The comments that amuse me are the "this is nice, but it will never get in game" ones. Well, duh, most stuff won't get in game, regardless of quality, so that's just a safe way for a commenter to feel smug about themselves.

Comments can be fun. I think they reveal more about the commenter than the workshop item.
Sometimes "Looks like X" actually means: "I've seen other people say this, and it usually gets the contributor's attention, so I'll say it here and then I'll be special and people will notice me."
And sometimes it means: "I'm reminded of something else, so I'll just make an honest mistake and say it looks the same."
But most of the time it probably means: "I'll just make a quick comment without really thinking about it."
Though honestly I tend to ignore all comments completely regardless of how nice or nasty unless someone mentions a problem that needs to be fixed.

I discovered recently that two chucklefucks were arguing about stats in the comment section for The Councilman for days on end.
Deleting the entire debacle reduced the total count from 105 comments to 55.

the worst thing is, people on many forums, like both on the workshop and reddit, can be frustratingly dumb. you can ignore most comments but if certain stupid shit doesn't get dispelled quickly, the rest of them will believe it, because nobody looks up anything for themselves.
even then they might still try to argue with you, and clueless people might just side with whoever sounds more convincing because they don't know any better. it's a drawback for not being able to see which poster is a literal dumbass 12 year old, people get tired of verifying everything so they just don't do it.
that guy was polite enough to point it out politely unlike some other guys i have seen on another item, so i typed back politely to point out mine was uploaded a full year before that thing i supposedly copied. if i didn't say anything some of the dumber users might have simply believed it.

I ran into a couple cases a while back where people were somehow oblivious of the rate up/down buttons. They thought the copy pasta thumbs up was how you voted on something you liked. It makes me wonder how many people were rating without actually rating.
