Don't want to continue talking about the 404 but he made an announcement in previous TF2C Steam Group.

If we could fill in RGB values or see them next to the sliders would be perfect.
As mentioned before, awesome work!

I've begun doing some art work on dm_wiseau. I think I may need some new art assets, so there will probably be a bit of time til the next update on this map comes along.

TF2C current developments.
As you may or may not have noticed but in the last week there has been quite the commotion surrounding the TF2C Project. We had a dispute with one of our developers which led us to take action by removing him from the team. There are numerous stories thrown about at this point, and we as a team would like to set our story straight.
404, our server host and site manager, had the unfortunate mishap of being permanently banned from Facepunch our main community. This led 404 to vent and misbehave in our private channels, much to our dismay. We saw his actions of “jokingly” putting our sites down as valid threats and conveying that he did not want to be involved anymore.
We saw it fit to expunge him from our services and discontinue his involvement within the project, due to conflicting ethics and no change in behaviour.
These events have caused us the following:
- We moved to a new steam group due to not having full ownership of the previous group
- Our websites and forums got taken down and were unable to access the data.
We have kindly been offered several options, but it will take time before the general public will see us in good health with a beautiful site and nifty forum.
We like to assure you that the project is still in great shape despite taking a blow.

The map looks like it'd really benefit from some less flat lighting. Consider getting the TF2 lighting library and adding some light props on the ceilings (point_spotlights on them also look very nice)
Is it possible to run TF2C on a dedicated server without having to login to a steam account and launching the game from the library? I'd prefer to admin a server from the console and not the game engine if possible. I'm assuming this is the case as all instructions about running a TF2C server imply that you have to fire the game up from the Steam Library like some plebeian. Can someone help clarify this?

Thanks for the help! I think I've got it going now :) Hopefully I'll be up and running here in the next 10 minutes! Can't wait to give this a try.
Hey guys and girls,
I have followed this thread quite a bit while I was unable to post, and I am amased. I played TF2C a couple of times and I must say it's coming along great so far (excuse the lack of proper feedback/ideas, like I said, I haven't played THAT much).
Now here is a question I have for you right away regarding weapons being taken from live TF2 (or a certain one, rather): can you get the Gunslinger into the game with changed stats/a different approach? I like having the additional 25HP and running around at the frontlines dealing damage myself, but I HATE Minisentries. I hate fighting them and I hate using them as well as I dislike using normal Sentries. I play Engineer to play and not to turtle.
Would it be possible to add something like the Gunslinger? Remove Mini-Sentries entirely if you like or change them heavily, I don't mind. It's just I find stock Engineer plain boring and unappealing.
Ok, I've installed this thing on my Windows Server and have applied the patch and all is good. That is until I try and run the batch file to start the server. The console box opens for a split second then disappears. When trying to run srcds.exe by itself it gives an error that "scripts\gameinfo.txt missing FileSystem key." and will not start. I followed the installation instructions verbatim so I'm not sure what the issue is.
Throw this into a shortcut instead
srcds.exe -game tf2classic -port 27015 -console -tickrate 128 -maxplayers 24 +map ctf_2fort
make sure that tf2classic IS in the source dedicated 2013 directory

I see exactly what I did wrong here now that you mentioned the tf2classic directory. It appears I got confused about how to copy that over into the steam directory (I just overwrote the files instead of dragging the tf2classic folder INTO the right location). If you guys don't mind (and while I'm in the process of doing this) I'll see if I can dumb the instructions down so as to reduce confusion. I'm bored anyway lol
Hey, if we still don't have a proper forum, I could possibly make a shanty Zetaboards site for the time being and possibly spruce it up with proper images/themes/icons etc. and even make some of the devs of TF2C into mods/admins.
I mean, if you really want it, I understand if you want to use a better medium for a forum, that's completely fine.
It feels good to be back.
Love the progress so far, keep up the good work.
Hey guys, having a bit of trouble installing on my client now. I've followed all instructions below, but after restarting Steam I do not see TF2C listed anywhere in the library.
1. Download the client
2. Once downloaded, extract everything to your "steamapps/sourcemods" directory. You should now have "steamapps/sourcemods/tf2classic"
3. Go to the 'Tools' section in your Steam client
4. Install Source SDK 2013 Base Multiplayer
5. After it's installed, right click it and select Properties, then click the Betas tab and choose "Upcoming".
6. Close the properties and it should begin updating.
7. Once it has finished updating, restart Steam
8. Check your games. You should see "Team Fortress 2 Classic" has appeared on your games library.
Where is your steam installed
On a separate HDD (Drive D:\)
And you threw it in there right?
I installed the folder "tf2classic" into my D:\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\tf2classic directory with the latest update.
Did the steps to download the "Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer [upcoming]" with opting into the "upcoming" option in the Beta tab for the SDK.
I then restarted Steam and no game showing. Hope this helps :)

so your gameinfo.txt is located at D:\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\tf2classic\gameinfo.txt?

Stand by, I think I see where I may have dun goof'd.
Edit: For some reason I was under the impression that after installing the Client, I would have to apply the "Latest Patch" overtop that. I think that was my problem as this time I just installed the Client and it appeared and I booted up and was about to join my server :) Thanks for all the help guys!
Anyone else noticing someone whining about nobody playing in the group comments?
Fine. I thought this was aiming at a TF2 more faithful to the rest of the series, but whatever...
Faithful to the series =/= good
Honestly, Team Fortress Classic was a flawed game in several ways. Grenades, while not that bad of an idea, were implemented terribly. Class roles were not defined very well as well, most medics were medics in name only and most of the time they'd just be beefier Scouts with better weapons.
Pyro was also rather useless as a class because, to put it simply, his entire loadout suffers from a reliance on afterburn, which doesn't sound that bad on the paper. Until you realize that afterburn only does a mere total of 8 damage in that game. Players also have armor in that game, so that makes it even more useless. Hell, even the crowbar does more damage than the afterburn. Even if you are a competent Pyro player, why would you play the class in that game when he's not worth dick compared to other classes?
I could go on for hours but I think you get the idea. In a nutshell TFC is not that great as some nostalgia goggle-wearing people might make it sound like.
Can we get a built-in voting system?* (Maybe with better SourceMod support aka the possibility to add custom votes to the voting list)
*Similar to the current system in the present version of TF2.
Edit
Is the Trello project page down?

Have you read to first post in the forum? If you have, and are still confused, go to the Steam group.
so is this still up or has 404 ruined this?
Small little thing, TF2C now has a Tumblr account for WIPs (from devs, and community contributors) and for sending in questions to the devs.
Questions can be sent in on the Ask page, whereas content submissions can be sent in from the Submit page.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
