released really soon, but you guys have to know that I'm really busy with my final exams so there might be a delay. ( once again sorry for that. )
Atleast the facelfexes (HWM) is working perfectly, so I can't wait to hand it over to the SFM / GMOD community! ( Before asking, I'll provide a flexible / normal phy version for the gmod users, just like for the Mercenary. Also I used a new way to sculpt individually faceflexes, so all the correctives are working now! [sp] no more broken combinations unlike my old hwm models! [/sp]).
Altrought I have to fix the procedural bones on him, somehow they are broken everytime I complie the model. ( as well as the wrinklemaps too, but thanks to SediSocks I fixed it. )
Stay tunned patiently!

When I finish up 4fort I might consider taking this up if someone hasn't done so by then. Otherwise cool map.

If anybody hear has read/seen the play An Inspector Calls this is what I imagine Mr. Birling would look like
So I noticed that the Mercenary had Dota-style bodygroups for using with any cosmetics. I'm guessing that the other classes are getting updated to use this kind of system in the future.
Who wants cosmetics anyway, they're worthless. Gameplay, that's what matters.
probably small bodygroup changes just to don't make the game feel ripetitive and boring I guess

Merc is only set up that way because we intend to give him bodygroups that randomize every time you spawn, though it has been in debate whether or not you should be able to choose which you want in addition to the pre-established ability to choose color. We have no intentions of bothering with a cosmetic system of any kind outside of Merc's bodygroup system. If you want cosmetics, go play live TF2.

[s] Blasphemy! How dare you insult our almighty cosmetics! /s
But anyways, what have we progressed in since the 404 outburst?
edit: i'm stupid :downs:
Talking about the MP5, I found a good image that could help the design.

How about you actually read the thread and find out

I think it would be neat if there was some subtle and random cosmetic variety for each class. Nothing too big, just something like Scout wearing a concept-style backpack or a Heavy wearing a TFC-style do-rag and goggles, but nothing overly garish like a Spy hobbling around with clown shoes and a stack of flaming hats.
It's not necessary, but it could look nice if done correctly.

I haven't been following the Facepunch thread in a while, and I know I've said this before; but I still think it's better to wait till he's been implemented both voice and character wise before releasing an SFM version.
I'm all for open sourcing stuff. By no means am I saying it shouldn't be released. It's just after releasing him to the SFM crowd, it'd literally only take one of the better SFM animators to grab him first (which they will what with it being a unique model) and give him a voice and personality of their own, and whatever this mod wanted to write for him or craft for him is essentially second fiddle in people's minds.
First impressions are what stick with the fans of the game. The best example of that is Saxton Hale. I personally really dislike the fan made Saxton voice and find it unfitting (both accent and character), but many TF2 fans can't hear Saxton as anything else now, even if it's not what the TF2 team have in mind for him internally.
To me it makes sense to release detailed assets public when they're no longer in the development process and have solid ground of their own to stand on for what they were created for instead of releasing along the way.
Somebody's SFM interpretation of a random character that isn't widely known isn't going to have the same significance as the widely played Saxton Hale gamemode featuring an extremely well-known and likable character. Saxton Hale mod was definitely an edge case of gamemode that got really, really popular. There's no way the Civilian is going to be that popular before there's even a playable version of him.
