Team Fortress 2 Classic V2 - Deathmatch mode when?
Somebody's SFM interpretation of a random character that isn't widely known isn't going to have the same significance as the widely played Saxton Hale gamemode featuring an extremely well-known and likable character. Saxton Hale mod was definitely an edge case of gamemode that got really, really popular. There's no way the Civilian is going to be that popular before there's even a playable version of him.
Depends on the source. Which is exactly my point.
There are some YouTuber's that make SFM animations that have ridiculus amounts of subscribers and make amazing animations that have also led to them getting jobs animating for real game companies in the past.
My point is, if one of them uses it first, when we're supposed to be developing a game, fleshing out characters and such, if they decide to give him a wildly different voice or personality to what's been worked on for this mod, then that's what will stick in people's minds.
I'm not saying he'll have the same impact as Saxton Hale, but you also have to remember we're a much smaller mod. It's a LOT easier for someone making TF2 animations to reach the TF2 community as a whole than we are at this point.
WIP deathmatch map, gonna try and have a playable version before the weekend

So it seems you guys have a crisis of a dead forum.
Well, normally, this would just be a simple job of "go through Google's cache, release the ArchiveBot hounds, boom, it's in the Internet Archive". However taking a look through what appears to be the main page, this is gonna be a challenge. This is also because from what I can see, Google only saw so much. And cached it in an ugly although usable way.
I don't wish to shit up the thread so here's what I want you all to do: if you've happened to have visited pages from the forums, please dive through your browser history (provided you're not in 24/7 porn mode) and look for forum URLs. Threads, forum sections, user pages, anything and everything counts (except maybe the login/logout/registration pages).
Put any you find in some form of a list, put that list on Pastebin/GitHub's Gist/some other paste service, and please private message me said list.
Because of the complexity and also somewhat time-sensitivity of the task, I'll be using a tool which I'll prefer to keep somewhat secret. However, it does have .warc support which means that it'll be compatible with the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.
If say you provide me with LOADS of URLs, I may supply you with a tool to use to grab some not-ugly versions. That'll all be done through PMs though so yeah.
If there's anything else that somehow died along with the forums and you want me to look into saving, also please PM me with relevant links.

Will this be able to retrieve content from hidden/private boards? (I'm assuming not?)
Will this be able to retrieve content from hidden/private boards? (I'm assuming not?)
Chances are if there were private forums then those won't likely be able to be grabbed as no other public member would have been able to see them.
To the people that have sent in URL sets already: thanks. I'll go through them later tonight. Keep them coming...
Think we could try to get dynamic lighting implemented into TF2C? AFAIK Biohazard has a 2013 version of it
Example of dynamic lighting (tf2 map in cs:go) With softer shadows it could look great.

how hard is the hit on FPS, though?

Last I brought that up I was told by Daniel to wait for source 2. So I don't think this is happening.
Well, it won't be a 2007 game anymore.
i dont think we've got access to that part of the engine, do we?
i dont think we've got access to that part of the engine, do we?
Not CSGO's, but there are other implementations out there.

I've got most, if not all of the map discussion board and will get those to you if don't already have them along with some other parts of site I visited. I also should have the TF2C blog that no one visited.
if someone could retrieve the proposed weapon that would be great.
Specifically "The Bouncer" as I was dumb enough not to create a mirror.
did furthur writing of how wounds would work check it out
Hey guys, I've got two suggestion for the mod.
The first one is for The Poacher's Pride's, Cyclops and the Fishwhacker their names. While their names are great, they sound a bit like the names of unlockable weapons, and name wise don't really feel like they're part of the "stock" weapon set. I really don't wanna slash the names, but it just looks a bit out of place when you list them among other weapon names, like; Rocket Launcher, SMG, Revolver, The Poacher's Pride, Grenade Launcher, Flamethrower. You kinda get what I mean?
I'd suggest naming them similar to the stock weapons, like the Tranquilizer Gun and Overhealer already are. Names that are descriptive and simple should makes them feel more part of the entire set and also should tell new players what kind of weapon that is by only needing to read their name and looking at the icon. For example, the modified MAT-49 in TF2 isn't also called like that, but just simply called the SMG, making it clear what it is.
You could name The Poacher's Pride a "Double Barreled Rifle" for example, the Cyclops "One Barreled Grenade Launcher" (Probably something shorter), etc. Certain upcoming weapons like the "Lead Pipe" for the Heavy, the "Syringe" for the Medic, and the "Dynamite Pack" for the Demoman have already clear and descriptive names that are named in this fashion.
Second suggestion, you shoud totally leave in the commentary mode (if you were planning to remove that at all). Much later in the development stage, you could perhaps record your own commentary for in there about certain TF2C exclusive gamemodes, classes, maps, etc, and why they're designed like that. Would be interesting to have TF2C team's commentary alongside Valve's one.
Anyway, my two cents. Also, my 2kth post!
Double Barreled Rifle isn't wrong or anything, but I think Elephant Gun sounds catchier. Also, I'm a fan of calling the Cyclops a Grenade Rifle; I'm not 100% sure it is one, but the name works. Double Medigun might be nice for the Overhealer too, especially since it isn't quite the same as the Valve beta Overhealer.

Thoughts and discussions like this about direction and consistency interest me greatly. I completely agree.
Double Medigun might be nice for the Overhealer too, especially since it isn't quite the same as the Valve beta Overhealer.
I'd say put a little bit more thought into it. Similar to the Medigun you could name it after something that might sound real. Like renaming the Overhealer something along the lines of the Helix gun, since it's going to have those neat looking particles.
I think names such as fishwhacker and overhealer doesn't need to be changed.
Well, for the Fishwacker it would be easier to think about if we would know (atleast I, as I really don't) what real weapon it is based on.
it's a club
wooden club if you want to get specific
I'm sure there's some obscure name for that specific shape of club, a clubus phallicius or whatever, but it can easily just be called the Club. It's based on the club that the Sniper was originally going to have, after all.

Fish Whackers are actually real tools used for fishing.

Question: I've seen several pics of centered viewmodel's ala The Original. How's that done?
Didn't we have access to possibly a Alien Swarm build through Sam?
Also don't mention CSGO. You will 100% trigger me with how much that build of Source engine is THE fucking worst.
What's so bad about the CSGO version of source? I'm honestly wondering since I haven't noticed anything too bad about it compared to other engines
What about the Single Shot for the Cyclops, or is that still too unlockable-y?
None of the items really need name changes, its kinda redundant to give them other names than what they already have, because they are well established names that generally everyone seems to like. There was even a huge fight way back when other devs changed the Cyclops's name to "Heavy Ordnance" because nobody wanted the name to change.
Anywho, content:

Designs for medic's shotgun model that will eventually replace the stock shotgun model he is currently using. Hopefully the new model will also come alongside its more balanced stats, however those are still in debate among the devs.

You should really change it up to use the Medic shotgun animations we have rather than the syringe gun animations. We already have them functioning, and the more weapons with unique animations the merrier.

I don't like that color scheme
