But the cats are like the best item in the game...
AD/HD go to your room and think about what you've said
I actually like the Medic's toolset item. The others are garbage tho.
"I know I'm gonna need these tools on the field. I want them somewhere out of the way, but still accessible." [t]https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/1/16/Surgeon%27s_Sidearms.png[/t] I mean look at that picture. If he bends his wrist up he's gonna get a load of whatever the hell is inside that syringe. This makes no sense.
AD/HD go to your room and think about what you've said
I'm currently in my room, and have had no opinion change exept that the tyrants helm and Viking braider may be above it, with the pocket purrer close be hens the companions
the catastrophic companions are the TF2 equivalent of 2009-era "i can haz cheesburger?" lolcats and you should be ashamed
I mean I'm one for thinking anyone can have their opinions on what they like and what they don't like, but the Catastrophic Companions just aren't all that impressive, especially given they're the second highest-selling Elite cosmetic next to the Corona Australis & Potassium Bonet; two items that, despite one being very meme-y than the other, do at least look a lot more impressive. This may also have to do with the polygon limitations, but the cats just don't look all that impressive. The other cat model you mentioned is a far better-looking and modelled item, to be honest. Maybe not top 10 worthy, because that's really a matter of opinion, but still. Saying that an item is 'the best in the game' is a very black & white statement to make, especially when it's an item that has very mixed reviews about its presence in the game.

And it's unironically one of my all-time favorite Soldier cosmetics
I mean I'm one for thinking anyone can have their opinions on what they like and what they don't like, but the Catastrophic Companions just aren't all that impressive, especially given they're the second highest-selling Elite cosmetic next to the Corona Australis & Potassium Bonet; two items that, despite one being very meme-y than the other, do at least look a lot more impressive. I don't like the cats either, but people tell me the Bot Dogger is a cancer hat and I STILL like it. Everyone can have an opinion, ya know?
Yeh, I didn't intend to sound like a dick earlier, as I totally understand it's his own opinion to like something. But Iunno, stating something as "the best thing in the game" is a bit hard to call out now, when there's so much stuff in the game that people like or dislike.
I've always found it really strange how blinded by 'cuteness' people are when it comes to the Catastrophic Companions... If you actually take a look at the textures and the model, its quite easily one of the most poorly made items within TF2. [T]https://puu.sh/vjNQf/65b3fe37a3.jpg[/T] The huge flat eyes, the bright pink ears and nose, the soulless/characterless faces. Nothing about them even looks remotely Tf2-ish, they look as though they have jumped out of an 8 year old girl's drawing and onto the classes shoulders. Honestly their quality is pretty inexcusable. Sorry, probably beating a dead horse at this stage, but I needed to vent.
I guess i'll play devil's advocate, If valve adds theses items then clearly they must match the games style and as such are setting a precedent for the community to follow in the future!
Seeing the way that Valve handled the item picking for the Love and War update (organised, choosing nice and good quality item sets), compared to how they handled the more recent items (picking items at random, sometimes low breaking up sets) just makes me sad. Not to mention the tiered case system and the fact that they haven't told us why they're doing it this way
[t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/298470828519981056/302280248295292928/meme.png[/t]
I have three of those and I don't know if I should feel bad.
I have three of those and I don't know if I should feel bad.
If you like the cosmetic, then who cares?
It's really no secret at this point that Valve's system for picking cosmetics is extremely bias towards their personal opinions of what will sell the most or what they want the most. Which to some extent is fine, it's their game. But there is otherwise no readable sense of quality control. And don't even get me fucking started again on how they distribute quantity of cosmetics between each class. I'm all for variety in contributors chosen for item releases, but there are plenty of quality items made by lesser known members which go ignored as opposed to them digging up 5 year old items that have no place in the games artstyle for the sake of variety. It's almost like they adopted steams greenlight policy where they accept nearly everything because "somebody out there will like it".
I guess i'll play devil's advocate, If valve adds theses items then clearly they must match the games style and as such are setting a precedent for the community to follow in the future!
No I think its more just questionable choices and poor decisions.
these overalls are still lookin for a nice home [sp]hate to be picky but i prefer to partner with more experienced workshop bois[/sp] [T]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/298470916420272128/302526003060932608/engy_overalls-touchup.png[/T]

There's nothing wrong with it but when you're a concept artist without connections you aren't really in a position to be picky about your collaborations (Obviously you can decline people you aren't comfortable working with but if you only listen to people with accepted items you'll find yourself getting picked up less often, resulting in slower reputation/experience)

I'm not saying Valve can't choose good items, but a few they chose for the Winter 2016 update barely had any votes, comments, discussions, etc.
The fact they stopped bothering with descriptions all together while also ignoring the previous description contests which both created a fun community event and filled out part of what gives the game its charm is just sad. They've continuously shafted the content creation side of the game for the past several years and the fact they haven't even so much as acknowledged it with a blanket politician statement shows they really don't seem to care.
There's nothing wrong with it but when you're a concept artist without connections you aren't really in a position to be picky about your collaborations
I totally understand, I think that myself. Main reason I said was cause I'm buds with some approachable workshop friends, but they're more often than not busy with other things. I do try to pitch my stuff to them but they're either not interested or too busy with work. I plan on improving my concepts with practice so that my situation will hopefully do a 180, and modeler friends will likely approach me first. Speaking of, here's an updated, and hopefully nicer, version of my nightmare vision specs. (Engie only for now) [T]http://i.imgur.com/bQRjrEm.png[/T]
Has anyone claimed this? It looks really funny, I like the design a lot
No claimants yet. A workshop bud suggested that I make the eye lenses move with facial flexes, rather than styles.

Speaking of shilling my set with which I'm not 100% happy with, but fuck it I like it enough and don't want to spend 2 years working on it. I really like the hair the most.
