The scams are pretty clever at the moment and I can see how some people might fall for them. The trend is normally sometihng like: Someone messages you/writes on your wall linking a phishing link (it could be a mispelled steamcommunity.com or other sites that include characters like é, wihch are near impossible to distinguish in steam. Sometimes they're fake gambling sites and the message you're sent gives you a fake code for $5 or something. You sign into the phishing site and get redirected somewhere and are probably not aware it was a fake site. Depending on their method some at this point will message all of your steam friends list the phishing link. Depending on its method the scammer will now either login to your OPSkins/other 3rd party market places and programatically drain everything. OR will lay and wait for you to have a trade offer that has been accepted (but not confirmed) at which point it'll decline it then craft an identical one and accept it, so on your mobile you'll confirm the scamming one. Will be interesting to see how the trade hold pans out seeing as I assume people can send items to OPSkins, sell and cash out and thhe call scam and get the trade reversed. Obviously the trade hold is a stupid idea and would be nice to see if they're actually responsive to the feedback.
Mobile authentication is already as safe as it gets, it would be difficult to make it more secure than it already is. Only morons that are blindly addicted to gambling (or kids whose parents don't give a shit) fall for these blatantly obvious fake gambling sites. The only way this change prevents is scamming is that nobody wants to trade anymore.
But if you click a link that isn't to a valve website you get a warning before you have to click again to continue, so surely you would realise that is a red flag when the link looks like steamcommunity.com
and screamer links are not being blocked because...? They should make it just block everything and say that you're leaving the official steam website, so many other sites do that but steam has to cherry pick for some reason and still fuck that up. Oh and for quite some time links like stearncommunity.com weren't being blocked so there's that. Either block everything or nothing.
My bad I thought just about everything was blocked by default, I mostly have this issue with steam when people send me links to images etc so I assumed it just did that with everything.
A lot of the scam sites are fake steamanalyst/opskins links which require you to login. Sophisticated scamming has become a serious issue in the last few months. I get there's always been scammers but recently they've gone fully automatic in approach and aggresivly advertise the scams via bots posting messages. People have even speculated that they go to places like trading subreddits to farm lists of users to target. Its hard to deal with because the scammers will always try to adapt given the amount they'll be making. Originally I layed a lot of the blame at OPSkins feet as they would take thhe approach of saying, the users account is only their responsibility and we wont do anything to help. This was during a first phishing wave when bots would use the credentials to sign into opskins through steam, then programtically drain their inventory (buy cheap skins for a lot and sell expensives skins in private listings for a little). The thing is they could have done a lot more to stop that but probably didn't care as they made a lot through the sales comission. Recently I think the scammers have shifted towards replacing the trade offers with matching fake ones, but only steam can help this and if its solely a CS:GO issue they're unlikely to make big changes to steam.
https://www.theticketfairy.com/event/faceit-major-london-2018/ Major tickets are live, pretty good pricing. Bought my 4 day regular seats.
Man I really enjoy playing CSGO with friends, but the moment I play with pubs the experience is just utter trash.
Yeah, I haven't been able to play with my friends as much and I've noticed I just get headaches from trying to deal with everything in pubs...
I'm still blaming the trust factor system they put into the game a while back. Bad players get reported for being shit and good players get reported for cheating, basically pushing each others trust factor down.
Playing with randoms on MM has always been a terrible experience
Even at global they're 90% of the time complete brainlets.

Anyone got a drawing of a dumb wojak in swat gear?
So I am a fucking idiot that cant read. I bought all faceit major tickets for 4 days individually. So now I have 4x Single Day tickets. Any tips how to dump them and get 1x 4 Day ticket instead? If somebody here needs a single day ticket - let me know, I am selling them at 20% reduced price. Thurs/Fri ticket: £16.25 Sat/Sun ticket: £22.25 As far as I know - Theticketfairy allows ticket transfer. I can accept paypal/transfer/skins.
Is there a reason why you want 1 ticket instead of 4 individual tickets?
Yeah. 1) Seems easier, I assume I will have to get 4 different RFID's, 1 for each day which just sounds complicated. 2) Even if I sell my tickets at 20% reduced price individually - and buy one 4 Day ticket - I get some of my lost money back (I lost around £30) Lesson learned: Never talk on phone while buying something.
Weird coming back to the game after 6 months of not playing and still being able to control spray and everything like I never stopped playing. It's something that just sticks isn't it.
Managed to refund my fucked up order with tickets on condition that I buy another ticket first.
Fair warning, I am going to be closing this thread when I wake up tomorrow. Feel free to create threads on the topics you're discussing in here. We're trying to encourage people to spread out more, be liberal with the thread creation button. Don't group everything into one thread!
Do we start creating new threads now, or once you lock this one?
Feel free to create threads now
So can I create a chat thread? That's all we use this thread for. Look through the last few pages of this thread, there's nothing deserving of its own thread.
No chat threads. That defeats the purpose of creating separate threads.
I personally think that is the correct way to go when you consider the amount of active posters we have in this thread. Us being moved back to GGD means we get to keep being a megathread, right? Cause if not it's a catch 22 where nobody is going to be posting about CS anymore.
It was nice knowing you all
but i just got here
i love this game. i keep losing and losing, but i can't stop playing
What's the difference between Prime and Trust factor? I'm getting cheaters either choice I make.
Prime is an on/off bar where people need to have a unique mobile attached to their steam account and is enforced strictly, i.e. everyone in your game will have prime if you queue for it. Trust factors is a more complicated system which takes into account details of your steam account etc, matchmaking uses the lowest trust factor in your party and tries to match you with similar people, however it's more loosely enforced, i.e. you can have great trust factor and be matched with shit trust factor if there's no similar one around your rank. Either way if you're having massive problems with cheaters you're probably just seeing legit people who are just playing well/getting a bit lucky.
