Disabling HRTF and rebooting the game solved it for me.
Jeez, so many sounds sound so low-quality, even some menu sounds; this hurts D:
I came across a video about easter eggs on CS:GO and one of the "easter egg" was this
CS with speakers
are you even human
I'm too poor to afford headphones :(
At least im not going at it with no sound at all

I wish sending packages to different countries was a bit cheaper, could send my spare siberia v2's with a broken mic to you.
Playing CS with speakers is a tormenting experience.
Playing cs with speakers is fine as long as its nothing serious. I didn't even start using headphones until 2012 and before that I've been playing css and talking over teamspeak so yeah
Buy headphones
[editline]8th December 2016[/editline]
And dont cheap out,
Plantronics gamecom for decent not breaking-the-budget entry level cans. They're not amazing but they do the job.
Hell, even 10€ logitech crapsets will be better than most speakers unless you shell out.
If you want quality and built-to-last: buy headphones and mics separately. Gaming headsets are notorious for breaking within a year or two.
Omg that new nearby Lobby Feature!!
Russians: never again
Always fun when you agree to cast a match, sit there for an hour waiting for the society to set up the server because they thought it was a different time, then wait in the server only for not a single member of either team to show.

It's not that bad :v: I mean I can't hear footsteps unless they're really close to me and even then they're quiet, so it's basically 50 percent guess work and crosshair placement, and 50 percent hoping my team tells me where they last saw whoever dinked them.

Update, we then started our 9pm match at quarter two after a pilava with the server, again, and then get rekt because while the other team were warming up I was waiting for 10 idiots who can't read a facebook post.
The directional sound option sounds so fucking bad to me my ears actually felt like they hurt
Directional sounds is important but I'd rather have bad directional sounds then fucking nails-on-chalkboard level ear-grade
I do not exaggerate this. I don't know about everyone else but for me it's unbearable.
You didn't play with the old gun sounds did you.
You'll get used to it.
Stop messing with the sound settings and set them back to default + snd_rebuildaudiocache
It sounds perfectly fine to me, just some more "air" on some of the guns.

So if you don't like it then just...disable it? There's a reason they allow you to enable and disable HRTF.
Guy wants me to 1v1 after finishing mm. Sets up game, sets it to no kevlar. Sprays me down every round while crying about me using SG in mm.

lol, no kevlar is just who cant hit the other guy first so he can't even try.
Its bad now but then again HRTF has only been released for about 48 hours by now. HRTF will get improvements and become amazing.
Reminds me of that one mod for Fallout 4 that added HRTF via some plugin files.
Sure you got directional audio more properly, but it dropped the sound quality so much if they weren't a noise made in first-person and thus exempt from directional that it just wasn't really worth it. I don't know what the hell the setup must be doing to drop quality so drastically.
Some quick update :
[Audio/HRTF]
– Fix to directionality issues when using headphones with HRTF. Sounds now spatialize correctly when looking up or down.
– Fix to sound distortion on some weapons.
[Misc]
– Improved rendering performance on Intel GPU systems.
– Improved performance for some OSX users.
Chubbs and I checked this already, it's not.
If a sound plays and you turn very quickly (e.g. scope sound) then that stays in the same place as well, so if it starts in your right ear cup and you turn to look at the person scoping, the sound will stay in the right ear cup.
We also observed a short period of delay between a weapon hitting the ground and the sound being played, the weapon actually bounces before the sound plays, I couldn't reproduce it with grenades though so it may be placebo.
It does fix the audio becoming mono when looking down and the issue where nades weren't making sound if the area portal that it belonged to wasn't rendered.
Sound is still BUSTED
What is it with teammates where the moment they die they immediately go "THAT GUY IS SO BULLSHIT"
idk, stop looking at the ground

s1mple looks at the ground and he's the best fragger in the world
bad crosshair placement is only an issue if you aren't really nutty
clearly your teammates are all nutty af so they dont need crosshair placement to frag out

And he didn't enable cheats on his server? Last time I did an 1v1 that kid just enabled wireframe mode, and once I started using god mode he just called me a pussy and removed me
Real mature

Some guy wanted to 1v1 me when I had like 100 hours on the game and 90% of them were spent developing or shooting at bots, so I played against him and won and then he claimed that I just "beat a 2 hour player" but he had 600 hours logged in-game on his profile...which was public...I know that Steam logs all of the hours a user has the game open as "played" but come on, 600 hours!
Is the steam group totally dead? Seems like with the new group finder it should be more relevant than ever.

We can do another fp community night, it's alot easier to coordinate with the new system. Last time we had 3 lobbies of fp'ers, but that was over a year ago.
