Only bad knights go for unreliable bash crits
but you were the one complaining that the charge was nerfed though
but you were the one complaining that the charge was nerfed though
No, real demoknights use the charge to run away from their enemies, because proper timing and actual competence is for bad knights. :downs:
Okay, here are some spots I've been messing with, I'll repost them in a few places:
A few (probably most) of these require Wrangler usage. One of them is just a sneaky teleporter spot. #1 is probably my favorite since it's easy to set up very early in the round, and helps keep a huge pressure on mid without being too risky a spot to place buildings. #7 is great because edging it will get you caught past those boxes, and I think most would die. Note that I haven't tried most of these, I'm just sort of being analytical about where people would be able to edge a sentry. #7 is probably my favorite since the only entrances to that area are the place you can't edge to, spawn (which will be protected in general), and the stairway to the left. Theoretically the sentry should be able to protect that stairway, but I fear it may be easy to edge with rockets or stickies.
Criticism?
I like starting with my tele in #1, but the dispenser and sentry doesnt help many people there, sometimes a fallback position. I like placing my tele and then going down and placing sentry on our side behind the metal wall closest to cp, then dispenser. I use 6 and 10 a lot. 5 seems very vulnerable to long range rockets. In #12 I like the sentry where the teleporter and dispenser is, sometimes tele next to near cp healthpack and dispenser near lower entrance to their side. Then when I see a good moment, I move the dispenser and sentry up to the upper room.
Yesterday 5 seconds after a spy cloaked, I chased the thin air and backstabbed him.
Saw this in general chat, I love this scenario;

Just encountered a hacking Heavy in an MvM game considering how fast he destroyed Giants and Sentry Busters while sniping from long range without any kind of crits/minicirts.
Also, he didn't even seem to try as he had +attack in console (because when he ran out of ammo due to Engineer aka me removed the Dispenser from him, he ended up punching the air in one place while still aiming at robots precisely)
Then the VAC ban kicked in. To be honest, I've never seen that happen ingame until now :v:

The sword crits at the end of the charge, there is a bug that allows it to crit when you bash someone but its unreliable, thats why you use up the entire charge for a more reliable crit swing.
Have any of you played demoknight.

It's hilariously easy to get and extremely reliable. Have you ever played demoknight?

You have anything to back that up? They weren't always there it was a bug added when the splendid screen was put in the game.
They might be somewhat reliable on the screen which was designed for the concept and really the only way you can get kills with that straight line charge but with other shields theyre not reliable at all. Maybe youre just playing maps like 2fort and dustbowl where there is no strafing room therefore they are easier to land or perhaps your playing against inexperienced players who don't try to dodge. In most servers I play on they can be considered fairly unreliable. I might make a video showing this but I feel like it would be wasted effort.
Instead ill offer a brief explanation, bashcrits require a pointblank shield hit combined with the melee swing right when it hits, thats how bash crits work, the crits swing is supposed to take place at the end of the charge and since the bash stopped your charge thats how the game reads it, now if you use the charge it gives you a bigger time window to use the crits and you have the entire length of youre extended melee swing to land the hit rather than having to charge hit at point blank.
In the end its not worth arguing about, I have well over 4000 hours in this game and I find timing sword crits much more difficult than shooting feet as soldier and more rewarding than clicking bodies as scout. I still play all 9 classes but demoknight is my personal favorite, charge drain being regulated to a reasonable amount is one of the main things that made me stick with tf2 after a long hiatus of only playing dirty bomb and old gamecube emulators. I dont want to get into a long argument, but the tide turner is my favorite item in tf2 and the fact that using it no longer grants me constant frustration is something I love about tf2, I figured thats what this thread was for.
I feel bad for you, that your entire prospect of the game resides in a single very item. jigglypuff
though it might help if you stopped believing that everybody sucks and there's no possible way for anything to be acknowledged unless it's top tier comp level.
but w/e floats the boat

that's your general idea, yes. this is not specifically related to your last post.
that's just you.

You have nothing better to do with your time than flame me for posting something I love about tf2 in a thread about doing exactly that?
Easy there, you know better than anyone that the Turner has been a trigger to you around here, and how you really go all the way to defend it.
Wich in all honestly, its more or less a running joke at this point. I suggest you above anything else to not take it as something personal
well you kind of just insult anyone who doesn't play like you do
then you pull the "everyone is terrible" card
then you wonder why you get comments
this is why they ban you in SPUF all the time

Like what you did to me on the last page?...
This just in, pufftarts likes pressing m2 to run fast and get free crits whilst having resistances, in other news water is still wet and sky is blue, film at 11.
OT: Holy jeez Heavy is much more effective at destroying sentries and I'm loving it.
Unfortunately, it means that a level 3 can't kill a heavy with a pocket medic before the sentry is destroyed if your team isn't helping you

Good, now an engineer has to rely on teamwork to kill enemies instead of his "do it for me" gun all the damn time.

The Sentry was already incredibly weak versus any skilled player. There are so many ways to destroy a sentry and so few ways to defend them.

This is why I like the Rescue Ranger a lot, it allows the Engie to make sure his hard work doesn't go to waste if he's quick enough.

Even with the RR it's difficult to react in time to defend against, say, a Direct Hit soldier or a Loch n Load demoman. There are so many ways to annihilate a sentry gun before the engineer can even react it's a wonder anybody could possibly think a sentry gun is too strong.

Singular sentries have never been a huge road block, but several in one area is rather annoying. It's not that they're too strong, but I always feel that if I die to a sentry, it wasn't because someone out played me, but because someone essentially constructed an aimbot to kill for them. it's the opposite problem with sniper, with sniper I feel I had no part in the combat, I just got headshot from a range I can't retaliate to. With engy, I feel the engineer is not taking an active part in the combat, making getting killed by one or more sentries feel unfun because he had minimal involvement in my death apart from building a perfectly accurate death machine, the problem is worsened by multiple engineers.
That's not to say playing engy isn't frustrating or fun to play as, it's often very rewarding acting as area denial, health/mobility support, or as a pushing force on offense, but often I'm left wondering where the hell my teammates are when my stuff goes down and I'm dead/elsewhere. That's where the teamwork aspect comes in, a singular sentry can do well with support, just like any one player can do well with support from his team. With the latest gameplay changes, engy is even less of a stand alone defensive class and requires more team input. Good. Anything that encourages players to look after sentries that benefit them is good.
Honestly the fun in engie for me has always been simply constructing a well-placed dispenser or teleporter when my team needs it. Sentries are great don't get me wrong, but it's the little things that I get the most enjoyment out of. Watching a flaming teammate make it to my dispenser just in time, or allowing my team to keep pressure on an offensive push thanks to my teleporter...etc. The engineer has the most potential of any class to be a team-player in my opinion.
I loving selling weapon cases because it's a good investment and quite fun, and maybe, just maybe I could afford some decent clothes, a meal and the raffle I wanted to do.
Any time I get surly enough to set any unruly player into their place. All I need to do is point out their petty behavior and they either shut up completely or just divulge into meaningless insults that eventually get them kicked.
Granted I could mute them, but I'm doing a favor to those who don't know how to mute players.
Initiating a vote kick after someone says "this team sucks" is always quiet fun.
Especially when the penny drops and they start begging.
I like playing pyro every now and then, especially when I get to do captures like this:
